    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 года назад

      I thought about it but being solely front wheel drive I figured it was going to spend most of its time filling the chassis full of dirt and rocks!! I am looking forward to seeing how it drives as most of my on-road experience has been on a 4wd platform. I know it is going to be different for sure! Should find out soon I hope!!

    I see a fwd drag racing club car when I look at this. Wide and fat front tires and lawn mower wheels in the back😝. This always catches my eye when Craig at OAG takes his out! What ever you do with it Addam, I know it’ll turn out sick!😊✌🏻🍻😛

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 года назад

      Yeah, I have seen Craig's and thought about doing an off-road version of it but I kind of feel in love with the box art looks and really want to see what it will do on pavement. It may turn into a rally type car eventually, who knows! It was fun building a new chassis type and I admire all the engineering and thought that went into making a tiny car have all that adjustability for 3 different wheel bases and packing all that stuff into a small kit so we'll!! Thanks for checking in!!

    I finally got my M-05. I had to go back to your video. Yes, I agree the manual and instructions were confusing. I had to revert to your video to get things sorted. Hopefully, I can get this painted soon. Thanks for this video. It helped a lot!

    • @AddamsPlayground

      I am glad it helped out! The odd design of the manual to hop around the way it does makes it a bit confusing. One you are done it makes more sense but in the midst of building it can be a head scratcher! I have some painting to do as well! I just got the mid sized and full sized Aero Avante kits built and the bodies cut out so I need to get them painted tomorrow after work.

    Hi Addam, great video. The explanation for the opened trunk is that the motor in the rear got too hot, especial in the TTS. So it stayed open to change the air inside and cool the motor extra.

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 года назад +1

      Yeah I had no idea! I thought they have been bending the rules and using it like a spoiler! Maybe a bit of both really!! It is a cool look and one of the reasons I got drawn to it!! Thanks for checking in and providing some back story to it

    • @RCBirds
      @RCBirds 2 года назад +2

      @@AddamsPlayground Yes it's quiet interesting. The name of the car is Prinz (Prince). It was a small car but used in races it took turns with higher speeds than the competers and was famous for beating even Porsches. You can see it as the grandfather of the Audi A3. And if you don't like the Jägermeister look, even the "civil" versions had the open trunk. People don't want to buy a new car or motor just because it overheated. Back in those days cars weren't so common as today and a big investment for ordanary people.😉

    The trunk lid on the NSU is open becouse it has an air cooled engine. So the heat from the bay can exit easier. Love the vid!

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  Год назад +1

      Yes, they made the trunk deck stay propped as the motor ran very hot as it was being pushed to the limits and this was a way to get a lot more air flow over the motor. I am sure it also provided a tiny bit of downforce acting like a small spoiler on the rear as well. They were very light weight cars and am sure it did not take much to increase the down force a bit. It was mainly for the motor cooling from what I have read and heard!

    That’s pretty nifty, I didn’t know that Tamiya made a front wheel drive chassis. I like the modifications you put on, I hate plastic bearings and friction shocks. I would just use a rubber band to pull the wires in, it’s only semi-permanent and it won’t chafe the wires.

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 года назад +1

      Thanks, it was a fun build and one I had never done. They make a few front wheel drive cars but I think this is the most common chassis, at least currently. It was fun building a different chassis for a change. the rubber band idea will work I will look to see about doing something more permanent as it never fails the rubber is perfectly fine when I leave the house but breaks as soon as I get to the run spot and I won't remember to have any spares!! FWD is certainly a different driving experience and a lot of fun when you get the hang of it, just like the real thing! Most "real" cars in the UK are FWD. In fact, in our touring car racing series for "real" cars, the FWD often beat the RWD cars! Liking the format of this video, good job! Those CVA shocks are a must have for ant Tamiya. So much smoother driving. Good ideas for fixing the little slip with the scissors! I'm sure it'll be fine. All the best and take care my friend! :O)

    Addam, what type of servo did you use? Is it the regular sized servo or could you fit a low profile servo? Thanks!

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  Год назад +1

      It fits a standard servo in it. You could always run a low profile one to save a little weight. There is actually a fair amount of room for things in and on the chassis the way it is designed. Lighter is usually better for on road cars.

      Awesome! Thank you! I might run a low profile servo on my build.

      @@o46b83 The little M05 runs really nice! The trim sticker can be a bit fiddly to get on but once it is all done up it looks really nice. The rings of stickers around the tail lights.... good luck! They go one but don't want to stay on.

      Yeah this was before everyone had an across the board price increase on the Tamiya lineup. Still a good price for a great little kit. It is a ton of fun to drive!
