Designed to the Nines well when we purchased our home many moons ago 🤣😂 they had real wood cabinets but they were so boring with the flat panels etc. so I painted them black yes black 🤷♀️ back when the black was popular well since then we have sanded and added trim to make them look more like shaker style but my husband stained them a really dark reddish stain which I think I can fix🤞 My real problem is with the waisted space... there are no corner cabinets they are all squared off if you know what I mean... so without replacing all the cabinets I’m not sure how to fix my problems... any suggestions? 🙏🏻😂🤣
I feel you! I’ve worked around old the kitchens in the past… it sounds like you’re handy, so maybe it’s just building in some extra shelves here and there on the wall or on the ends of cabinets. Definitely when you’re short on space you have to think outside the box.💕
@@donnadoiron8884 ugh with the squared off corner spaces. so the corners are jsut these huge empty spaces that you cant even get to. both corners, top and bottom in our kitchen has that empty unreachable unused space! and we will have to completely change the layout of the kitchen to even put new cabinets in to use it.
Wow this is exactly what I have been looking for. I have black cabinets in the same condition. The cost to replace doors etc. and paint the cabinet boxes was ridiculous. This looks just as good as new cabinets! Thank you for making this video.
That brush was awesome! I totally want to take it to my tile floors. I loved all of the cleaning tips and tricks. The new brass hardware updates the entire look of your kitchen! Beautiful job!💗
My mom used one of the brushes in that kit to clean the grout in her tile and it worked amazing! So that might be on my next to do list. Thanks for watching friend!💕
Who knew watching a cabinet cleaning episode could make me so excited!? My cabinets are the same color as yours. I cannot wait to get cleaning!! But first I need to shop for new hardware! You can't see, but I am doing a happy dance!
You are so talented and confident with your 'machines' aka power tools. Thanks for all the things you share to make life easier, especially for older folks like myself. Cheers from an old Niner!
I bought everything on the list and am now cleaning EVERYTHING with drill attachments. Discovered my cabinets didn’t need that final polish- - Murphy’s was sufficient. Attached new knobs after ordering knobs that were 1/4” off. 🤣Thank you for my pretty “new” kitchen!
Hint. Always remove one of each handle type you are replacing and and bring it with you when you shop. If you are ordering online, measure distance on back between holes. I’ve made the same mistake you did the first time, but only because I guessed. NEVER guess. My cabinets are painted, but because I am repainting them, this will work. I know some of the paint will come off, but it doesn’t matter in this instance. Thank you so much for this tutorial. You’re a hoot. By the way, your cabinets look great and the new hardware adds a great touch. I have white cabinets with white hardware. It’s fine, but I’m switching out to black hardware. Cabinets are quite old, but I’m leaving them because I plan to move. They have the exterior hinges. I, therefore, needed to buy handles, knobs and hinges in black. I buy myself a birthday gift and for three birthdays in a row, I bought handles one year, knobs the second and hinges lastly. The hinges were the least expensive. It cost a lot because I have 27 or 29 doors in my kitchen and 15 drawers. I was also on a very tight budget. Now I have to get the paint. I’m doing the same color, decorator white. I like my house, but not the neighborhood. Hence, the move. Plus I want a smaller house with everything on the main floor, no upstairs.
I think that it would work well for painted cabinets and just knowing that you’re going to have to go in and touch up paint a little bit. Might actually be good to kind of knock off some of the loose ones that would not stick anyways. Yeah… As far as the hardware I should’ve known better... it’s so silly that that happened. I’ve been dying for a long time and that was an amateur mistake. I think black hardware will look really awesome with white cabinets. Good luck with your project!💕
Great job! It looks so much cleaner (not meaning like clean/dirty, just better looking)! overall without cabinet pulls. Likely that may cause more wear on the cabinets but those cabinets are so beautiful they don’t even need any embellishment.
