love seeing CJ's smile break through around 9:20 as he catches the buildup, and you can tell from his playing how much more comfortable he was from that point on
I'm pretty sure I commented this sentiment before, but I love adding the bassist into this format. I own a bass (to say I play bass would be stretching the truth to its limit), so these exercises really help me key into how bass works with drums to establish rhythm. Thanks for doing what you do guys!
@michaelarcher9299 Lol. They haven't been great since Comatose. There were a couple good tunes on Unleashed, Victorious, and Dominion, but nothing that competes with their 2001-2007 catalog.
@Leozinho.305 *Awake. And God no. It's 50% uninspired ballads, one ultra uninspired radio rock song (Monster) and one okay song (It's Not Me, It's You). There were only 3 good songs on the album - Hero, Awake and Alive, and Sometimes. And of those, Awake and Alive was just a worse version of what they did on Comatose. It also contained their single worst song - Should've When You Could've. At least until this year.
I'm in love with their drummer Jen Ledger haha met them briefly and shook all of their hands. Didn't want to let her's go haha I love her backing vox when they throw her into a song.
Need to get a drummer to do a TobyMac older song like from the album Momentum or Diverse City. I feel songs from those albums will be interesting to try to play.
Love the channel! Can we see a gospel drummer first time listen to a DEATH METAL band/song? Song suggestions: “Spheres of Madness” - Decapitated “Crystal Mountain” - Death “Slowly We Rot” - Obituary “Evisceration Plague” -Cannibal Corpse I feel like those are some good approachable and jammable songs for the new death metal listener! Thank you!!!
It was mentioned in the video how they were overthinking how the original was played. In light of that, please do a song from "Tool". Maybe even the song "pneuma" that Neil Portnoy did on drumeo. Would be interesting to see how a gospel drummer would take that on. 😅
I loved it def better than the original which I’m hearing for the first time as well. a student of mine years ago loved skillet and I was like ok cool. They’re Christian I guess… ha. I like the drum part with the back beat with snare on the and of two which he did on the first take I thought that was hip, coming from my groove back beat turn around funk bag. They both monsters just like all the videos you have . Really dig the channel glad drumeo given ya some props keep grooving
I like what you did at the end guys. And you're right. Don't over think this. We have Mozart And Beatles for babies and skillet is more like metal for babies. Just do what you do and it is automatically improved. Now for some Rush! Subdivisions anyone?
You guys should try a song by the band Movements. Theor drum parts are phenomenal. Songs like moonlight lines, don't give up your ghost, Seneca, would really make it fun
There are so many tracks I would love to hear a drummer with Gospel chops hear for the first time. Sadly, most of them wouldn't be popular enough for the video algorithm (e.g., Protest The Hero or Red Handed Denial). For something that would be popular enough for the almighty algorithm though? Something by one of the bigger 00s metal bands who are about to go on a massive arena-selling world tour like Bullet For My Valentine (e.g., Tears Don't Fall or Waking the Demon) or Trivium (e.g., Dying In Your Arms or In Waves)
Was gonna do Tears Don’t Fall last week with a drum and bass duo but the metronome was very iffy and could’ve easily thrown off the musicians so I changed it🤦🏾♂️
@@DrumbleCo That's entirely fair. The change in tempo mid-song (and then the change back to the original tempo), mixed with the possibility that I they may not have played to a click in the studio recording does make the metronome iffy for Tears Don't Fall.
First of all, I was moved and inspired - Liked & Subbed •- - - - -• Why do they seem disappointed after hearing the original? Were they trying to intuit the original’s precise musical arrangement on their first attempt? I like their version more..more rhythmically detailed, epic vibe..which aligns with the musical ideas they were accompanying. From my perspective that’s great, not a fail. Like..that fail-vibe didn’t register with me. Attempting to intuit and precisely replicate the accompanying D&B components of an original arrangement on the first try - that’s a very interesting exercise/challenge in its own right..but it seems like less technically and creatively interesting and fertile territory to explore. Most of the time, I’d rather watch the musicians’ spontaneous interpretation..I DID watch that - and I thought it was fantastic! It seems to me like..of course the original had some distinctly different musical ideas - the original musicians were different people in a different context, who presumably spent a significant amount of time regularly getting to know and develop their arrangement together! Fantastic stuff! ,{^_^}”
@@DrumbleConumber of the beast! Don't worry it's not actually satanic, the drummer is born again. Plus there's something fun to be discovered in the first 4 notes of the melody....
If you're going to do Christian rock/metal at least do "good" Christian rock/metal. Extol - Work of Art (from their album Burial) Living Sacrafice - Awakening (from their album Reborn) Seventh Angel - The Charmer (from their album The Torment) O.C. Supertones - Unite (from their album The Supertones Strike Back) Slick Shoes - East on Tracks (from their album Burn Out) Zao - Ember (from their album Where Blood and Fire Bring Rest)
Why do I prefer their first take though.. These guys are great. Bassist is a bit uncommunicative.. I didn't get the same chemistry others on here put out..

