Skyrim Battles - Dustman's Cairn vs. Ahzidal, Thoron, Karstaag, and more

- I'm currently experimenting with some new formats. A few weeks ago, I have had a bunch of enemies assault Whiterun. This time, Dustman's Cairn gets raided! It's one of the best Nordic tombs for this format, with lots of draugr and a nice, open room for combat.
A few notes about this: Most players visit Dustman's Cairn at a low level, which results in rather weak draugr. But things get a bit different at high levels, as many draugr can spawn as Deathlords. This is not a mod; it's what happens if you first visit the area when your level is already very high.
Even though Dustman's Cairn is relatively good for this kind of format, scripted battles are still a whole lot more difficult to work with than my usual simplistic fights. This includes issues such as the intruders attacking the draugr before they leave their sarcophagi, or the draugr trying to escape through the entry door (which they can open even if it's locked with a key required).
I was not expecting so many Deathlords to spawn here. They can overwhelm almost any NPC with ease. Initially, I've wanted to see Karstaag against them but decided not to use him because I thought he would be overkill. After recording the first few rounds, it turned out that Karstaag was exactly the hero we needed!
Please also note that those level 30 Deathlords are not comparable to level 45 Death Overlords, who look the same but are much superior in terms of damage, health, and shouts.
There's a total of 18 draugr in the room. In this case, we have:
2 Draugr (level 1)
2 Restless Draugr (level 6)
1 Hulking Draugr (level 26)
13 Draugr Deathlords (level 30)
This episode is not to be confused with another similar video I have made before, where I spawned individually-selected draugr and Dragon Priests in the same room based on a timer. As opposed to that, all the draugr in this video are naturally spawned by the game.

You just sit there, waiting for Karstaag to stomp again so he can regenerate. He makes it so exciting, allowing the Deathlords to get him to low HP only for him to go SIKE and blizzard them all away.
It's one of the most fun setups to watch! 😂
After that second stomp, I knew Karstagg was gonna win. Such a ridiculously overpowered character 😂
The stomps are always the highlights! 😂
@@lSlendermaster Yeah I never get bored of seeing him send his opponents flying with his stomps lol. I do think the last one was overkill though.

I like how Thoron held his own against the various Draugrs, until he got overwhelmed by the sheer numbers. Also i see that you've started using werewolves more often like you said!
Me too, it was a really cool fight! And yes, I'm trying! 😎 There will be a werebear episode in a while too!
@@lSlendermasterWerebears are probably my favorite generic enemy because of how broken they are. They're incredibly strong, but their character mesh often bugs out when they transform, which makes them stuck. The fact that they still keep their generic "MaleNord" voicelines, even while transformed, is just the icing on the cake.

I have a werebear episode scheduled for the future which turned out pretty well. It includes a lot of ragdoll 😆
Karstaag is the MVP!!! And right after him is the ebony warrior !

Hopefully Bethesda improve Karstagg’s lore in the next game because he’s way too powerful to just be a minor boss.

@@H.K.5 he was actually a character in the blood moon DLC for morrowind. I view him and Ebony Warrior like optional super bosses like ruby and emerald WEAPON in FF7

