Yes, the fact that the light was burned out is probably not the hosts fault unless they pencil whipped the inspection without checking. The handling of it was atrocious.
@@binkyfaith Would if i needed that. He's delivering to a paint shop where I will be having body work done on my car. Update: 6/10/2022, I needed to extend the rental another week. There was no problem whatsoever with the host. he is extremely patient and accommodating. When everything was said and done, the close out process was exceptionally smooth. Honestly, I will never rent a car through any other source than Turo...half the price ($43.00 a day for a 2019 Honda Accord) of any mainstream rental company. Car was clean and no issues at all...very satisfied.
The review was excellent and hope y'all have a hassle free experience next time. I just wish if TURO would give you the choice of paying for the tolls as a one fee, sometimes they call it AIT All Inclusive Tolls, this would make you have no surprises after your trip is done! I hope TURO are seeing this comment 😂. And will try to rent with them after seeing your detailed video, thanks a lot!
@@elitorres-realtor That would be great for hosts. Unfortunately it wouldn't benefit Turo and they are not likely to spend money on an upgrade that doesn't benefit them. Turo hosts would also benefit from a calendar that shows all of their cars at once. It wouldn't benefit Turo so it's not likely to happen.
I live in DFW. Toll roads are optional, and there are plenty of streets that run parallel to the tolled roads, which are more or less expressways. That’s not the case for the rest of the country, I’ve just never seen a toll road where there wasn’t a free alternative.
Turo's customer service left me stranded five hundred miles from my house. I called them to get a jumpstart that never showed up. They kept losing my request in their computer. Anyway, after four hours, I called an Uber and went to the AutoZone and bought a battery to install in the truck so I could finish my business trip. Horrible service, they've given me five "how did we do" surveys, and they haven't even acknowledged it. Pathetic. It was the worst rental experience of my life!
@Hate Committee They have an 800 number you can supposedly call. I did. Twelve times. Finally got an Uber and got me a battery and finished my vacation. Don't count on it and buy AAA as well
Crazy because I’m a car guy and would’ve fixed that in 20minutes and charged the host lol. He should’ve had y’all go and get the bulb replaced regardless though if it made you feel uncomfortable. I’m wreckless and would’ve drove regardless 😅
Thank you for the references on this video first I was afraid of renting from here and then it was a scam or something si ce this will be my first time but now since I saw your video I feel more comfortable renting it !!
Definitely not a scam. I travel to California a lot and always use Turo. I actually just became a host myself and started renting out my honda civic. 2 renters so far and another renter booked for tomorrow. Pretty cool app both for renters and hosts. Turo I heard is about to go public so it will definitely become more popular when that happens.
The one thing no one talks about is the trip fee. I tried to rent a car and they were asking for $140 for the trip fee plus the rental. So what was supposed to be a $150 rental turned out to be a $280 rental. So i cancelled and ended up getting a car from a budget rental place. I ended up paying the $150 i was quoted with no extra bogus charges.
Great review on something I haven’t heard about before…… car rentals the traditional way have certainly increased in price……. In my opinion I wouldn’t have worried about the one headlight that was burnt out, there’s a reason why they have two of them….😉 nonetheless you would have been ok to cruise around during the day storms or sun…… glad to hear you’re experience was mostly favourable!!
Thank you so much I was looking into renting from Turo for the first time I'm still debating! Lol but now thank you for that video because so many photos you have to take??? my goodness and your personal photos so many times!?? Wow That's a lot of photos in that app!! I don't know....
Good review. I guess bad things or car unexpected issues happen, and it is up to the host to fix or not fix. To hosts, how do you handle unexpected issues with renters?
We noticed the price of certain TURO cars will 'increase' if you dont book it, then come back later to book...!!! This has happened several times with different cars. One day the price is $125 per day, then the next day the price is $131 per day for the exact same car and rental period...!!!
