2400hp Ford Cortina: How to run 6s on 275 Drag Radials

- We first laid eyes on Joe Gauci’s amazing Ford Cortina around 10 years ago. Back then power came from a turbocharged Ford cross-flow six cylinder, good enough to propel the car to an 8.58 at 162mph and genuinely one of the quickest Modified Street cars in Australia period.
The Cortina was then completely rebuild with twin turbo V8 power where is debuted straight into the mid 7-second zone. Extremely consistent times improved to a 7.15 at 202mph.
Fast Forward to today and Joe and the ProFab team have made the switch to small tyre radial racing. The cubic inches have increased to a moderate 380 with larger Garrett twin 88mm turbos and a complete FuelTech FT500 fuel system.

It's an early/mid 70s Cortina from the UK. Coolest body shape Ford did in these. 👌

Yea I've been a fan of this corty for a while Mid 8's at 160mph from a 4.1liter those old 250ci motors are rather underrated I reacon

What I find remarkable is the wheelbase is still stock.
New favourite radial racer, mind blowingly fast and looks tough as f**k. Yet more proof the Aussies have seriously good taste and build world beating cars. Props for the great video..... Peace

Pick any Street Machine mag up and open the back page looking for top quarter mile times. First 3 cars atleast will be either Tina's, Escorts or Capri's - 6 second cars all day with the right work done

They should add their flag in some small subtle way to their brand logo or w/e they use these days...it would make miracles......i personally thought they where from anywhere BUT Brazil.

Mate, that's totally insane ! a TD ? my sister had the model before these, maybe a TC? twin round headlights. It had an iron 250 crossflow, and it was damn fast really, for bog stock, everybody I took for a spin was quite impressed.. In other words, NICE car choice guys!..

The cubes is not the limiting factor. Fords running v8's with less cubes 2t doing 5.80's

I think I read about the blue Cortina with the boxing kangaroo back in the late 90’s or early noughties. Was running a 3.3L cross flow on GasResearch setup, right?

This car uses a conventional torque converter.

0-60 is pretty irrelevant to cars like this but the 1/8th mile is 4.56 @ 169mph so yeah it may be quicker than a Tesla haha...

That's some slow ass 2400 hp... O.o I'd guess that was closer to 1200..
NoOneImportant556 1200 is not good enough for a 6 second pass in a steel bodied 4 door sedan. I would 2000 as the lowest power to reach the 6's in the average steel bodied racecar
and small tires... ck-32 has no clue what he's talking about its leaves the line soft because thats how its set up to run if not he would just over power the tires a spinning aint winning..put some big tires under that thing and he be in the mid to low 6s with less than 400 cubes..the aussies should bring some cars up to beat big chief lmao
