    Thank you so much for posting this video! Two of our burners started doing this and our range is only 4 years old. I did as you did and replaced all 4, which after removing definitely all show signs of burning. The installation was super easy, I had to order the parts online and wait for them, but it was less than a week. Without this video I probably wouldn't have felt comfortable trying to investigate the issue and fix it myself as I have no electrical experience, but it's literally unplug and plug back in. I appreciate experts such as yourself helping us without experience to do these easy repairs to save money.

      @@lakeshvac You are exactly right. Another aspect... Appliances, especially worn, renter abused, appliances, are like old cars. Once one thing breaks, it won't be long before it is something else.
      -
      I haul off lots of rental used appliances. The better ones... I Reburb them, and then sell them cheap to strangers, "as is," on Craigslist. My warranty is good until their, or my tail lights disappear around a corner.

      @@Tom-Travels this is exactly why people are losing faith in repair techs from almost every field. Dishonesty and money grubbing combined with unskilled "technicians", most of which I would be hard pressed to consider hiring as a helper, have brought this industry down. Maybe not in profits, as we can see from the above comments, but in reputation, in integrity.
      I grew up in an appliance repair shop and if you know what you're doing, not just a part swapping monkey, you can make repairs that last and head off problems before they start.
      Not to mention the fact that a great many people can't afford to chuck their appliances out like old paper towels and they need the repairs to keep their household moving.
      Good diagnostics, solid, mindful repairs and honesty with the consumer and you can warranty the repaired equipment for 6 months or even a year and never have to worry about a claim. You trade an amount of heartless profits for reliability but you don't cheat anyone and you get the job done.

      May be a bad outlet. I would disconnect them in your bedroom one at a time. Disconnect one outlet then turn the breaker on. If it trips, hook it back up and move to the next one. If you disconnect one and the breaker doesn't trip, that's the bad outlet. It's time consuming but that's how I would approach it.

    • @throttlebottle5906
      @throttlebottle5906 4 года назад

      it's possibly shared with ceiling light fixtures in other rooms, maybe outlets in hall/foyer, closet light. maybe even an outdoor outlet/gfci off that.
      so pretty much check the whole house indoor and out for non-working outlets/lights, including garage/outdoor wall lights, post lights.
      we wired that way in the mid 90's as did most, that way if the outlets tripped a breaker the light would stay on and vice versa, table lamps would stay on, also the hallway lights were shared off total other area. the whole idea being one tripped circuit didn't knock out all/much of the lighting at once.

    I can't even imagine working for a property where we just have 4 infinite switches lying around. As of right now, I got 3 salvage apartments going. One of them I'm supposed to be moving into! Cheap ass company. With our GE stoves we get the oven light on even when it's not in use. There's a purple wire that runs in series through all 4 switches. What causes the problem in a bad terminal on just one of the switches. 9 times out of 10 it's the front big burner. Especially if the tenants are Indian. Indians just love to burn up their appliances. Almost as much as landscapers just love to weed whack thermostat wires. Indians take appliance burning to the next level skid nasty. But that's okay. They keep me employed and they usually start businesses. Not burden tax payers. So they can burn away.

      We have the same issue with our residence using high heat. When we replace these switches with 1560w when they burn up instead of the 2400w ones. That’s the color of Dot thing he was talking about

      @@demarestdouglas Nice. I'm going to have to look into that for all my Indian residents. Thanks for the input.

      that's because they cook meals every day, usually multiple meals, instead of fast food junk.
