Skyrim Battles - Giant Frostbite Spider vs. Frost Troll, Chaurus Reaper, Falmer, and more

- I've been wanting to feature a Frostbite Spider in my videos for a pretty long time. There are many versions in the game, and in this episode, we have the strongest kind that exists in vanilla.
The first round against the Frost Troll is remarkable: It was not poison that killed the troll, but the direct melee hit. I have seen same-frame hits before, including very rare cases of one of the two opponents dying (without damage over time), but not both of them. If you watch frame by frame, you can see that the troll actually hit the spider one frame earlier, but he still took the hit from the (already dead) spider in the next frame.
Merilar has no level cap. I put her at 80 because it's a relatively high level, but not over the top. She usually beat the spider, but also lost several times, which is a lot more balanced than putting her at level 17, matching the spider.
In the round against the falmer, the spider survived with 5.44 HP. They killed each other several times during my recordings. Overall, the spider did a little bit better.
Side note: In this cave, only the regular version of the Giant Frostbite Spider (level 14) can naturally spawn, not the snowy version (level 17) used in this video. I chose this location anyway because I needed a spider lair and it's pretty good for small battles, and it's one of the few that allow for cutscenes with the spider coming down from the ceiling.

A rather fun battle, the spider is equal in strength with the troll o.o
However, the four of them almost brought the lurker down, that amazes me.
What's funny is that the ice creatures are stronger than those of the forests, I can't imagine if they were demon spiders.

I wonder why merilar uses the dagger 🤔 i remember in game she used to back away and spam spiders with both hands!
The distance probably matters, as with many spellswords 🤔

@@callumtorrance9180 I'm not sure. Changing the combat AI usually means changing the combat style. If that doesn't help, there's little we can do 🤷
If you gave the Spider some distance, it could have used either the poison spit or the running power atk (which for some reason applies poison 2 times) for it to stand a better chance.
The cave is too small for that, but I didn't know the poison works like that. I wonder why 🤔
Wish there were a high tier spider boss in Skyrim.

How do you get them to fight?
If they don't already do by default, you can select them with the console and raise their aggression with the command "setav aggression 3" 😄
