Hi Ward Jennekens, I haven't try the 9mm f/2.8 on a APSC-C camera so can't really comment on the image quality, esp corner image quality. But I personally like this lens more because it's super compact
@@TheRealRichardWong Direct from their website. Shipped from HK to the US in like 3 days. Super fast. Also, I got tracking and signature confirmation. Didn't even ask for it. Edit: If you are talkling about the R7, Adorama. They fill orders on a first come first served basis and I ordered early.
I plan to buy one to use with the R7 as well. Could you show me some pictures you took with her? I wish I could see how it performs with a 32 mp sensor before buying. Thanks.
@@guilhermecs4 Just a warning, this is very wide and it is kind of fussy to use. After using it for a couple months I still love it because I can keep it in my bag at all times since it weights nothing, but Canon is going to release a 22 RF-S pancake, which will be significantly easier to use and probably cheaper. Also note, the diffraction limit on the R7 is f5.2, so everything after that will start to degrade sharpness.
Great review (as always). Loawa seems to suffer a lot from sample variation based on reviews I've seen of the 9mm f/2.8. Was this lens sent to you by Loawa or did you purchase it on your own? This is a very interesting lens and I love the 15mm FoV (I used to shoot a lot of the Voigtlander 15mm Heliar). I'd love a small ultra wide like this for street shooting to compliment my 10-24mm f/4 but I'm nervous about sample variation. Thanks!
Have you tried shooting on 4k with this lens on your S5? I think this could be perfect for 4k real estate lens on the S5, been waiting for something like this for a while. Great video.
Laowa 9mm is a compact lens but this cookie is a lot smaller! However the 9mm is one stop faster. Optical wise, i THINK the 9mm is better overall , but i haven't done any side by side comparison, you can check my laowa 9mm review and do some comparison :)
Technically Laowa definitely can do it! But they already have a 10mm f/2 Zero-D which is only slightly larger but 2 stops faster, so i wonder they would actually do it or not
@@dvdowns Laowa usually seperate their APSC and m43 line up and create lens specially for each sensor size. There are some exceptions but this is the way they design their lenses usually.
@@TheRealRichardWong My fear is another. This lens look pretty wide in mount part, so I'm afraid, that it can't be mounted to ZFC. Before buying it I need proof)
Lovely image samples as always. Laowa manages to make their wide lenses so tiny, I don’t know how they do it (probably it helps that they’re all manual focus designs). Decent price, image quality looks great, size is awesome, and cookies are delicious. I agree a 28mm or 35mm equivalent would be a great next step.
I totally agree! I really love how Laowa try to make their lenses as compact as possible. There are some tradeoffs but I don't mind most of the time. Let's wait for more Laowa cookies!
Nice review as always!
Thanks for watching ! :)
For some reason, I really like this lens! Looks really cool.
Thanks for watching Mark! And it is a really cool little lens :)
Nice Pictures! and that seems to be a great lens, Thank you for a great video 🙏🏾
Thanks for watching MaddLabsTV!
Nice shots
Thanks for the visit!
Great video again Richard! Looks like a nice lens. How would you rate it compared to the Laowa 9mm f2.8?

I already got the cookie for RF. If they made another in 20mm I would buy it instantly. I love this lens. My R7 fits in my pocket, it's crazy.
Already?? Where did you buy it from? That was quick

It was an early pre-production sample sent to me by Laowa. From memory it was so early it didn't even have proper packaging

No, i didn't. Mainly because the sample i received was for Fujfilm X mount so i can't test it out with the S5
how does it compare to the 9mm 2.8 which is not much more expensive?

can i use this lens with the Nikon (APS-C) series thanks for the review
Yes you can if you referring to the Nikon Z camera! Just remember to buy the z mount version
@@TheRealRichardWong ok thank you
This would be a nice compact option for mft if it was available.

@@TheRealRichardWong Good to know, I was also wondering why it isn't made for M4/3.

Nice lens for vlogging on the new Nikon Z30. Thanks
Oh I'm reviewing the Z30 right now!! Review probably out in a week or so
@@TheRealRichardWong nice
Do you know, does this lens physically fit to Nikon ZFC?
Yes if you buy the z mount version!

It can be mounted. Laowa created the lens for z mount and I saw a photo of it mounted on zfc
