On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you prefer more up close and personal dogfights consider the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battle series and experience intense WWII aerial combat over famous battlefields such as Stalingrad, Moscow, Rhineland and Normandy. Fight in and against Russian, American, German, British warbirds such as the P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, Bf-109, FW-190, Spitfire, Hurricane and rugged IL-2 Sturmovik attack plane. You can also fly legendary SPADS, Fokkers and Camels in WWI dogfights over the trenches of WWI and discover your inner Red Baron! And all of this can be experienced in jaw dropping virtual reality!

Every time I see a video like this, of the F-5 Tiger, I can’t help but wonder how much better the F-5 Tigershark might have been. I wish there was a Tigershark mod in DCS so that fantasy could be explored.
I mean, 2/3rds of the F-20 Tigershark were lost...

Both loses were attributed to G-Loc, you can't blame the aircraft for that.

I saw the marking under the cockpit before noticing the swiss markings on the wings. My thought was- "Oh, crash test dummy paint job. That seems fitting, fighting against an F-14 and all."
I don't know if it exists in DCS, but try the F-20. A fantastic plane, basically a single engine F-5 with the performance F-16.

Or an F-14 D, Hell, why not an F-23 so long as we're dreaming. A big problem is that the data for these should-have-beens is still kept under wraps to make it harder for the Ayatollas to level-up their museum pieces into modern, peer-level threats.
The closest thing to an F-20 is the JF-17

I think a matured F20 (block upgrades similar to how the F16 has been handled since the late 70's)
Would be somewhat superior as a dog fighter vs the Jeff.
Bog stock late model F-5s are no slouch for a gen 3 platform in the knife fighting department provided the pilot is a dirty fighting SOB (that offset 2 circle was brilliant) ... so adding more wing, a digital flight control system and a much bigger engine would have only payed dividends.

A-4 and F-5s, among others, were used in Aggressor Squadrons to train fighter pilots. In the right hands they're able put up a good fight against much more capable aircraft.
If i remember correctly the F-5s and A-4s used were stripped down to more closely mach MIG flight profiles, where as the one is DCS is going to be stock weight
@@rippervtol9516 Can't speak for the F-5's but the A-4's I believe also ran with non standard engine mods.
@@FallenPhoenix86 Pratt J52-P408. About 11,000lb thrust, up from 8,500 or so. Although I think most of the later models would have had this version, including the ones that briefly equipped the Blue Angels.
If I've learned one thing from these videos, it's that if I see GS online in a cessna with a pistol...I'm running for my life.

It's like that with War Thunder spotting system sometimes
So relatable, especially in dawn/dusk map. Literally had a dusk map where everyone was being spotted at like 2km. Literally was tailing a MiG-21bis at 2.7km for like 3 minutes and he was never spotted.

considering the cost difference of the 2 planes, there should be at least 2 F-5s starting the fight...
That is Russian doctrine in a nutshell. It only works if your pilots are as well trained and kept ready at that skill level. Unfortunately for Russians, they can't afford to do it, never did. They ended up getting honchos that could keep up with western pilots, but could never train their entire cadre to that level. It is why GCI was necessary, they were monitoring systems, not fighting the jet, the ground controllers controlled all weapon systems besides the gun. Until you trust pilots to train without restrictions in flight hours and tactics, Russia will always come out as target practice during real world engagements with western style forces.

This isnt a fair fight. The F-5 can out turn the F-14, it can carry 4 aim9 and also 4 30mm cannons. The F-14 can also carry good ordinance but it is still a very heavy plane compared to the F-5

Hey GS, we all know you like flying a MiG-29. So how about this for a challenge: mix it up with a Su-35, possibly two, then with 2 Su-25s (that should be much easier) and stay on the deck while You're doing that. Call it a proof of concept, I'm sure you know what I mean ;)

sure love this game but for the love of all logic, please update the free frogfoot ED/HB wtv, hard enough getting friends to play this game after looking at the DLC list prices, much less when the game "out the box" looks like "meh?", and isnt even a good sample of the game itself now. just a bit of spitshine, i dont even care if the flight model is looked at, or the fact its the lowest fidelity thing possible. just saying, make em wana play, to pay, to play, to pay some more! or something... whats the business model again? or did i nail it? i am already like... hmm dropping support for my rig... is this game worth a 2000 dollar pc to keep playing for the next year? or some 900 dollar waste of sand

GS. Please consider a video on the Ghost of Kyiv. They say he shot down six planes in a day. Maybe its not true but at this time I think the Ukrainian people need all the hope they can get. Besides, it will give you a chance to prove once again how mighty the Mig 29 can be. See if you can match his alleged accomplishments. I think you can do it.
