I was considering buying an Aqua Terra, but then I tried on the Mark XX. It's not as flashy as an AT -- it's not even as flashy as a Seiko 5 -- but for me that's a plus. Omega has a better movement, but the wearing experience of the IWC is unequalled by anything I've tried on. I bought the Mark XX, and the rest of my collection languishes in the box.
Unreal. The same thing happened to me. IWC wax not on my radar at all. However, I tried it on. And that was end of story. I wear the watch pretty much exclusively now.
If picking one of these two there's no losing. I've owned both, great watches. The IWC has imo one of the best bracelets around with a wonderful micro adjust in the clasp, I think it beats the omega there, also the ease-xchange system is convenient. The AT is beautiful, wish they did a better bracelet but the rubber strap is fantastic. The depth and texture of the dial is striking. Both wonderful watches.
Wow you really knocked it out of the park with this one man. Perfect comparison! And my two favourite watch brands and lines nonetheless. Needless to say, there're both winners for me.
Nice comparison, thanks. The Omega is the superior watch overall, with its Marine Chronometer movement and it more versatile aesthetic. It is truly an "only one" wristwatch.
In a side-by-side comparison, I liked the Aqua Terra better. However, when I saw them on the wrist, I liked the IWC much better. Just goes to show: don't buy a watch you haven't had on your wrist before. Thanks for the great video.
I have the railmaster, and it has the same braclet as the Aqua Terra. I could only take off one link, and don't get a perfect fit. It works fine, it just slides up and down a lot. Something everyone interested in these watches should think about with that bracelet. My wrist for reference is about 19.5 cm.
Back in Jan 2022 I was so damn close to buying the green AT41 a couple months after I bought my blue SMP300M. But then I saw the IWC Pilot's Chronograph 41 in green on the leather strap and got that instead haha. But that green AT41 is so killer nonetheless...but the IWC green is king on the green dials.
I wouldn't mind having both honestly, they're different enough each would get plenty of wrist time and I wouldn't feel like one is strictly better than the other.
I own the aqua terra in black teak dial. I have to say it’s a gorgeous watch, but you highlighted two of my major complaints. 1. Top heavy. 2. No micro adjust. This does make the watch a little uncomfortable on straps, finding the right size and being top heavy moving around a lot. I like a loose watch fit, but the top heavy nature make this annoying as the watch then moves a lot.
IWC Mark XX at grey prices is one of the best watches at the price point. Wears like a dream even on smaller wrists and fits almost any occasion. Get it on the bracelet, absolutely no regrets.
Had a chance to try both today. The AT was blingy and the bracelet needed some fiddling to close the butterfly clasp. For easier grab and go daily wear I chose to get the Blue IWC.
I have both. The Mark xx is more legible. The easy exchange bracelet on IWC has been a big problem. For some reason the release tab rubs my wrist and the watch falls off my wrist several times almost losing the watch. IWC says no problem even after sent back twice. Then they acknowledged problem and said they fixed it but it came off when I was riding my bike. I put a secure strap on the watch and put the bracelet in the box and won’t chance it again
I have a Mark 16 spitfire and sent it to IWC for servicing. Came back 0.0 seconds per day and 0.0 beat error. That was 2 yrs ago and while I don't wear it everyday, it keeps those specs when I do put it on. I'm sure Omega's movement is top notch but I have zero complaints about my IWC.
If you had the chance to buy a black aquaterra in rubber strap or a black/white mark xx in bracelet, which one would u think is the best for a everydau use?
@@rodrigosaccosilva7109 the Aqua Terra on rubber strap is a more versatile timepiece, but it does cost more. I would go with the Aqua Terra on rubber, as I'm a huge fan of that configuration, but the IWC is amazing, especially the bracelet. No matter what choice you make, both will be fantastic watches for everyday use.
Both are great watches but the IWC bracelet is hands down better. IWC Mark XX is a near perfect daily do-almost anything watch, however they need to do better on luming the entire dial. Personal preference... Both very nice.
Para mi son tan diferente las dos que no se pueden comparar, una es mas elegante para diario vivir, hablo de la omega,la otra mas deportiva y informal aunque elegante, dificil escoger, osea para mi lo mejor seria tener las dos..
IWC MARK XX for me. Better legibility and not as flashy as the Aqua Terra. I also think that the Mark XX is more versetaile as the Aqua Terra especially with the bracelett.
What a great video. Omega has a stronger reach with their availability, which is unfortunate because you really should try on both and decide. I personally think the Mark xx is a better watch, from personal experience.
I own the exact Aqua Terra but in the blue. Believe me, it is a head turner, and when I also say it was worn by James Bond in Skyfall, it makes an even bigger impression. The IWC looks good, but I don't think it is in the same ballpark as the Omega.
I had the Omega and sold it. It's too thick for what it is. The IWC is much more comfortable and has a better profile and substantially better bracelet and clasp.
Omega watches use a fantastic movement, have great certification and are very high quality products. However almost every aspect of most of their watches need to be redesigned. There is something majorly wrong with every model aside from the speedmaster. Aquaterra should be a thinner watch with a superior bracelet if it costs more then a sea-master
The IWC just doesn't come together for me. Nice bracelet, but the dial doesn't work that well with it and looks a bit cheap once you get over the burst effect. Omega by default, although 41m a bit big.
Omega for me has been a pretty poor buy in the only 3 I have owned. All have had real problems. I've never owned an IWC but I'm going to buy and see how it gets on.
Great video! I love the omega AT - the movement, the display case back, the dial, the jumping hour hand. They also have 38mm now although without the jumping hour hand. The mark XX however is more comfortable - the thinnrss, the bracelet and clasp. It is the best one watch collection from convenience and quality ratio! @@Mega-zi7ys I am not comparing - I am considering it along the AT and mark XX, of course taking into account the price for these 3 watches. I have the Aqua Terra and lume sucks, it’s top heavy and no Tfit. I then bought the submariner and it doesn’t compare. The submariner wins hands down. The lume on mark xx was not impressive. The Aqua Terra cost me $6200 and no on the fly adjustment is sad for that price. I was my first luxury watch and I will not buy another watch without tfit. I ended up getting the Rolex even though it was close to $1700 more, even if they aren't as well known or has the heritage of Omega I just prefer the more simplistic design.
do not understand why the AT is so thick.... should be 2mm thinner and it would so much better....still a boring watch though. Good video though... not too thick and certainly not boring!
Excellent comparison. I've never understood the IWC. All that money for a dressed-up version of a military-issue type watch, the originals of which would have very much been built down to a budget. Smacks of rich guys playing soldiers I'm afraid and profoundly lacks credibility. The AT on the other hand, and for all its faults, is a cohesive, modernish design and all the better for it.
Nope, rich guys flying their own planes or driving their Porsches to track days. The AT are much more likely to be someone’s grail watch, while the XX are most likely to be someone’s third or fourth tiered watch. There owners are not really in the same demographic.