Wow your kitchen cabinets look amazing, I have never seen this method of cleaning before, but my goodness it works so well. I’m loving your new hard wear to, much better than the previous ones 💐💐💐💐💐💐
Wow...your cabinets looks AWESOME. You did a great job. Thank you for sharing these tips so when the day comes when I have to do mine, I'll remember your advice.
Your video is amazing! I have the same color of cabinets we just move to this new home and we may need to postpone refreshing paint it and this was amazing can’t wait to try it!
Congratulations, they look fabulous! Actually, I like the antique finish hardware better. It accents your cabinets, backsplash and countertops muuuuuch better. Good job!
They look beautiful! I am by far no professional but I think that maybe and I say maybe hitting the wear spots first and then waxing them might have let the touch up pen work. Sometimes wax will leave a residue where the marker might not stick? Just a thought! Good job!
Wow they look brand new!! What a great idea to use the scrub brushes on cabinets! We got some recently and can’t wait to tell my hubby! Thank u for sharing n sharing the cabinet cleaner. P.S. I use a Sharpie for everything too! 😄 Brilliant to wipe it while it’s wet to blend it in. 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Designed to the Nines Awee you are the sweetest, Natalee!! 💜 I always look frwd to yours and your videos! You are such a LIGHT. It is so sweet n genuine how you take time to reply. Not very many people do that! Hugs! XO 💕
I used Liquid Gold furniture polish.. ( am oil) in the non - aresol can.. it removes greasy fingerprints and drinks into the wood to show beautiful grain! I work on my Mom’s furniture (dining chair (the rungs) and table legs) oh man they look great! I also am curious if “Rejuvenate” for renewal of wooden floors would work well! I saw the amazing Mtransformation! Soo beautiful!!
Our current pine kitchen cabinets have been in place in our old 1927 farmhouse since the early 1950's. I'm sure they were varnished at one time, but by the time we moved in recently, they were wearing more layers of fried food grease than anything else. It was disgusting! Scrubbing the cabinets with Muphy's oil soap, rinsing with a vinegar/water solution, and finally rinsing with plain water got them cleaned up, and even helped removed gummy dissolved varnish. As a temporary finish,, I oiled them with jojoba and lemon oil with rosemary and tea tree, because ... . Before painting. I'll rewash them with oil soap and rinse again.. It is worth the effort to prepare a surface before refinishing!!!
I think my biggest challenge in our kitchen has been builder grade cabinets/hickory, not my thing. But as per the advice of a long time painter, its beautiful blk now on all drawers/cabinet doors & no one guesses how I did it lol.
Oh my goodness NataLee ! Your cupboards turned out so beautifully. I have the same cabinets and always use Murphy's Oil to clean them. Love the citrus smell too. I also use the , " Sharpie " trick with my cabinets . Lol stay well and safe my friend xo
I have used Murphy’s for years it amazing. I cleaned the tops of my cabinets and it removed all of the nasty. Maybe you should have waxed after used the pen
NataLee, this video is SO helpful!! We just got a new range and microwave/hood and our cabinets are so gunky around the old ones. Thanks for sharing your great ideas!! p.s. I *knew* you were going to pull out a Sharpie when the stain pen didn't work out. haha!
Just recently purchased a similar brush set like this to use around the house. It never dawned on me to use it for my cabinets. Will definitely try this🙃.
I have always used the Murphy oil spray on my cabinets & have loved it. I’m am so excited to try the clean & polish because I have ebony cabinets & staircase in my new house & it just seems like I need a little extra something to make them look like they did when they were new. Lighter oak like I had in my old house only need Murphy oil to look great so I was worried I would need to restrain my new ones soon. Thank you so much for the great tips I need it.😁 I’ll be also looking into the brush to go on my drill.
Yes… Darker cabinets are a little bit more work to maintain… They seem to show a little bit more than a natural colored cabinets. Hopefully this video helps you! Congratulations on your new home.💕
Your results are amazing NataLee and even if your video isn’t sponsored they should come back and sponsor you now because I’m betting a bunch of us will be ordering the products. Your cabinets are gorgeous. Thanks for sharing and I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend. 🤗 #kindnessmatters
