Thanks for this video! You helped a 29 year old woman figure out why her stove burner kept getting bright red on a low setting. I purchased and replaced the part myself thanks to this video. It is working like it should now.
I'm a industrial maintenance electrician with more certifications than brain cells left and seriously, skid bro, I learn a ton from your videos and usually get a good laugh. Now I'm fixing all kinds of appliances around the house instead of just junking them. Thanks man!
Good job Lex. I totally rebuilt a 1995 Whirlpool kitchen stove just this morning. $247 parts and labor. The stove is now good for another 25 years. LOL. Some homeowner's just can't let go of their old cookstove. I've got 3 more work orders left to do today. My world is a tent house contract maintenance paradise.
At 2:27 minute mark, you talk about using a flathead screwdriver to help remove the wires without damaging them. That's exactly the kind of tips/tricks I'm looking for, cuz' if anything can wrong, it always does for me. Thanks for the awesome tip!!
I just subscribed to this channel like 2 weeks. Then I see this video come into my notifications. It’s crazy because my dads electric counter top stove is doing this exact thing. Now I get to go fix it and look like a handyman in front of my dad.
Nice! 👍😆👍 Easy fix. If you need to buy switches, I left links in the description. Just make sure you search for your brand stove and match the picture. Thank you so much for watching Flowtester!
Thanks for the uploads, Lex! I learn a lot from them. I've been in high rise building maintenance for 1.5 years now and love the company I am with! I had lots of renovation and construction knowledge before this ( basic plumbing and electrical as well ) I will be signing up for BOMI courses next month to work towards a few tickets. I love that every day is a little bit different than the day before. We've got about 285 suites in the highrise building ( and 12 of them are big 2 storey townhouses attached to the tower as well ) I love to learn and I usually go with the contractors to watch and learn from them too. My knowledge is so much higher, just from doing that one thing too. We've got 2 large boilers that I am familiar with now, 3 massive domestic hot water tanks and multiple booster pumps and controllers, some heat pumps and a large MUA on the roof. No AC attached to it though. Just a few stand along condensers for some certain amenities rooms ( theater, coffee room, office, top floor lounge etc. ) It's a pretty sweet building. Minus the water leaks hahaha. Thanks again for the videos...keep em coming! I particularly like the appliance repair ones as we do fix a lot of machines in my building as well. I also like your HVAC vids too. Hell...I like em all lol! Take care man.
Thank you for sharing this video I’m a single woman that stays in an apartment. I submitted a work order but I was still curious to see what the maintenance personal was going to do to fix this issue.
Bronner's CHRISTmas Wonderland. I used to love going there when I was a kid. Haven't been there in about 10 years or so. Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed.
Hi, very informative video. I’m having issues my two big coil burners on my Frigidaire stove not staying at one heating level. They go from very hot to simmer constantly. Any idea of what could be my problem? Thank you.
Having a problem with burners that stayed on high when you turned them down, I saw a comment on a video recently where a guy talked about making adjustments to the switch. If you have it off and, hold it with one hand, and turn the know with the other you will see that it moves inside. After ordering a couple new dual switches, the old switches seem to work like they should. I am thinking it is possible that these switched get gummed up a bit and stick. I do believe that this problem is not one to mess with, but at 68 years old and having 7 adult children, and 10 grand-children, it's always a good idea to see if something can be fixed.
Hi I found your video, thank you for it but what if I have a ge electric stove and ALL the burners seem too hot, not one allows me to simmer anything they all boil. Any suggestions?
What if the switch in the back doesn't look burnt in back of stove on the GE stove burner. We have the same problem an took back off an looks bran new just like outher switch's in back
@@LexVance Thank you for responding so quickly. That's what I thought too an maybe the switch is bad like said an it's wierd man. Great video. I have a 1956 Frigidaire electric range. Everything is working as I'd expect. We did not that when the oven is on we feel heat coming up through the burner holes. Burners are off, but feel the heat penetrating up. Its enough heat that it would burn you if you were to be baking something for an hour or so. Any ideas to troubleshoot?

Hello thank you for your video it sabe me a lot of money but I followed to the T ur instructions but when I tested it my switches are mirror big burner to the right instead of the left and viceversa what did I do wrong..?? helllllp please.
When these switches fail can the cause the temp to fluctuate from low to max heat over and over when the dial is set on medium? If not is it a bad or wrong element that would cause that? I'm also trying to find out why some elements are made for GE and Hotpoint and some for all other brands.
If the elements look good and there are no breaks or pits on them, I'd say the switch is bad and making the temperature fluctuate. GE and Hotpoint are within the same company. I believe Hotpoint is the lower level model.
I just replaced one of these switches on our range a few months ago, and it's doing it again. Anything else I should check, or was the replacement switch just bad? Any possibility it's the temperature probe in the burner (glass top range). Thanks!
Check the switch and see if it's black inside from burn. It could be a lemon. I've had that happen. If that's not it then I'd need to be there for this head scratcher 🤔.
I have a really old stove top, in drop in, way older than this one and mine is doing the same thing, I don't really want to replace it, is it possible to find new switches for a really old range like mine?
