Do you have any abandoned properties near you?
Wish I knew 😂
Found two bits of unregistered land out in the sticks in deepest darkest Sussex. Going to take adverse possession this month. I'll buy the document on Etsy to put a couple of quid in your pocket. The time you put into these videos is appreciated!
Without being too nosey, where abouts in Sussex? I'm from Sussex born and raised
Hi, this is a helpful video, but there are a few issues. Certain lands, such as crown land, highways, and land held in charitable trusts, are generally exempt from adverse possession claims. Also, you must possess the land continuously for a specific period. Under the Limitation Act 1980, the required period is 12 years for unregistered land and 10 years for registered land before you can apply to the land registry. Good luck to you if you can get hold of it.
Yes, you are correct on these factors. Having investigated the piece featured in this video, I made a mistake in explaining who owns the land. Digging in further it's a company who works on behalf of the highways and not the highways itself.
Great work!
Thank you!!
Found out the alleyway behind my house is unadopted would make a great garden for my house 😂 let the ten years begin.
Not 100% how it all works, but let's just get a fence up, photos and go from there.
Fence it off, document it and go!
Great vid Oliver!
Thank you so much :)
No probs at all mate, this is a most helpful vid! I'm looking at a piece of land atm
I'm really glad to hear that. Please let me know how it goes :) @@greenchannel2114
what can you do after you claim the property? you put a fence and then what?
Start doing stuff with it - documenting and receipting the whole process. I'm looking at a piece of land with a derelict house on it. I'll start by getting some skips in and clearing the house, then I'll board it up. After that, clear the undergrowth and put some bee hives and some chickens on it. That way I've 1) taken steps to improve it and 2) Started to monetise it. There's a case of a guy who got a swampy meadow just by holding Shooting Parties on it - didn't spend a penny on the land.
Dex Left a great response!!! I couldn't have said it better myself
yes im 13 and im going to get it tomorrow
also saw your vid from bout a year or 2 back and just wondering how the plot of those are going
It's difficult to keep track of all the plots as I've moved about quite abit. It's on the back burner for now, until I'm I'm a position to continue with it as I'm almost 300 miles away from it
This sound to good to be true
Perhaps. But how would you know unless you try?
It's actually more than 15% is unclaimed.
Oh no way, I didn't realise!!!
Thanks!
Thank you so much!!!!!
Hello, if you adversely possess land, couldn't you just say you've possessed it for 10 years? Just tidy the place up a bit to make it look like you've done alot to it over time?
No. Anyone can say that. You need the evidence and reports to prove your claim..
@@OliverKuiz Presumably people have fabricated evidence etc.
@@OliverKuiz But u can fabricate evidence, no?
Just bought you a couple of coffees as I've watched a few of your videos and found them really, really useful. I'm checking these types of vids out as I've found a place and intend to start soon - nd yours is probably the best on how to get started. However, I don't understand what you mean with using an emial that's not connected to you. Any chance you could give a brief example/explanation ? Dex
Do not use an email with your name in it or can be Google searched. Having a dedicated email to document everything makes it all streamline
If you have any more questions about abandoned property, I'll happily see if I can help you out :)
Have you thought about going to law school?
Yes, I have actually.
@@OliverKuiz you should…you are very smart and creative.