Great review! I've used Turo a couple times this year. Great experience so far. So many different cars to choose from in my area. However, when I rent the trip fee is the Same amount as the amount being rented per day. Not sure if it's based on the area I live in or not.
Even if it's the same price as Hertz atleast you get to pick your car and when you show up they don't try and change it up on you at the last minute lol
You’d be totally fine with a single headlight in rain or honestly even at night in the city. That’s probably why the host didn’t do anything when you reported it. Honestly that wouldn’t even affect my review of the host.
Juliana, as a US citizen, didn't need to do anything special upon arrival! No form to fill out at all! I believe they just input your info into their computer and track things that way now. At least that was our experience via Cancun...
Per the Turo Terms of Service (TOS), Host MAY NOT be in the car with the Guest and drive anywhere. So arrange for pick up and drop situations. Talk directly to Host.
Thank you for this. I’ll be sure to reference this comment the next time my wife is busting my balls for actually reading the Terms and Conditions before blindly agreeing to legally binding contracts.
I think AutoZone or even a Walmart Auto would change headlight for you when you buy a bulb. Not sure of prices but i think when changing 1 bulb. You want to change both at the same time. If the left goes out... Not too long until the right goes out. If the same length of use
When that happens in the future. Just smack the headlight. That’s a very common issue on a lot of cars. Usually a smack of the headlight will turn it back on.
I’m writing this before watching the full video so bear with me, when it’s says a limit of 400 miles is that per day ? Or 400 miles for the whole trip ?
I can assure you rental car companies aren’t much better than Turo. Enterprise doesn’t even put gas in their cars regularly. When you have issues you have to wait hours for a tow truck then Uber to another rental location to get another car
Recently I had a flat while renting a car from Enterprise. I called customer service and was told about the $50 charge for roadside service. My hubby changed the tire in his dress up clothes. We were on the hwy and where told we had "at the least" a 2 hour wait. I'll try Truo.
I wanted to say, that I have rented cars and on both occasions they did not do there do diligence. One rental gave me a car not inspected.... Imagine that, another rental company also rented me a car, and the bumper was very loose and I called them and guess what, they did nothing.... Supposedly they should have sent me another car to replace it, because front bumper was loose.... I gave them the address where I was at...Guess what??? They never called me back, they never showed up. I had to drive the car in that condition for 2 weeks!!!!!!
From a host’s perspective, cars are cars. They are mechanical and therefore they will need repair. I had an experience where my car was checked before this one guy’s ‘unlimited miles’ trip. Little did I know he would drive my freakin’ car 5 states away! Duuuhhhh, yeah, the ‘service engine soon’ light came on in the dashboard and he freaked out. I did everything I could do to try to please him. He just took it to the next level. I offered TO PAY for a replacement car… he complained about that. And so on…. I think renters need to get out of the clouds and not expect for a mechanical vehicle to NEVER have issues, especially if you, the renter, have driven the car to death (FL to MI). I will NEVER EVER put my car on unlimited miles in Turo again. I know I was diligent in checking the engine fluids and tires before this customer’s trip however, it was unfair for him to rent my car for such a low cost and then put over 1,000 miles on it and NOT expect the car to indicate maintenance needs. Doesn’t make sense. Hosts AND renters have a responsibility. Note: if he has damaged my engine due to ignoring the service indicator, he, the renter, will have to pay for it. I tried to ask him to take it to a Turo approved car shop and he exploded about the inconvenience of doing that. 🙄 Some customers you just can’t please. What I also love about Turo is that hosts can rate customers too. One can’t see the others rating until they are both completed. Other hosts need to beware of people who try to take advantage. I have since limited the car miles and ‘snoozed’ my car to get it checked / repaired at the car shop. This negative customer has not deterred me from hosting on the platform. I had 4 awesome guests before him that gave me 5 Stars for everything. Don’t allow one bad experience to make you quit. #StillIRise
First, thank you for posting this review... Very helpful and informative... Gotta ask: Why was the headlight such a big deal ??? ...I mean, you made it seem like the car was inoperable because of one burned out light... Like if the rain had not stopped, there was NO possible way you could continue using the car !!! ...Lol
good experience until they are dealing with a Windshield small chip claim; i repaired the small chip by Safelite and they did not recommend replacing the screen. Then owner decided they would love to have a new windshield! and replaced it and sent me $700 invoice for their choice of windshield; TURO sent me invoice and I disputed, however, they tried to charge my credit card without my permission !!! which is totally illegal. All along the way the reassured me that they will not charge me without permission, but they lied. lucky my card had expired. BEWARE !!!! TURO claim does not care about your case, they just want your money.
