- Jaime Turner & Cheryl Stewart are asking the sharks for $100K for a 15% stake in their company Koala Karma. The two entrepreneurs created a relaxation drink designed for clarity, concentration and calmness.
An international sensation, Shark Tank AUS features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Tank from our Sharks, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

From what I can tell, this episode aired in 2015, and currently Koala Karma is still in business with 6 employees generating about $1million in revenue. They ditched adding tryptophan, opting to use chamomile and magnesium as their key ingredients for relaxation.
Definately would like to try but never seen the beverage. Good to know they are doing well, most likely because of international sales from China and Hong Kong.
Hah , that’s An amazing number .
I'd wear a mascot suit for $100+ k a year :D
Thanks for the update, I love knowing what happened with these products after the show
@zid You sure that's for Koala Karma and not some other company named Koala?
The mascot’s inability to see out of the costume was a metaphor for how well those ladies understood how to get an investment from the sharks.
😂also it costs a few thousand to get a mascot made n not sure y they had one in the first place
“We haven’t done clinical trials-“
Pack it up! We’re done. *closes notebook*
I love how they just cut her off at the end with the outro music
I screamed 😂😂😂
Everything involving food and drinks, Steve is out. He loves sampling food at least.
Bro, I know Steve from my friend who worked for him. To my surprise, Steve's portfolio is very diversed 60% technology, 20% consulting, 10% food & beverage, 5% construction and 5% agriculture
I think Steve will only invest in foods that are more common as opposed to a targeted audience.
Justin- He LOVES to "sample" the alcohol beverages for sure! 😂🤣😂
@@rahulreddyedunuthula suuuuuurreeee ya do.... 🙄 And I know him through my cousin's neighbor's best friend's little brother's 5th grade teacher... lol 😉
Because food and beverage is often low barrier to entry, gimmicky and niche. Everyone thinks they can do it, few can. This shit here will never find anywhere near the market of an energy drink.
This was the most relaxing denial yet tho
They also are coming out with an energy drink called Drop Bear Karma
I like the idea behind it, but the lack of clinical trials would worry me too much.
The fact that it says on the can one per day, if you are stressed then you are not going to listen to that. It is like me saying I am going to have one ciggie a day, when I am a heavy smoker.
That's way too much tryptophan. Only able to have 1 can per day? Wouldn't you want people to buy and drink as much as possible?
So true. I'd also be concerned for kids. Not sure what the side effect would be if they had a few. Not like kids read labels.
@@NotThatBob I looked them up and they're still in business. Seems like they scrapped the idea of using tryptophan all together. Which I think was a good thing. Still unsure if they recommend only one can per day though.
Considering tryptophan is in many foods as well could have some serious ramifications. I'm glad they removed it.
@@Eidolon1andOnly Kids end up in the hospital regularly from playing video games and drinking Red Bull and such. Not sure this was any worse. But parents need to seriously cut back the chemicals going into kid's bodies.
BTW, If they get their product selling, good on them. I like the guys, just not the chemicals.
BTW, thanks for the update.
What about caffeine in soft drinks? After drinking 250 cans of Mountain Dew, the amount of caffeine would be LETHAL!!! :-O (LD50 of caffeine is around 150mg/kg and 54mg of caffeine in a single can.) Likely there would be some deadly effects after even a few dozen cans.
Wait...there are "food ingredients" that are banned in China but are not banned in Australia?
I think this should be the biggest takeaway from this episode! lol
Thats the first thing that came to my mind too. 👍🏼😎
Magnesium is banned in China?
Omg other countries ban shit that others don't? First time from out of under your rock lol?
@@gimpyrules6714 China is famous for a lack of regulation in food ingredients, you dunce.
China and Asia has stricter regulations against mood altering substances. That’s why many medications for pain killers, anti-depressants, etc. are illegal there. For China, it goes back to the opium war when the west forced the trade of narcotics on them.
Lack of a clear strategy from the duo and the absence of a target market killed their chance of getting a deal.
Andrew : Bye Mr. 🐨 Koala you look cool
Big name brands put out relaxation drinks five years ago in the US, they did not last very long. They went from being in every convenience store, to no longer on the shelves in a year or two.
The branding angle with the Koala as the flagship figure is interesting for that international lens 🐨
Steve always eats the freebies but says im Out mate. Cheers 🍻
There’s already a Karma Cola in the U.K. Pretty tasty
Really? I’m from the uk and have never seen it… where do they sell it? I kinda wanna try-I’m always fucking stressed!
If I want to relax I will just go on a 5 mile walk come back and be relaxed.
How does that compare to drinking a drink? This is a dumb product but a drink and a walk are not the same
Who is your target?
Everyone who is stressed.
Can i buy 100 cans please? 😂😂😂
The mascot is sleeping if he can't see bruh I would definitely sleep if I can't see
Lol.... It's called alcohol. Calms, relaxes and much more
TCH and cannabis is being used in US
4:00 Mm so too much of this drink could cause serotonin syndrome...?