Let them try Nailed by theocracy......❤❤❤
Wooow, A Gospel Drummer Playing a song by a Christian Rock Band.. what a Good Match!! Cheers from Argentina!!
Rise the bass volume
I agree
I was thinking the same, or reduce the drum sound, it was much louder than the song volume
Him being a gospel drummer did the build up thing after the bridge like how they do in the worship songs😂. But damn kudos to both 🔥
Right 🤣🤣
The drummer is young and humble. He has a bright future ahead.
That last jam... Was awsome..❤❤ clean and straight forward and simple...
Yo , SKILLET been in the game for a minute legendary Christian metal Band
Immediately crushed it in one take. Wow both these dudes are beasts.
What a great drummer!!! This kid have skills! Well done bro 🤟
It was very good! Love Skillet, and I have heard this song many times already.
love seeing CJ's smile break through around 9:20 as he catches the buildup, and you can tell from his playing how much more comfortable he was from that point on
and the syncopation on the groove he played right after is better than anything on the original song lol
I'm loving the Bass and Drum combination. I like it when they put their own spin to it that is different from the original.
Turn up the volume of the bass next video!! Cheers from Argentina.

As a Drummer and bass player, concept and execution is fantastic! Keep it up gents!
SKILLET? Oh my god I haven't listened to them in like fifteen years.
Their albums honestly keep getting better and better

Yall did fantastic
Thad and varo Johnson or Matt Ramsey and Tony Taylor
Sharay Reed would be lovely too
Bassist tone is fire
Love it. Should give some of these gospel cats - Blindsoptt - nil by mouth or room to breathe
Wow..solid drummer
I enjoy most of these videos, but I love the drum & bass combo one's the best.
Agreed at the end, his first take was better to me. Obviously a bit rough, but cleaned up it would be better than the original track.
Last one with these two was my favorite bass&drum duo
Ngl they came up with better parts than the original haha
Not a high bar. Lol. Skillet lost a LOT of musicality when Lori and Ben left.
The classic Linkin Park beat on the chorus. Love it😮
The last one with these 2 was good unto me 😂
that SNARE!!! ❤❤
Need to throw a drummer an August burns red song
Better have a good drummer all I'm sayin
We want them to have fun not die!
Nice work...love this concept!

Excited about this one!
Yooooooo this was fire!!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Stellar performances.
Love their take on it!
Also continuing to request “Son et lumiere / Inertiatic ESP” by The Mars Volta for a future video.
Dominion: Day of Destiny is definitely one of there best albums imo.

See if you can get Elestepario and give him something super difficult.
That was SICK
Bro played the sole of the Js. He been clutch though
Dan Maines and Jean-Paul from Clutch.
This drummer is SALTY! 🔥
CJ first take was better to me, even better than the original 🔥🔥🔥
it's crazy but tame in comparison to other bands that i listen to lol but they are great musicians both!!
Lets Go!!
It would also be cool to put on some Papa Roach music. Hugs from Brazil
Let’s Go Tym!
Gospel drummers wouldn't take Jesus' name in vain. The dude is a drummer who plays gospel. I said what I said.
Amen!

Yo Yall should get Gave Bennett on here 👊🏿🙏🏿

Is this a popular song? My musical taste is metal first, and I've never heard this before.

This song sucks so bad. The lyrics are supposed to be about hardship but there’s no concrete imagery whatsoever. Props to these guys tho. 👏🏻
Wonder if he ever figured out the drummer is a woman? Jen Ledger sings and plays drums.
I know! One of my friends filled in for her briefly last year. She’s cold!
I think I like their version more. Then again, Skillet's been doing the same thing for 20 years so it's kinda boring to me.
panhead
Next you need to throw People of the Sun by Rage Against the Machine or Fat Bottom Girls by Queen at them.