When you were trying to explain to us about the insurance you were toggling between standard and minimum and highlighting both at the same time , One was a 153 , 1 was 71 Which of the 2 did you end up going with ?
Turo is alot better then the major car rental agencies. There not only cheaper. The hidden costs they charge people is so rediculous. Since covid 19 pandemic rental car places like Enterprise, Hertz, Budget, Alamo, Avis, Thrifty and other 3 have ripped the public off completely. They always almost always say oh 20.00 dollars a day and by the time all the taxes are added on it is up being 40.00 to 50.00 a day. People stop renting from the airport for cars. The publicly traded car rental agencies are not worth it. Rent from turo or the air bnb places better deals and better customer service too.
I just booked from Turo Tesla for a week in November and it's September now. What questions do you recommend me asking the Host for renting their Tesla for the first time. This is my first time renting from Turo by the way. Thank you.
I think you should've been offered a partial refund for the broken headlight and this is my main concern with renting from Turo. With a traditional rental company, you're pretty much guaranteed a car in perfect working order and i'd be afraid of renting a lemon from Turo and getting stuck somewhere with it. When you said it's "hit or miss" with the car you get, that raised concerns with me. I still may try it next week though since traditional car rental companies have raised rates and hold deposits a lot since the pandemic has waned and people are getting out more again. I guess they have to recoup their losses from 2020 some way. I just pray if I rent from Turo I don't have a breakdown on the 2 hour ride I need to make. Your video is really helpful though. Thanks for making it!
Hola.
Saludos.

Turo requires that the cars are thoroughly checked out between rentals. Car light bulbs can go out at any time, on any car.
Yes, the fact that the light was burned out is probably not the hosts fault unless they pencil whipped the inspection without checking. The handling of it was atrocious.
Thank you young lady! Will be renting a car on TURO middle of May 2022 from a premier host who will deliver his car to me...hope all goes well.
Best of luck!
Is he delivering to your address
@@binkyfaith Would if i needed that. He's delivering to a paint shop where I will be having body work done on my car. Update: 6/10/2022, I needed to extend the rental another week. There was no problem whatsoever with the host. he is extremely patient and accommodating. When everything was said and done, the close out process was exceptionally smooth. Honestly, I will never rent a car through any other source than Turo...half the price ($43.00 a day for a 2019 Honda Accord) of any mainstream rental company. Car was clean and no issues at all...very satisfied.
@@johnhammond3556 thx for the input, sounds like you had a great experience
The review was excellent and hope y'all have a hassle free experience next time. I just wish if TURO would give you the choice of paying for the tolls as a one fee, sometimes they call it AIT All Inclusive Tolls, this would make you have no surprises after your trip is done! I hope TURO are seeing this comment 😂. And will try to rent with them after seeing your detailed video, thanks a lot!
Happy you found this helpful. I totally agree! If they had the option to prepay for a toll pass, I would totally do it.
The tolls are billed to the car owners. Turo can't manage every toll for every car. I'm a Turo host and the tolls are a pain to keep up with.
Great review because I was just thinking about using TURO! Thanks 😊
Happy to help!
Don't count on it and buy AAA as well
@Hate Committee that's the issue. They don't claim to be. Won't even acknowledge it happened

Very helpful video. My car is in the shop so I was told to try Turo. This will be my first time! Thanks for the info!

How did it go?
