Once again, I'm impressed that you can teach this stitch so efficiently and in under two minutes.....gotta tell ya, there are some gabby video makers out there. Thank you, too for your efforts.
*All* of the other videos I watched that teach Knit Below showed you how to do it after a row of rib stitching, which is a different technique. I needed to do a row with Knit Below stitches after a row of all knit, and this was the only one that helped me out! Thank you so much.
Thanks so much for this video! I appreciate that you used contrasting colors and that you didn't race through it like a maniac, like we see in other teaching videos.
Thank-you, I, found this to be the best visual explanation for K1B, not a complicated stitch just counterintuitive to let stitches drop 😊. know it makes more sense.
Thanks so much for this! I felt like I was knitting this stitch incorrectly but couldn't find any info on whether or not you pick up the stitch on the needle. As others have said, thank you for mentioning that and showing the back of your work in the video! Will definitely check out more of your videos. :)
Brilliant video. I've been searching for ages, and no one else has said what to do with the stitch above. I tried dropping it and that didn't work. But yeah, this shows so nicely without having to sit through loads of waffle. Can't wait to finish my project now! Cheers 😊
Thank you so much for this. I think you are only person that actually shows how to do k1b into purl stitches. I’ve been looking everywhere since I frogged my tank top. I started to think that my pattern was wrong…I will get this top done before Summer is over! 😂
This Was excellent!! I needed to see a knit one below the purl stitch, which this showed because knit one below a knit stitch and knit one below a purl stitch does look different. Thanks
I appreciate your teaching style. I've been knitting for a couple decades but have not been able to master some of the more difficult stitches. With your help, I will be able to take on new techniques without frustration. I have subscribed and hope to visit again soon!
Finally found tutorials that are clear enough for me to follow thank you!! I have a request if you are up to it.. A tutorial on reading paterns would be great! It still seems like chinese to me..
The explaining of k1b in the patterns I've seen has said to slip the top stitch off, NOT knit it together with the stitch below. Other videos have also shown this method. It's seems like maybe this is a variation of k1b or a slightly different stitch?
She is knitting one below into a PURL stitch. But in any case, you would knit into the hole just below the stitch on the needle and then slip the whole thing off the left needle. You wouldn't slip the stitch already on the left needle off separately because then you'd have an EXTRA stitch.
Thank you very much for such a clear video! I'm following a pattern that requires that I slide my work and K1B where I've previously done that. How would I K1B when it's a stockinette stitch? Thanks in advance!
Hi, I'm a beginner knitter. I was wondering on most videos teaching the K1B they say to drop the loop on the needle. Yet, on your video you say to knit the 1 below and to still catch the loop on the needle. Is this personal preference or is this a different look.
My current pattern has “b indicates that you work into the back of the loop” and I had no idea how to tell that apart from “tbl”. Thanks for this - I can only assume it’s what they mean 😆
Your videos are very helpful and you move at a great pace. What does k1 all by itself mean in knitting instructions? Is it just knit one stitch? I ask because I'm knitting gloves and the instructions are like k1 pl (or sl m) then m1r
It's very complicated when you have to do this with a new color. Maybe the way you do it is the thing i was searching for. However the pattern say k1, m1, k4. In your video it would be like k1,m1 together ? And m1 must be done with the stich below (as in the video) but in the back of the stich. Is it something different ? (Like the way the needle is put in the stich).
Help me please. I know how to do the k1b stitch but my problem is starting the project. I can't figure that out. I'm doing a fisherman rib hat. It calls for purl row after casting on. I'm using a provisional cast on because I'm making a double cuff. Can u help me.
Cool. To clarify, you are showing a knit one below into a PURL stitch. You should add a quick few seconds to show a k1b into a knit stitch as well. (although people don't seem to be bothered or notice, so idk) :)
Is there some other technique that resembles this but without knitting the main stitch (the one on the needle)? Because I tried this and had to tink, it seemed to result in extra stitches. I just googled "Knit below"
thank you for using a light yarn, this is very helpful...one question though, is kb1 is same thing? I am looking at a free cable scarf pattern from Patons & it's says (kb1 - knit into back loop of next stitch)...is it the same thing? thank you kindly
+DJ Bunny Sitter Hello! No, the "B" in this example is for Below, not back. If you search for "knit into back loop" there are some great videos that should help! Good luck!!!
Sometimes we just have to frog it and start again a couple rows below. Backtracking is crummy, but it's often better than moving forward with weird wonky mistakes visible. Good luck!!
Studio Knit Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I have started the project one more time in hopes that the third time is a charm. Time will tell.
No matter how many times I look at it, it looks like the first example is different than the second one. The first goes through the stitch on the needle and the second doesn't.
I saw another tutorial where it looked like the person only picked up the stitch below.. Welp, now I need to start all over, again :( Thanks for the clear tutorial though!!
I appreciate your videos, especially did so when I was a beginning knitter. With every respect, no one else on youtube or anywhere else that I've been able to find shows a knit one below this way. Others show inserting the needle into the stitch below but NOT including the stitch on the needle simultaneously. Perhaps your demo will mislead new knitters.
Jayadancer1 same, I was confused why this one was different from all the other videos demonstrating k1b. I think the others show the previous row was a knit as well, whereas this video looks like the previous row was a purl. I could be wrong, I was hoping for clarification.
Yes, I agree. Something appears to be amiss with this tutorial in the way that the instructions appear to include knitting the stitch already on the needle instead of just the stitch below the needle.