Karstagg almost lost. I am surprised how fast, strong, and durable he is. He is called a boss for a reason.
He's definitely one of my favorite bosses in the game, especially against lots of NPCs! 😎
I wouldn’t say he’s fast, he’s probably the slowest boss in the game plus his attacks are easy to dodge. Only problem is he can hurt you without even touching you plus that stomp of his can send you flying even if you aren’t that close to him.
Awesome video! It's crazy how Karstaag is the only one in the entire video that managed to kill them all, although they got him on the brink of death, he didn't stomp that often like he usually does, his stomp ability is so broken I'm kinda glad he didn't stomp as much, made it more of a fair fight lol.
I'm glad you liked it! Yes, I love Karstaag's stomps, but it's not cool if he spams it. 😅 He was sooo close to bleedout mode several times!
@@lSlendermaster After I saw that video on karstaag vs the EW in sovnguared and karstaag was treating the ebony warrior like a toy cause he stomped so often and it kind of made the battle unfair because the Ebony Warrior couldn't do anything, he kept getting thrown through the air and spent most of the fight getting back up and healing. I wish the EW was immune to stagger, it would give him a better chance against karstaag.
@@dragonmagic9872 I get what you mean, yeah. What makes it worse is that Karstaag has a highly increased chance to use power attacks if his target is currently blocking, which is the Ebony Warrior's normal behavior when fighting melee opponents. 😂
Karstaag vs. The Ebony Warrior is unbalanced because Karstaag has several advantages in a direct comparison, but the Ebony Warrior does very well in other situations, especially against ranged fighters. Overall, Karstaag is still better, but he struggles with strong physical and fire damage more than the Ebony Warrior does.
i think a fight at arcwind point would be pretty cool too tho maybe it is too big of an arena considering the tower as well

I have done that, but it's so difficult that almost no NPC in the entire game has a chance of surviving 😅

In any case, I remember one day that I did that with the companions, but I wasn't in levels 50 or more before ^^'
I sometimes leave some saves to do battles on certain locations that could be cool, like the Haknir quest for example ^^

Shearpoint would be a good battle venue, seeing who can clear Krosis and a leveled dragon
I like Krosis, but I almost never use him because of his super low damage output. Shearpoint would also be very troublesome for good recordings, so I don't know if I'll ever try that 😅
The moment it was all Draugr Deathlords, it was over. Not even cringe Creation Club content stood a chance. That "roh dah!" spam was just to flex.
I have rarely heard so many "ro dah!"s after the opponent has already died! 😂

By showing this clip, you just triggered my trauma which i just got yesterday. My lv 27 Imperial with no magic at all (i used mods) on legendary diff and survival mode managed to win this encounter after 40 mins and dozens of dying. Farkas was useless as hell.
Yeah, that sounds like an awful experience, oof. 😅 But hey, at least you did it eventually! 😎

I remember this quest for something so early in the companions questline this was difficult luckily since I was lower level they were not death lords but still one made me drop my sword and I never found it again
The Disarm shout is funny and annoying at the same time. 😂 I once fought Curalmil and he made me drop my enchanted war axe, and I had to kill him with weak spells until I could search for my weapon 😆
@lSlendermaster for Curalmil, level past 50 and he becomes a dragon priest

@@keifujitora6587 Yup, I was only around level 32 back then, and he spawned as a level 34 Death Overlord. He could kill me with a single power attack, so I had to dodge both his melee strikes and his shouts 😂

Most likely not, unless they stomped non-stop. 😂
Yeah, he would probably die from stunlock, similarly to how Ahzidal had a hard time casting his spells

I wonder how well some high level Vigilants of Stendar would have faired. Wards block shouts, after all. Hell, or Isran with his warhammer and Aura of Stendarr.
@@AvengerAtIlipa It would need a huge amount of Vigilants to stand a chance here, really. Isran would die in no time too. 😅 Even Ahzidal with his flame cloak and fire stream spell which hits multiple draugr in a row did much worse than I expected. The power of large numbers is scary!
SKYRIM BATTLES NEVER GET BORING🤩🤩🤩 KEEP MAKING THEM, and you choose great locations,also dont use those cringe mods or creation club

Thank you! 😁 I have used modded creatures before and will do more in the future. As for gameplay mods, I like to keep things vanilla for now to have accurate comparisons 😄
Would Charstaag done much better?
I think it would have made a difference, but not a huge one because most of the damage is still from the melee strikes. I guess with so many draugr getting hit at once, he should have an easier time; I'm just not sure if the stamina depletion from Karstaag matters a lot 🤔
No draugr archers?
They don't spawn here 😄

The Dovahkiin is the player character, so not an NPC unless you make a copy. But the strength depends entirely on your build. I hope that answers your question 😅