6:11 uh--so
so reformulated...banned...is the reformulated version there for them to try too?
8:09 omg that was so loud
None of the sharks asked what made their product more appealing or effective than existing supplements.
Hi! :) All shark tank pitches can range from 1-2 hours long and their editors have to cut it down to 8-10 mins, important questions get cut to fit the time frame.
Yo i dont even think that that was necessary after they sayd we havent done trials and they put way to much limited substances in wich would limit their sails an so growth
How do you argue having a market for a revised version of a product you aren’t willing to show and back up that it does anything???
When I saw it I felt it had legs and apparently it was a success and still producing.
I just dont like the design and the can.
What are the affects of overdosing on this product.
Is that a blind Koala?
I don't think it will sell in Australia. It's one of the most stress free place to work. Try selling that in Asian countries, i think they need it.
There's a ton of these types of drinks in New York, I think they should consider going to the US.
scary mascot..
I guess they do not realise koala's are only relaxed when not raping and fighting. Indeed they do seem calm when they are out of their minds of drugs and hanging knock out somewhere in a tree, :p
Maybe they just need this drink.
The sharks were such big babies about the “only one Kimmy day“ thing. Most energy drinks have a similar warning from anywhere from 1 to 3 drinks maximum for your safety.
When you realize that everyone knows its a scam
Now drink industry is very competitive !
720p??
lol its 2021
Anybody American but reading the comments in an Australian accent?
Maybe a specific first market can be any kind of addicts
Not clinically tested? 🧐 I'm out!
You don't need clinical trials to know that tryptophan relaxes you.
@@billsmith8825 that’s not common knowledge
@@peauntbutterxboy93 you may not know what it's called, but it is common knowledge. That is the ingredient that makes you sleepy after you eat turkey dinner because turkey is high in tryptophan.
Barbara calls from US to tell that she is Out!
Paty desde México:
Si no lo llamas Tecnochitlantl Drink estoy fuera
Will marijuana be legalised in Australia?
I love how Australian's prounce know as Nuh-er.
RELAXING but not alcoholic, BS. 😂
I kinda want to try it now. Before bed, pass the fuck out.
Barbara calling from US saying that she’s out.
She would never invest that kind of money on a phone call!
Are they selling chloroform?
Lets grabs some natural herbs and amino acids and make it into a drink then sell it for millions!
Please Editors! Remove the Cackle on all from the “Red Balloon” it is Sincerely Disturbing
Kalm Koala would've been better name.
3 to 4$ 😂😂 this is a joke, and no prob that work.
Why does Naomi, so often, look like she is about to fall asleep or just woken up? Does she get her fair share of sleep, is the real question. Look after your wellness or else you be forced to look after your illness
Deadmouse in the building
Their idea is bogus, but saying it doesn't work after just drinking it is pretty fucking stupid lol
The digestive system doesn't work like that
Looks like they were valued at 150mill recently so not doing bad
I conclude that Jennys OUT again!
Hilarious. And original.
😂😂
So you produce at 0.7 and sell for 22 greedy!
Snake oil.
now they are bankrupt.
3,50 per drink? No thank you
Without joking, this is a very dramatised Shark Tank reaction. RedBull Is The Toughest drink out there. This is a drink within limitations.
I’m number 1
The sharks will never invest in anything natural because they have money invested in pharmaceuticals
Tryptophan is what's in turkeys to make you sleepy. These ladies are lost. They bit off more then they could chew.
L theanine?????
Norks.
Nothing carming about Karma
Neuro drink relax blue bottle 🍸😋🤪👌😌😜🍸😋🤪
I don’t like how they are using innocent animals as a way to target their products. !!
The animals aren’t being harmed in anyway you know right?
How can you not have Magnesium in China? That's kind of looney. Everyone (every human) needs an RDA level of Magnesium every day... (REALLY.)
Maybe their soil is rich n don't need an artificial source
Whatever her name in red is: she is melting like a witch over the years and I can die happy with that.
I think she looks fucking amazing! But then I don’t know how old she is…
Whoever does the editing for these episodes is awful. Why are there so many random pauses?
They should’ve done the clinical trials first, There are several bad news of bad things happened to people who drinks more RedBull, they should’ve learn the lesson from energy drinks
An alcoholic relaxation drink????! What a dumb idea, let’s relax while we ruin our liver.
It's not alcoholic...it was even stated in the pitch
Worst pitch i've ever seen. So inexperienced and naive!
sorry but that was pathetic
First
They watched 3 RUclips vids about waHMEN EmPOwerMeNt and decided to stuff turkey into a can. 👌
THEIR ACCENT IS KINDA ANNOYING TOO. both the Brits and them.
Hi stranger. Just wanted to let you know that Jesus loves you and so do I
Jesus never existed, be religious not dumb .