Glad it was helpful!
Omg I didn't know it was that easy! I've shyed away from patterns that called for a k1b but I won't any longer! Thank you so much!
Thanks for using two different yarn colors- It's a big help. I don't know why everyone doesn't do this. Thanks
thanks, i am no longer intimidated by K1B. your video was so simple and clear. much better than the 6 other videos i watched.
That's so great to hear, Xaja. Thank you for letting me know my video was so helpful. Happy K1B!!
Very helpful video. Using 2 colours of yarn really helped me see what to do.
Glad it helped 💖
Thanks so much for this video! I appreciate that you used contrasting colors and that you didn't race through it like a maniac, like we see in other teaching videos.
+Kerry Egan Ha, Happy it was helpful to you.
Very clear! I was completely confused by another video.
I have been trying to figure out this stitch for years. Your video makes it absolutely clear!
I’ve been knitting for ages, but only just came upon my first k1b pattern! Thanks for making such an easy to follow tutorial!
You are so welcome!
Thank-you, I, found this to be the best visual explanation for K1B, not a complicated stitch just counterintuitive to let stitches drop 😊. know it makes more sense.
Wonderful, Jennifer. I'm so happy to know my video was helpful and easy for you to understand! Happy Knitting to you!
Thank you! I, believe us knitters are all kindred spirits.
So beautifully clear, to the point, and short!!!!
woah, thank you!!
the terms in the instructions I'm following are easier now, thanks!
This is such a great video. I was feeling discouraged because I didn’t understand k1b, but I feel much better now. Thank you!!
Thanks so much for this! I felt like I was knitting this stitch incorrectly but couldn't find any info on whether or not you pick up the stitch on the needle. As others have said, thank you for mentioning that and showing the back of your work in the video! Will definitely check out more of your videos. :)

Thank you, I have so many more knitting questions to be answered and shown on how to make certain stitches in a pattern.
I’ve been trying to figure this out for a couple of weeks now & there haven’t been clear tutorials for K1b. Thank You so very much! 😊
Thanks. It really helps that you had light colored yarn - so easy to see.
This is a great video - instructions and demo absolutely clear. Perfect for a UK knitter trying to make out a US pattern. Thank you.
Hi, Christine! Wonderful!!!
Thank you so much for this. I think you are only person that actually shows how to do k1b into purl stitches. I’ve been looking everywhere since I frogged my tank top. I started to think that my pattern was wrong…I will get this top done before Summer is over! 😂
Glad it was helpful!
amazingly clear! The other video i watched was like 5 minutes long and i still didn't understand! thank you!
Glad it helped, Elizabeth!
This Was excellent!! I needed to see a knit one below the purl stitch, which this showed because knit one below a knit stitch and knit one below a purl stitch does look different. Thanks
Thanks for showing really clearly what stitches the needles are going through. Really great video!
Happy to hear it's helpful to you, +ella41000 !!
Thank you. This really helps me.
Wow that looks so easy!
Thank you, you explain it so well and simple
Thank you so much for this! Most useful video on k1below. ☺️
Thank you for the excellent tutorial. Very clear for a beginner knitter!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you. Great Instructions. Using 2 colours to explain it was very helpful. ❤
A great help as I am attempting several techniques I have not knitted before.Thank you👍🏼
I appreciate your teaching style. I've been knitting for a couple decades but have not been able to master some of the more difficult stitches. With your help, I will be able to take on new techniques without frustration. I have subscribed and hope to visit again soon!
Wonderful, congratulations!
Wow, I always thought K1b would be complicated. I can't wait to try this out!
Yay! Go for it!!
Thank you for this clear video! A big help!! 👍🏻
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I have been trying to figure this out for the last day and a half! This helped me so much.
+ThePricklyCrafter Ha. Yay!!! 💞
Wow. So clear and helpful.
Thank you 😊.
Great video I watched like 5 and then yours and I got it within seconds!
Way more correct and precise than others shown
So happy it's helpful to you.
Finally found tutorials that are clear enough for me to follow thank you!! I have a request if you are up to it.. A tutorial on reading paterns would be great! It still seems like chinese to me..
Yay, so glad you found my channel, Jade!! Great idea! I will put that in my list for sure! Thanks and happy knitting!
This was so useful - thanks!
Simple, concise thanks
Thank you! You made it look so easy!
Thank you very much for explaining that so clearly
Such a clear explanation thank you.
Nice clear tutorial. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
I got it!! Thank you for making it so clear!!
Thank you I see the way u did it, was way better