A Prius is notorious for blowing headlights,. I have one and have replaced them numerous times. Thank you for the post.
Glad to help!
Crazy because I’m a car guy and would’ve fixed that in 20minutes and charged the host lol. He should’ve had y’all go and get the bulb replaced regardless though if it made you feel uncomfortable. I’m wreckless and would’ve drove regardless 😅
A headlight bulb should be an easy fix. I suspect that most auto parts stores would even change it for you.
Turo is Great. I rented a Porsche. Great experience.
I would not pay extra for the turo insurance unless you have no insurance. I have State Farm and they will cover any claims.
Good to know!! Cheers!
Gotta love honest reviews
Thank you for the references on this video first I was afraid of renting from here and then it was a scam or something si ce this will be my first time but now since I saw your video I feel more comfortable renting it !!
Glad it was helpful! I've used it about 4 times since and have been loving it!
Definitely not a scam. I travel to California a lot and always use Turo. I actually just became a host myself and started renting out my honda civic. 2 renters so far and another renter booked for tomorrow. Pretty cool app both for renters and hosts. Turo I heard is about to go public so it will definitely become more popular when that happens.
thanks for sharing this experience.
Happy to help!
Appreciate this detailed review as I consider Turo vs a conventional rental car company!
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Great video your giving me confidence in Turo
Happy to help!
Thanks for the review. Possibly renting this summer. Appreciate the insight.
Glad it was helpful! Best of luck!
Avoid Turo. There are plenty of other reliable car rental companies.
Yeah it really depends on the city! Sometimes it's worth it, but other times it's not. Best to shop around!
@@TouristtoLocal is their a trip fee for Vegas?
I never knew this existed. Wow thanks
No problem!
about to use Turo for the first time next week fingers crossed it goes well.
Best of luck! I used it this week for the forth time and have been loving it lately!
Thanks for watching!
Dallas /fort worth tolls everywhere. Great video/review
The tolls there were CRAZY!
Damn you got him papeles ? You’re a real one for sure
I own a 2011 prius...been through like 3 headlight bulbs in a year...common problem...going to update them to LED
Thank you. This was very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much I was looking into renting from Turo for the first time I'm still debating! Lol but now thank you for that video because so many photos you have to take??? my goodness and your personal photos so many times!?? Wow That's a lot of photos in that app!! I don't know....
Glad it was helpful! It's definitely a lot of photos. It's good for documenting any previous damage.
Nice video, Regards from POLAND
Woah! That's awesome! Thanks for watching!
Just booked a Tesla Model 3 for my two days trip in New Jersey with Turo, let's see how it will work!
Great job ! And you have a lovely smile
Thanks so much!
Your welcome! Stay safe keep up the good work.
Awesome review...i was so confused on how it works...thanks
Thanks for watching!
Excellent review.. I'm going to give Turo a try.💢
Hope you enjoy it!
Good review. I guess bad things or car unexpected issues happen, and it is up to the host to fix or not fix. To hosts, how do you handle unexpected issues with renters?
You and your dad are awesome needed this information 👍
That was her husband or bf. LOL
We noticed the price of certain TURO cars will 'increase' if you dont book it, then come back later to book...!!! This has happened several times with different cars. One day the price is $125 per day, then the next day the price is $131 per day for the exact same car and rental period...!!!
Woah! So good to know! Thanks for the heads up!!
Same with airlines and hotel rooms.
You know as long as you had 1 light, you were still good to drive in the rain. Not totally up to pair, but you did have a light.
Great review! I've used Turo a couple times this year. Great experience so far. So many different cars to choose from in my area. However, when I rent the trip fee is the Same amount as the amount being rented per day. Not sure if it's based on the area I live in or not.
I think it really depends on the area! In some places it is way cheaper than a rental car, and in others it's about the same.
Even if it's the same price as Hertz atleast you get to pick your car and when you show up they don't try and change it up on you at the last minute lol
Thanks for the detailed review! Great info!
