15 Minute Garlic Cherry Tomato Pasta

- Sauteeing garlic in olive oil until lightly golden and cooking tomatoes in that oil, until they burst, creates a flavorful and super simple sauce. The burst cherry tomato sauce goes perfectly with linguine or spaghetti. Top it with a handful of fresh basil leaves and good quality extra virgin olive oil and in about 15-20 minutes you'll have an awesome easy pasta recipe!

1 pound spaghetti
1 quart cherry tomatoes
1/2 cup packed basil leaves
10 cloves garlic
1 tsp kosher salt
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

Plus u need to add Romano grated cheese & serve with garlic bread and crushed ice with COKE😢
We tried this dish and it came out perfect!however we improvised.We could not get any basil leaves so instead we used a basil pesto and it was amazing!!!!!!

Can I use dried basil?
@@apyangrebuyas Yes, but while it is of course a matter of taste, generally use less if dried as the flavor will be more pronounced.

@@apyangrebuyas since it's such a simple and cheap recipe, i think the taste is much better with fresh basil.
I worked my way through college at a nice Italian restaurant in Seattle (late 80s). The chef made this dish but added bay scallops and used angel hair pasta - called it Capellini d’Angelo. I make it often - a great summertime pasta.

Capellini is a type of pasta that is very thin from capelli - meaning hair. Has nothing to do with this type of sauce. Also, Italian-Americans are NOT Italian.

This pasta is excellent! I'm not great at cooking and I didnt even have fresh garlic or cherry tomatoes. I chopped regular tomatoes and used pre-minced garlic I had in a jar. I was skeptical, but it came out awesome! Great recipe!

This is my midnight craving meal that I love love love to make! I use a little white wine as well to deglaze the pan a little after I cook the garlic and tomatoes with a touch of lemon zest 🍋😚👌

i always give this recipe to friends who swear up and down "i can't cook!!!!" or "i burn toast!!!" ....I tell them, "this is a pasta that is virtually impossible to screw up." it's also super fast, and RIDICULOUSLY packed with flavor. It's also healthy too. it's really the best dish to suggest to all beginners.
Quality ingredients are the key. You don't need to do anything complicated to make them taste good. This is a perfect recipe for home grown cherry tomatoes and basil.
This is one of my go-to weeknight pasta recipes before I watched the video but I learned new ways to elevate it from this, especially the leave 1/2 portion of the tomatoes uncut part to release more juice and pulp into the sauce. That's genius! Thanks for the tip.

I made this dish three or four times now, and it's so delicious. One of the most satisfying moments is throwing in the basil. The beauty of that green and red in the pan is just amazing. It looks like an edible Italian flag.

You will improve dramatically. I try to stress that learning techniques are more important than following a recipe. Maybe you like more garlic or tomatoes, or no basil, etc. Hope you enjoy it!

Ultra simplistic but really satisfying.
of all the delicious pasta dishes you present, this simple one is my favorite. i've made it time and again, with subtle variations, sometimes adding some shallot, or subbing parsley for basil. adding anchovies. throwing in some kalamata olives. it's a wonderfully versatile way to a great meal.

@@smoke3778 Ooh, I hope you try it! So, I would add the wine (about 2-3 ounces) after your tomatoes and garlic have cooked for a bit. He added pasta water, I would add it about 3 or 4 minutes before that to cook off the alcohol and let the flavor cook into the tomatoes. It also deglazes the pan which gives it a richer sauce. If you try it, I'd love to know how you like it ☺️

I have been doing basically this for quite a few years now and I can attest to this being such a simply delicious way to eat pasta. ESPECIALLY if you’re in the middle of tomato season.