Thank you for your comment. What would you use to polish after cleaning? I have to clean and polish kitchen cabinets quick to get a house on the market.
Didn't you do this video before, like years ago? I marathoned your channel once and I could have sworn you did this vid before. Yeah I'm watching again 😂
I did a very similar video! You are very attentive! Most people wouldn’t have noticed that but this is kind of a twist on that video and more updated. 😃Thanks for watching!
Wow, great job and amazing results! We just moved into a new house in December but I am loving these tips I don’t have hardware on there yet but I do love the choice that you made! I’m still debating on whether to add hardware or not!
Yes NataLee I did enjoyed this episode and learn so much. Thank you. Looking stunning. Very modern and through my eyes is matching with you stove and fridge. Great job. Now please come visit and help me😄😃. Sorry just kidding. 😍👌🖖
Once you get it really clean it’s the cabinet cream that really fills in a lot of the scratches and such so don’t skip that step! It should help a lot.☺️💕
Love the brass!! I think the counter tops are a little dark with your new backsplash, but it's still beautiful..do you have any suggestions for oak cabinets if the stain comes off?? I'm not sure a sharpie would work for that color..lol! Thanks so much! Love it!
So unfortunately I did not pick out the counters and I was working with those to begin with. I didn’t want to replace them since they are new and in good condition. I actually went with the lighter backsplash because I thought it would brighten up that already dark kitchen which it did.😃 I Think if your kitchen are just the natural oak color you won’t need to worry so much about a stain pen because they should be the natural wood color, having said that you could try the blend and feel by Minwax which is kind of like a waxy crayon type thing and I think that could work. My mom did light colored maple cabinets that did not have a stain on them and she did not need to do that step once she cleaned and put the cabinet cream on.😃
Those cleaned up beautifully. I really like the new hardware too nice pick ! Now I need to clean mine lol they are so grody 😂😂 . I don't think the previous owners ever wiped anything 🤪🤮
I bought a home because I really liked the mahogany cabinets! Only to find out after closing that the owners half-asses painted them white. Not using the same shade nor type, water vs oil based paint. I hate the house I moved into four months ago!
Good tips, but would be helpful if you first item the products one would need and where to source them. For e.g would like to get those brushes that attach to the drill.
Oh,boy..... All of it just to say you wash your cabinets with drill attachments brushes polish them and change the cabinet knobs...Good cleaning job! -In the slew of cleaners ,that one ok -some are cheaper and better - Awesome for instance ,if your cabinets really need deep scrub use ODOBAN -its disinfect , hypoallergenic, doesnt need to be rinsed ,perfect for taking grease or anything and ... the wears better to do before polishing and -instead of black permanent marker -use markers for wood -one package contain 4 of them in all major colors of wood finishes -it would match perfect...and i meant perfect -the idea of changing hardware on cabinets -good and there -as much as wallet let and heart desires ,btw -most of new hardwares come with its own screws, however the old one after cleaning can be sell or donated ...
Designed to the Nines I got your back lol Where can you purchase that... I’ve used so many expensive cleaners and nothing works I still get smears 🤦🏼♀️
They have it in most stores now. I’ve seen it in target as well as Walmart and even our local Publix. It’s my favorite window cleaner because it smells like mint instead of the Windex smell. 😝
Hi. I just came upon your video, loved it! Your kitchen is beautiful! I do have a question? Your Mum had wood cabinets, I believe you said maple. I have oak and need to do what you showed, but do you know if I then restain them and put a sealant on? I have no idea. I am new at all this!!😀 I am getting ready to watch another video of yours!! Thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge!!
Nice video. What is the source material for the white kitchen picture? I want that kitchen. White and stainless steel is my jam. Keep up the good work.