So nice of you
Thanks I understand now.
Very helpful, thank you so much.
Thank you. Needed help with this stitch.
Glad I could help!
Great tutorial - thank you!!
Thank you very much for such a clear video! I'm following a pattern that requires that I slide my work and K1B where I've previously done that. How would I K1B when it's a stockinette stitch? Thanks in advance!
Very clear. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Great tutorial thanks ☺
Just saw this on a pattern. Thanks
Thank you. Great info

Thanks for this video lesson. I'll try it hehe Greetings from Brazil.
My current pattern has “b indicates that you work into the back of the loop” and I had no idea how to tell that apart from “tbl”. Thanks for this - I can only assume it’s what they mean 😆
Great 🌟🌟
Thanks 4 the tutorial 😃😃😃😃😄😄😄😄😀😀😀😀😛😛
You're so welcome. Thanks for watching, Kelly!
That wAs explained so well. What if you have to knit 2 tog when you get to the K1b stitch? How is it done?
Your videos are very helpful and you move at a great pace. What does k1 all by itself mean in knitting instructions? Is it just knit one stitch? I ask because I'm knitting gloves and the instructions are like k1 pl (or sl m) then m1r
K1 is just knit one stich.
You are awesome!
Ha, thanks!
Great tutorial, thank you! I love that your steps are so clear.
Out of curiosity, what's the music you used for this video? I loved it!
so it's a vertical knit 2 together
Do you have a video showing the reverse row when you need to knit the loop you dropped? k1L
It's very complicated when you have to do this with a new color. Maybe the way you do it is the thing i was searching for. However the pattern say k1, m1, k4.

Basically making a tuck stitch?
Is there some other technique that resembles this but without knitting the main stitch (the one on the needle)? Because I tried this and had to tink, it seemed to result in extra stitches. I just googled "Knit below"
hi, how do you knit one into the stitch from 4 rows below? thanks
thank you for using a light yarn, this is very helpful...one question though, is kb1 is same thing? I am looking at a free cable scarf pattern from Patons & it's says (kb1 - knit into back loop of next stitch)...is it the same thing? thank you kindly
+DJ Bunny Sitter Hello! No, the "B" in this example is for Below, not back. If you search for "knit into back loop" there are some great videos that should help! Good luck!!!
Hi, I'm new to needle knitting past the basic K&P, but why would we K1B?
How do you correct a mistake when you drop a couple of stitches when you have Knit 1 or Purl 1 Below? Help.....
Is this the same as Barring or is that a complety different thing?
Hmmmm.... I'm not familiar with barring, so I'm not sure!!
No matter how many times I look at it, it looks like the first example is different than the second one. The first goes through the stitch on the needle and the second doesn't.
Is this the stitch as K1SB ?
Yes, indeed it is!!
I saw another tutorial where it looked like the person only picked up the stitch below.. Welp, now I need to start all over, again :( Thanks for the clear tutorial though!!
Pafista
I would think that this video is the correct one because if you don't knit through the stitch on the needle your end up dropping a stitch.
I appreciate your videos, especially did so when I was a beginning knitter. With every respect, no one else on youtube or anywhere else that I've been able to find shows a knit one below this way. I’m confused. Your first stitch looks different from your second stitch.
This is incorrect. All the other videos on here do not say to knit the stitch on the needle! Confused
Yes, I agree. Something appears to be amiss with this tutorial in the way that the instructions appear to include knitting the stitch already on the needle instead of just the stitch below the needle.
Wow I wish I’d watched this earlier because I’ve been doing this wrong on a top I’m nearly halfway through knitting, fml
Thank you. Great Instructions. Using 2 colours to explain it was very helpful. ❤
Glad it was helpful!
So helpful, thank you.
Happy to hear it, +Gayle S!
