    I have a green XX and a white XVIII ... love them both. They're my most worn, most versatile, most legible watches. If IWC would just make slightly smaller watches with their other non-pilot lines, I would think they could crush the market.

      Great pieces!
      Maybe they could score more market share that way… Or maybe game theory says that if everyone competes for the same market, no one thrives. It’s ok to have something that isn’t for everyone. It may even confer longevity at the expense of growth, since fashion trends come and go.

    I have the Mark 18 “Le Pettit Prince” on a stainless steel bracelet and is a fantastic watch just like the Mark 20. The IWC’s are vertical addictive!

    This is my grail watch. And as you say this watch and the Tudor BB 36 have similar blue dials, the best ones imo. Amazing watch, congratulations

    Great watch. I have a Mark 16 and even though it's older and doesn't have a quick adjust, the bracelet is super thin and the overall weight of the watch is very comfortable.
    By the way, I'd suggest moving a link from the 6 o'clock side and putting it on the 12 o'clock side. Just the way the human wrist is structured, when a watch is centered on the top of your wrist, there should be more "strap" length on the 12 o'clock than the 6 o'clock so that when it meets on the bottom of your wrist, it's centered. Right now your clasp seems to be too far towards the 12 o'clock.

    Almost sold on this. I think it would've looked better with an oyster bracelet. nice review

    • @Randyswatches
      @Randyswatches  4 месяца назад +1

      The mark XX gets the most views, but the spitfire really is a killer watch as well. I also wouldn’t trade this bracelet for an oyster at all. If you don’t like the bracelet, I recommend the aqua terra, or just get an explorer.

    Only problem is the AR coating on the outside is that it will get scratched up. The AR coating on my speedmaster x33 is all scratched up. Gotta send it to Omega for servicing anyways and not looking forward to that bill. I love IWC and had a few aquatimers.

      I haven’t had this issue, but I’m sure it’s possible. I suppose there’s always a give-and-take. I’m currently wearing mine on a ski trip and the blue against the white backdrop is stunning. And no surface scratches yet 🤞

    As you personally own all three watches, your review excels everything in youtube on current IWC models. I bought a vintage Mark XV for its perfect proportions. However, even after service by IWC it never held the time. How precise do your spitfire and Mark XX watches run?

    • @Randyswatches
      @Randyswatches  3 месяца назад

      Hello. The spitfire and Mark XX are a few seconds/day fast. The 41 chrono is 7 seconds/day slow. These are all very acceptable.
      I’m not sure if yours is magnetized or what the issue is, but that sucks. How far off is it? I set mine exactly to an iPhone one morning and then checked it 3 days later to see how far off it is. Sometimes the perceived difference is more than the actual deviation. Maybe speaking to the IWC service department directly could help.

    Love your passion for IWC. I’m equally enamored with the brand. I bought the white dial Mark XX last fall. Still love it. But I LOVE the blue dial too. So tempted to buy the blue dial on a blue leather strap, knowing I can switch the bracelet to either watch. Am I nuts to buy the blue in the same model? Have also thought about getting the blue dial 43mm Big Pilot. I owned it in the past and sold it. Big mistake. I’ve done that with watches too many times. That blue sailcloth strap looks amazing on the blue dial.

      It’s a journey. I’m infatuated with them all. I think your journey is your own, and there’s no shame in rectifying a mistake, but maybe consider something outside of your style comfort zone that would be an occasional or weekend piece rather than an everyday. And maybe let it come to you rather than pursuing a look.
      As for the straps, call the 1916 company and let them know you need IWC straps. The concierge will hook you up with genuine straps at a discount, or consider thestraptailor.com and search IWC.

    Great review & congrats for Mark XX. What is your wrist size ? It looks very well on your wrist. Is the bracelet comfortable for daily wear ?

    • @Randyswatches
      @Randyswatches  4 месяца назад

      16 centimeters, or 6.25 inches. My wrist fluctuates in size quite a bit throughout the day, so in the morning on the smallest setting, it’s a little bit loose and then, every once in a while, I let out 2 to 3 clicks. If I take another link out it’s a little bit too small.
      The bracelet is extremely comfortable for all day wear. I have worn more comfortable bracelets, like the Parmigiani, but it is not adjustable and I simply can’t own it.

  • @LarsVader23

    Great video, thanks a bunch.
    The white dial version of the Mark XX is non reflective? Did I get this right? So we have a sunburst metallic reflection on the black, blue and green dials but the white is completely flat? I’m still undecided if I should go with either the black or the white dial version.

    • @Randyswatches
      @Randyswatches  2 месяца назад +1

      Good question. The white dial is not a flat white, or matte. It has some luster. There is a flat white dial on the top gun aces, but that has a completely lumed dial. It goes well with the steel.

      @@Randyswatches Its weird that only so few videos of IWC watches exist especially for the Mark XX in white.
      All the more reason your videos are a real blessing.
      Would be nice if you could show the reflections of your IWCs crystals compared to your other watches. The glass of your ceratanium chrono in particular looks like it doesn’t reflect at all.

  • @doukhobar

    Are the numbers and/ or indices having lume, or only at the 3/6/9? That's killing me on the Mark series, whereas the Big Pilot 43 has a fully lumed dial.

    • @Randyswatches
      @Randyswatches  3 месяца назад

      Yes. However it does not bother me. It’s just to beautiful for me to care. Perhaps a Sinn or Zenith would be more your style.

    • @doukhobar
      @doukhobar 3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks. I have a nice Sinn with excellent lume. Too bad IWC doesn't offer full lume on their 40mm pilots. How do you tell time quickly at night with only the compass points? Even then, the 3 o'clock point wouldn't seem to have any lume at all due to the date? A weird design feature/flaw IMO.

    Does the second hand jump when you pull the crown to the outer most position?

    • @Randyswatches
      @Randyswatches  4 месяца назад +1

      Not typically. Sometimes when the power reserve is very low, but not dead, the hands jump a little. But I’ve never had a problem with the second hand jumping when trying to set the time exactly. That would drive me crazy.

      @@drstevengillistry setting it, then pushing it in only one click to the date adjustment. Then click it down. It might be unavoidable just due to pushing in the crown quickly and some rotational translation of your thumb. I’m able to set mine without issue this way, but sometimes it does jump and I do it a second time.

    For this price though, watch needs to metas or at least cosc certified 😢

    • @Randyswatches
      @Randyswatches  16 часов назад

      I used to think that, but I don’t need a 3rd party to tell me it is accurate. If IWC sells it, it is accurate and waterproof. Patek doesn’t give you a COSC certification either and they cost much more.