Happy to help!
Good review! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
You’d be totally fine with a single headlight in rain or honestly even at night in the city. That’s probably why the host didn’t do anything when you reported it. Honestly that wouldn’t even affect my review of the host.
Good to know! I get so nervous about breaking the law 😂 in the end, we didn’t let it effect our rating
Thanks for the información
If one day you came to Houston
I got a 2022 rt challenger for rent
Thanks for the video-- you guys are a cute couple.

Martin is a lucky man!
Thank you!!! im looking on turo bcuz rentals in Seattle area for my trip in May is ridiculously priced!!
The prices are crazy right now! Hope this helps!
Do they charge your card the day you book the car or the day you pick up the car?
Good info 👍I had rented a car many times and I never check any lights ..
Happy to help!
I think AutoZone or even a Walmart Auto would change headlight for you when you buy a bulb. Not sure of prices but i think when changing 1 bulb. You want to change both at the same time. If the left goes out... Not too long until the right goes out. If the same length of use
Good to know for next time! Thanks for the tip.
@@TouristtoLocal Bulbs can run 10 to 50 dollars but a quick 10 bucks so can drive at night would not be bad
Hey I'm in Dallas . Aw this was a year ago
When that happens in the future. Just smack the headlight. That’s a very common issue on a lot of cars.
Usually a smack of the headlight will turn it back on.
😂
I’m writing this before watching the full video so bear with me, when it’s says a limit of 400 miles is that per day ? Or 400 miles for the whole trip ?
But which insurance coverage did you go with?
Oh you here near me in Frisco yes the tolls are a lot out this way
I was so surprised by all the tolls! Thanks so much for watching!
Why not go drive and buy a bulb for the headlight and bill the guy?
I wanted to say, that I have rented cars and on both occasions they did not do there do diligence. One rental gave me a car not inspected.... Imagine that,
another rental company also rented me a car, and the bumper was very loose and I called them and guess what, they did nothing.... Supposedly they should have sent me another car to replace it, because front bumper was loose.... I gave them the address where I was at...Guess what??? They never called me back, they never showed up. I had to drive the car in that condition for 2 weeks!!!!!!
Woah, that's awful! Sorry to hear that.
Does anyone know if Turo puts a hold on your card like other rental companies?
In my experience they charge me immediately! If we were to cancel ahead of time, they just issue a refund.
Great video. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
When you were trying to explain to us about the insurance you were toggling between standard and minimum and highlighting both at the same time , One was a 153 , 1 was 71 Which of the 2 did you end up going with ?
Also curious about this.
Yes, and people keep talking about "premium" insurance, but I didn't see that as an option.
This is what's gonna save me from getting a cheap car
Thank u for your help
Happy to help!
I used Turo. The host canceled on me literally as I was sitting in the car waiting for the code. It took 4 hours to find another car.
That's INSANE!
Wow
Turo gonna take out hertz and enterprise the way Netflix took out blockbuster and Hollywood video and Uber taken out taxis
I don’t think so. You don’t see air bnb taking out hotels.
Happy to have helped you!
Yes, there should have been a discount for the headlight issue.
Hola.
Saludos.
The insurance kinda stinks. From what I've been reading, in the event of an accident or such your insurance will pay for everything and THEN the Turo insurance will kick in after another 900 dollar deductible. Kinda sounds like garbage to me and I have avoided using turo for that reason so far
This is good to know!
Thank you for the video. It answered Al my questions

So I didn't do TURO on this trip because Avis had a better deal. Maybe next time.
Good basic review but insurance option was basically not talked about We were watching this to get a better perspective about insurance which really was not covered
First time renter on Turo I almost got ripped off. The scammers love first time renters. Please be careful who you give money to.
They canceled our Jeep. Told my husband he was getting a refund and get a replacement jeep. No refund. Been fighting with them about it for a month and 1/2... ot using them because they lied to us...several times.
Question, who is responsible for the repair of the headlight and how to do it.
