Honestly Rob, did a lot of research on cold air intakes, elavated air intakes (snorkels), and different exhaust systems all for tacomas (mine is a 2nd Gen V6 4.0L), and I gotta say it’s gonna be a long and useless search unless you’re looking for either permanent modifications with the snorkel, long term damage and constant maintenance with the “cold” air intake, and an exhaust system that makes your truck sound like either a pond boat or a lawnmower that follows up with a lot less and improper exhaust displacement, at this point I’d just settle with a resonator either as an exhaust tip or a resonated muffler replacement that doesn’t restrict exhaust exiting, I personally bought what I can recall as a B&X resonated exhaust tip, it gave me a bit of deep “growl” you’re talking about but didn’t necessarily make it more loud or noisy, but definitely could pick up the growl through the exhaust from the engine, hope this helps

It is pretty low profile, very throaty, very minimal drone unless you get on the throttle
I put a Flowmaster glasspack on my 2020 TRD off road. I think it sounds good and I don't have any drone although I do admit some might not like it. I also just have the single but thinking of going with duals out the back like what you plan on doing. And for those thinking that you can make your Tacoma sound like a Mustang GT forget it. Like Rob said there is no duplicating the sweetest sound your ears will ever hear coming from a GT blowing past you
Flowmaster is very popular, Gibson is also reasonable on both sound and price.

Nothing wrong with that.
I look for exhaust that is 409 stainless steel so it doesn't rust makes it a little pricier though and then I go an d find sound clip videos of each exhaust on the internet. Sometimes I'm lucky and all clips are together on one video so it makes the decision easier to make as long a there 409. I've had 3 tacomas. One i had a gibson that was and 03 one I had a shop do it that was a 96 and banks on a 2013.
I just did the MBRP stainless steel dual exhaust.....Though It will never sound as good as a v8 it really opened it up....Yeah it does drone a little but I just turn up the music lol....I looked for a rear exit exhaust first but no luck......I ran into a stock Tacoma at a red light and we both floored it and I seemed to pull away from him pretty easy even with 285/65/18's.....I was Impressed!

I hope you find what you're looking for! Honestly, you may not find it unless you go custom high end products. My tacoma came with factory TRD EXHAUST and I am happy with that over stock. But, I know that's not what you want. Lol. I can't wait to see and hear your choice!

I have a borla exhaust no drone you only hear it when your accelerating very aggresvive, also have the afe takeda momentum cold air intake love it deep throaty sound when you want it quiet when you dont

You would have to have it built. But giving it's a v6. A bolt on Big Daddy glass pack, I'm thanking maybe a 20 or 22 inch muffler. If they still make them.
My answer is always the same, go with a top tier manufacturer, don’t settle for less. IMO That’s Corsa or Borla, cheaping out and saving $100 will only leave you with drone. Speaking of the Mustang, I’m pretty sure Fords racing exhaust is made by Borla. At least it used to be.

If you want a rear exit dual exhaust for the Tacoma, sounds like you’ll need to get a custom exhaust fabricated for it.

I hope you find an exhaust that hits that spot for you. I can’t offer any suggestions but looking forward to the future video. I like the sound of a nice smooth, throaty exhaust. How does the Ram sound, they usually sound pretty good.

I agree. The black widow, sounds pretty good. Just do a RUclips search for Tacoma exhaust. You should be able to find sounds clips of just about any manufacturer

Like they say it takes all kinds. Some like em throaty I like the exhaust note on son’s Tesla the best. So I try for quieter. It could be worse you could be playing with a 4 cylinder those tend to sound like pissed off weed-wackers. Good luck in your search for the perfect note.

No really a long way from it. I did swap exhaust with son on my Tacoma, he wanted the TRD exhaust I didn’t. Easy swap.

Planning to install a new flow master system on mine. Luckily I can use the Toyota black exhaust tips instead of the flow master ones.

@@RobMotive scratch the borla, thought they had a dual exhaust option. But you can never go wrong with flow master. I used to run dual FMs on my old GT 5.0 and they were just beastly.
Put the flowmaster American thunder 817719 part number . Not to bad on startup , quiets down , good on highway , louder on hills but not to much drone . My boss noticed the other week he liked the sound and he is a big muscle car enthusiast

Rob... I would look into MagnaFlow. I had a 2000 Toyota Tundra SR5 Access Cab with 4.7L engine. I was told that the stock muffler Toyota had put on them were made by MagnaFlow for Toyota. I liked it because it was pretty quite, until you punched into the throttle and then it would sound off. And you knew you had a V-8 engine. I hate the sound of most of these custom exhausts you hear on the little cars. They sound like a darn chain saw. I just checked Magnaflows website, and they used to have sound clips for the differant mufflers but I guess they don't any more. I checked for my 2018 Tacoma but tyhey only listed two for it. One was with a 3" cat-back single and one with a 2.5" Overland single. Unless you go with actual custom build your own dual exhaust.
There aren’t many dual exhausts out there. I may have found one though 🤔
