we owned a wharram tiki 38 for 10 years it was a great boat. it is great to see people sailing with the basics and not all the excess. washer and dryer a dishwasher a huge water maker. nice to see one making do with less.great boat. i bet your always the only two masted cat in the anchorage.
Wow, That is very impressive. So good to see two people that know you don't need a lot to be happy and live the dream. I wish you good luck on your adventure and stay safe!
Say Hello to Mark from Wilding sailing he is in the Netherlands with a floating but unfinished Wharram Pahi 42’ he would appreciate your encouragement and experience.
Would you consider using a Wharram wing sail rig? Mark has a single conventional Al. mast and I think a ketch rig with Wharram sails would be more suitable and the boat handle better. Clive Stainless steel Womble .. borrowed phone 😂 grey cold Uk
Hi Mark! De you have a RUclips Channel or other platforms that we can see your wharram? We would love to see it!!! Continue your work it will pay off for sure!!! :)
@@vanessabryan786 I too would like to hear the answer. I’d love to see a comparison between conventional sails, and the biplane junk rigs on wharrams especially. That junk righ is just so pretty, but if they can only get 6kt out of it, that’s quite the drawback.
@@sailing_vahi9912 This is Mark's channel and his latest video. Wilding Sailing ruclips.net/video/NgJLjZfMs20/видео.html He just bought a boat that has been sitting unfinished for a number of years.
Bonjour! Hey Joanie and Hugues! Just wanted to say how cool your boat is! What a great plan to sail and surf and live on the water! I mostly just watch RUclips so I hope you will put more video up here. I read that you are building a new boat and I hope you will have many good times sailing her together! Bon chanc and bon voyage! ❤
Canadian eh,,!!!! Great job so far, I love a wharram cat...you two seem very happy and healthy a joy to watch... Kind of reminds me of Billy and Sierra. Best of luck sail safe... Peace and love 😊
Great tour. thank you. Keep making these videos for your fans. You two are well on your way already with 983 subscribers with only 3 videos. What a beautiful design catamaran that you two are comfortable with and living the dream.
Thanks for your tour, I have only just found your channel, please continue if you can, with your videos. A Wharram is what I would love to buy one day. Seeing others experiences is a great insight and appreciated. Safe travels.
Great video, great boat too. I only hear good things about Wharrams. Your use of the English language is very good. Perfect explanation of how the rigging works. Many thanks 🙏
What an interesting boat. I'm not familiar with that design. I love to see how young people make the basic boats like yours work. I hope you keep up with RUclips.
Really amazing job. so much smart features... i didn't get all about how you reef the sails. But i guess we might see it in next videos. Looking forward. Great editing skills too. enjoy.
I’m so glad to find you and look forward to following a cruising Wharram, you are living the dream and I love your philosophy of simplicity. Great video quality too!
Glad to see you again on RUclips. I love what you have done with the Wharram boat since I first saw your vlog awhile back. I hope you continue to post on RUclips as I do not use the other media since I was hacked twce a couple of years ago.
I was looking at a junk rigged cutter. Having stay sails might help going up wind. But I love the ease of handling the junk sails. Please add more videos.
Very nice video! I hope you continue with RUclips. It is my favorite platform for following sailors' adventures. I look forward to your next one! Good luck!
Thank you for the tour of your Wharram boat. Love the boat and love the Wharram style of boat building which basically came from the Polynesians and James Wharram continued the progress on building the boats and making them very popular and safe in the boating world. There are even professional boat builders who are building Wharram Boats. I hope that you continue to make the videos for RUclips as I don’t use Instagram as my Instagram account and my FaceBook was hacked on two different occasions after using Instagram and I had a very secure password. Take care, and please keep the videos coming as you are doing a great job.
Hey you two. I just came across the title of your video and decided to view it with my wife as there is also a Wharram in our anchorage and we were interested to see what it was like. Unbelievably, it is the same boat! Maybe we will run in to you two at Captain's Table on a Thursday or in town somewhere and we can share our stories.
Thanks for the tour as I have recently purchased a Pahi 26 and she is bare bones at the moment hoping to cruise soon , love the gabled roof on the hulls , that small increase gives tremendous amount of room !
brilliant wee video guys! thanks for sharing your amazing and well looked after girl, Vahi. Looks like you're on an amazing journey, and wishing you the very best... I'll keep looking out for your vids 😉
Just subscribed to you. Very nice. You did a great job. On that water maker. Carry lots of spares. Maybe they have improved them but they use to give a lot of trouble.
Great boat. Perfect for your use. I would like to put a similar rig on my 8.5m catamaran one day. Can you give a bit more technical detail. Masts, are they home made. What diameter and thickness? Sailcloth, what exactly is the product. Is it holding up well. I have some experience of junk sails, surprised not to see some heavy reinforcement at leach and luff. I think if you can make 6knts, your leeway should not be too bad, dagger boards not required. Building a bit of camber / shape into the sails will help. Lots of information in the Junk Rig Association. My only criticism is that huge Bimini , surely that has a very detrimental windage.
Hello. We are eagerly awaiting more videos about your boat. This topic could provide a lot of content for videos: ease of sail handling, maintenance costs, range, engine use, wood maintenance, improvement plan, etc.
Very cool , interesting and informative , thanks for ' persisting' with English . You are pretty well organised . Seems like a nice boat to travel in . Unless becalmed you get 6 kts , the auto pilot must be manna from heaven . Also nice as a long term live aboard . A 26' Wharram appeared locally , well , just one hull actually :-) Plus most of the wood needed for the other hull . Have done a fair amount of budgeting , for coastal fun , then maybe off shore later . I can build the boat to take the upgrades later . The water maker !!! That got me :-) The smallest available from Swiss company , apologies , forget is 3/6 /l / hour ? Into an holding tank where ? For washing and showers ? Solo , 5 l /day is fine , with the low battery draw . Back to the solar panels :-) 2x 80 w and one much bigger at the back . ? Decent batteries are heavy . Lots of food for thought , thanks !
Thanks for reaching out !! That look like a nice project you could get !! I think i said a few thing wrong in the video ahaha the boat often go to speed up to 14 knots even seen 16 kts once but the 6 knots is more for upwind without to much wave and 90 degree on the shoulder! The watermaker is a Katadyn powersurvivor 40e ( 6 litres / hour ) enough for 2 persons watching there consommation! Solar we have 2 x 80W on the main cabine and 1 x 210W on the back bench For battery we went lithium (to save the weight ) 2 x 110amp + 1x AGM for crank start the motor and windless !! Hoping this help a bit to understand Cheer
@@sailing_vahi9912 Cool , thanks for the clarification , happy sailing . Your speed bemuses me, have heard of similar . Sort of ironic that many large motor yachts will cruise at 6-10 kts to save fuel :-)
I would like to see a yurt on a Wharram that had a roof that did not have a steep pitch. Yurts are hurricane proof. A Lexon door in the front and aft with a clear vinyl panel near the top of the walls would help you see 360 degrees. The yurt could be large enough to enclose the main hatches that go into the hulls. Yurts are very light in weight. One day I will see this.
