I wish you tried fresh dolmadakia and giant beans. The canned version of them really distorts their flavor.
Do you put meat in dolmadakia? Greetings from Bulgaria. We call them sarmi here.
@@jordan9339 Zdravei neighbor. There are people who also add minced meat but i think that the most popular version is the one without meat. Dolmadakia are also known as sarmadakia here, which sounds a bit more similar to the word you use.
By the way, we also have another version of this food but with cabbage leaf instead of vine leaf. In that version we add minced meat more often. Do you have that too?
@@stratvar Yes, we do have it. Also called sarma. Sarmi is plural for sarma. But since no one eats one :) plural is used more often. In pickled cabbage leafs.
Now I know to eat dolmadakia and sarmadakia in Greece. We have musaka also, but it's totally different than yours.

Yassas guys from Athens. Just some information on the food Maria sent:
"Ampelicious" doesn't mean anything; it's a combination of ampeli (vineyard) and delicious
The herb that Satoshi can taste in the dolmades is dill; they also have spring onions in them. You don't necessarily have to heat them up firsf; nobody I know does.
The cookies are a type of cookie known as voutimata; they are made to be dunked into coffee, tea or milk whuch is why they're a bit dry. The jam is probably apricot.
I'm glad that you enjoyed them.
the coockies are called pti four

Yassou, guys! That was a fun taste-testing video from a country which is close to my heart. Thank you! LOVE the dolmadakia (little dolmades). Yes, the sourness is lemon and the herb flavor is mint and/or dill. Maybe one day you two will visit Greece together and give us walking tours and food reviews (sprinkled among lots of R&R ツ ). I'd love to hear Satoshi's descriptions of foods so unfamiliar to him.
Glad you liked it guys. Love Japan, greetings from Greece!

hi from Greece, ION chocolate is the best!!!!Glad you enjoyed those snacks.
Greece and Japan should do some culture exchange, especially about food. I lost my head when I tried the traditional food during my trip to Japan. It's probably the only country I could live in, except Greece!
It said on the label that the red stuffed veggie was actually a tomato. And I would imagine the jam in the cookies was apricot.
I would have guessed fig.
It's Apricot jam indeed
That is a good selection ! that was Nice of her to send all that. Greek people are Awesome.
Aw thank you my good person 🤗

Pow right in the Nostalgia. When I was a student, those tinned foods were all I ate. My friends thought I was weird but they never knew how much they were missing. out. The Ion is one of my fave chocolate and the fountoukakia are like peanut butter in crisp form. Fantastic job Maria.

Myself being Greek, I must say, Greeks have the best food.
True that.
As a non-Greek, I agree.

@@michaellejeune7715 similar. I don't know about best, but it's sooooo good
The stuffed peppers can be done with ground beef, my mom makes it that way.
Also I have a feeling the jam in the cookies could be fig. That's a very popular flavour in Greece
Nope it's most definitely apricot jam
I've been many times in Greece, never had that food canned, my greek friends mum can kill for that! lol

Put the giant beans on the oven first, if you eat them cold you loose taste, use bread for the sauce and add some fried potatoes. Combine alcohol such as a small glass of raki or ouzo and for the end have a spoon sweet. Thats how you eat giant beans xD

Well Satoshi, Now I have watched this video I am definitely feeling cheerful 😄😄😄😄😄
Guys in the comments, it's really hard or even impossible to send cooked food from Europe to Asia. Sending canned foods was the best option, so please be kind. Yes, eating these foods fresh and made from mama and with feta is the best, but that's all that was possible!!
Always makes me feel good to watch you two 💜
First and foremost, i really like your videos and i m glad you like greek food! Secondly you should definitely try a traditional dessert soked in serope which is called 'baklavas' and another one, similar to this, which has crambled nuts in it(my personal favourite). Moving on, i strongly believe that all the food in cans that you tried have nothing to do with how most greeks' food tastes like . I personally dont like industrialised greek food; sometimes i dont even like traditional greek food in restaurants😅😆 when a meal is cooked by an every-day greek sitizen, it tastes better as it contains special ingredients which are passed from generation to generation and it is cooked with love 😊 you have to try all these fresh , and not in a can .. you will adore them afterwards 😘 (like i adore them, but only eat them if they are cooked from my grandma and only ) lastly, the dolmades can be cooked with meat but also they can be vegan. But if the ingredients are poor in vegetables and spices, vegan dolmades might be tasteless or have a weird smell.
❤ I LOVE Dolmades!!
Half of those things are Turkish.
🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷
Sorry guys.
Greek food is so delicious! I love dolmas, and I have had the marinated giant beans before. They are so good! Thank you for thinking of me when you saw the photo of the almond blossoms on the chocolate package. It is funny. The squirrels ate most of the almonds on the tree here before they got ripe, but there are still one or two on the tree. I should take another photo for you! They look funny when they are growing. They are green and have a furry skin. I hope you are both doing well this week.
Don't forget Souvlaki and Spannakopita. Too good! 😂😂
The cookies you tasted are called πτι φουρ (pti fur) and they are not technically of greek origin but rather of french one, so you could say they are a greek rendition of the french "petit four" which means "little oven", and got that name I think because they were cooked in large brick ovens with the remaining heat, after everything else had been baked.
They are essentially crumbly, shortbread, buttery cookies with either a layer of jam or chocolate cream sandwiched between them, and then dipped in chocolate only from one side and finally the chocolate part gets covered with either dry coconut or chocolate sprinkles. I'm almost certain that the jam was apricot, as this flavor is almost exclusively used in commercially made and packaged "πτι φουρ" here in Greece.
Omg you are so advanced into greek snacking right now!!

Maybe you will be interested? I think cherry blossom, cherries, and almond trees are all related so that’s why they look so similar.
Perhaps the flavor in the sweet dessert is orange blossom.

Every single thing in this looked glorious!
Long time ago, I was very young, still living with my parents. They were traveling somwhere. I decided to cook something and I get some fresh lamb meat, expecting that there is spinach in the fridge. The frozen "spinach" was frozen grape leaves, but I understand that after I cooked it. We have in Bulgaria also these dolmades-rise with little minced meat in grape leaves. The lamb with grape leaves was surprisingly tasty. It was so funny. My friends liked it a lot also.