Yes, the Sharpie trick. It works much better and costs a lot less than the stainarkers. Beautifully done ❤
This made such a huge difference!! And they look new!! I’ve actually used dark brown sharpies before and they work like wood stain!!!

The brush is such a great idea.
They look fantastic. I need to try this on my cabinets, I’ve noticed the tops are a little dingy from cooking.
Overtime they just start to look tired looking even if you wipe them down. Thanks for watching!
Looks great NataLee!!! Love how you brought them back to life. 🙌🏼💕

Lovely clean up and nice knobs and handles!

I have used Murphy’s for years it amazing. I cleaned the tops of my cabinets and it removed all of the nasty. Maybe you should have waxed after used the pen
The reason I didn’t do that is because I felt like the wax might take off the stain pen... but definitely worth a try! Maybe next time…
I love your ideas ! I just ordered my brush kit. Thanks for great videos !
Awesome! Good luck with your project. Thanks for watching.😊💕
Love the outcome! You nailed it again
Thank you Marty!😃
Cabinets are beautiful.
Thank you! )
Loved this so simple yet such a big visual upgrade. Great job
You should have used the Mahogany Minwax marker
Southern Indiana is watching.
Awesome. Thanks!! =)
They look beautiful
NataLee, this video is SO helpful!! We just got a new range and microwave/hood and our cabinets are so gunky around the old ones. Thanks for sharing your great ideas!!

love this! Is it necessary to take off the hardware? will it ruin them?
Thank you so much for info!
They look amazing, Natalee!
Thanks Tammy!😃💕
Great job and the cabinets look so nice. I just found your channel so new subscriber here!!
Thanks Gigi!!
I have got to get the brushes. Your cabinets look like new again. I have cherry cabinets and they need these products. Lol. Thank you for sharing ♡
I am so happy to help! Thank you for watching. Good luck with your project. 💕
I refinish cabinets for a living. Only Use dawn and a sponge. Wipe dry. Her cleaner didn’t even cut the oil.
Thank you for your comment. What would you use to polish after cleaning? I have to clean and polish kitchen cabinets quick to get a house on the market.
The refresh looks awesome! I’m so glad you didn’t paint them like everyone else is doing. It’s amazing what a lil elbow work can do👍
So true! Thank you so much Sharon!
Thanks NataLee! Oh and Murphy's OIL soap + wax = barrier for stain! Lol I would have done it too, if I hadn't seen you do it!!!
It did actually work when I tried it. But I think I might’ve put more cabinet cream on them the first time.😆
@@designedtothenines Ok so we just blame the stain marker! 😂 That our story!

Can’t wait to fix my cabinets
I love this. I wonder if removes light scratches. My kids have scratched ours and it’s a rental so I better try this before we move 🥰
Once you get it really clean it’s the cabinet cream that really fills in a lot of the scratches and such so don’t skip that step! It should help a lot.☺️💕
But hopefully you’re not moving for a while… LOL!💕

Thanks so much..like I said, your kitchen is beautiful!😊 my oak cabinets are acorn finishe, thanks so much for your help!
You can also use shoe polish, my sweet Aunt showed me that on a photo frame it works prefect!
Oh I love this idea! Definitely gonna try that. Thanks Diane! 😃💕

That brush will definitely work on my greasy cabinets. Just moved in and they are very greasy
Wondering if the stain stick would have worked if you did it before you polished.... Nice cabinets.
Super! Thanks fo sharing!
So i guess that i can use my spinny brush ? instead of buying this one ? thanks for answer
How do you keep you stainless steel so clean?
I love your cabinets & backsplash... Thanks for showing the easiest way! 😘
You are so welcome! Honestly, I was out of stainless steel cleaner so I just used Method Mint Window Cleaner. =) Sssh! Our secret! ;)
Designed to the Nines
I got your back lol
Where can you purchase that... I’ve used so many expensive cleaners and nothing works I still get smears 🤦🏼♀️
They have it in most stores now. I’ve seen it in target as well as Walmart and even our local Publix. It’s my favorite window cleaner because it smells like mint instead of the Windex smell. 😝
Thank you so much for responding... You are awesome!!! 🤗❤️
That photo was just a stock photo... I do love a white kitchen too. They are classic and timeless. 😃💕
So talented and inspirational!! Thank you for sharing all your tips with us!! 🥰
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it.=)
Your house was also built with really nice cabinets. Unlike mine, which was built in the 80's, we're going to have to really do some upgrades. LOL.
Go for it! You've got this!
Just paint them white or another color.
I just painted my very dated wood/builder grade a dark blue with new gold hardware. Such a great change.
