You have a 40+ year wealth of knowledge about all things auto body, and your sense of humor ("click", "bumper installation tool") is sublime. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge with us! I'm fascinated by your videos. They show me a lot about how salvage repair SHOULD be done.
The quality of your work as well as your painting gnomes is extraordinary. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to buy a vehicle that you repaired. Thanks for sharing your repair process. It's really interesting to see the work that goes into these repairs. If only everyone did quality work like you do, life would be a lot easier.
I can hear it now ... sometime in the future ... someone pulls this car apart again ... pulls off the left side quarter and states ... "Somebody's been here before ..." :o)
Vehcor, The detail work you do is like never I witnessed before. The quality and attention to detail makes me extremely confident to buy a vehicle from you in the future.
You always always do it right even if its invisible you need to do it right as you would know its not, its attention to detail and workmanship in its finest form
@@vehcor You’ll be fine in California. It’s not that expensive to live here . 😉🤔. Besides that, think of all the fun you’ll have triggering the liberals face to face. 🤣🤣
Originally I tuned in for the Mustang build 2 weeks ago. I binge watched the older episodes to learn more about you. I subscribed for your meticulous rebuilds and tutorials. TGIF has taken on a whole new meaning. Aloha from Hawaii 🤙🏽
Now we see why the RAV4 was totalled. It was the heater box fault that added so much to the repair cost that it went over the budget. Whoever replaces the quarter panel next time will see Mr Spotty's ghost there! See you next week, whatever you might be working on. All the best from Queensland Australia.
These things hold their value, even with the extra work it probably should not have been totaled. Some shops just find any reason they can to get out of work they deem too difficult. Best wishes from the USA!
Scott,I really enjoy watching you make these repairs on some of these wrecked vehicles that U end up with,it amazes me that so often the replacement parts are the same color as the vehicle ur repairing, you make all this body work look so easy, and you take pride in the great work that you do,if I ever needed collision work done I would hope to have a guy like you to do the work for me,I'm a faithful subscriber, watch ur video every Friday, keep up the great videos Paul, the oldgoatkeeper
I really enjoy watching you work on the vehicles! It’s nice to watch a craftsman at work. Keep up the GREAT JOB, I would definitely buy a rebuilt vehicle off of you! You are the type of repair man we need more of. 😊👍👌
Woooo.Hoooo..Vehcor Friday. Just getting done house work after my full time job. Does any of these EVER surprise you? Oh wait i know thw answer..lol. Scott thanks a ton for taking the time to make and edit these. Be safe have a great weekend. Its gonna be in the 60's here in Philthadelphia.
Hello I am probably 20 years older than you I did body work for 43 years I like your video's this is real life I been a chief instructor back in the 95 years in that era I think you are a hell of a body man quit hit hub caps with your hands I know my hands hurt from this good work
Dang its nearly identical to the way my kia is , i had to replace the window regulator , take nearly the whole door apart , even door handle off, exactally the same way. Nice work on the repair 👍 You go above and beyond for the extra details , not many do , replacing stuff to make it all look good.
And it was cheap. IAA started timed auctions and this one was on a Sunday so no one was watching. Not to mention I was that a hole that snipes bidders at the last second. 😂😈
Bottom of the door covers seem like would be great for collecting salty water and testing the rust prevention coatings on bottom edge of door. what a Good way to prove your coatings tech by not weeping out that road salt!
Happy Friday Scott! Another action-packed episode of the trials and tribulations of a body tech accompanied by the humble Mr. Spotty. Nice work stitching up the rear section, all the plastic parts, and the diagnosis/presumption of the blend door malfunction in the HVAC system. I feel for ya, having to remove not only the heater box assembly but also the complete dash. Yikes, that's a video in itself, right? Work safe, enjoy your weekend, take care of Mr. Spottty so he can come back for the next adventure! Doug@ the "ranch"
You don’t seem to be your sarcastic self today, you feeling ok,haven’t been able to insult someone yet.always a bright light on my Friday afternoon.just keep doing what your doing 😎😎😎👍👍👍
I am always in awe seeing your videos, and how many tools you use. From the bumper installation tool, to the spoiler installation tool, but most importantly the custom masking tool. I'm surprised you haven't opened up your own harbor freight style tool spot. Oh, and awesome video too.
The heater blend door in my 2010 Impala kept stripping actuator drive gears until I discovered that the previous owner had spilled soda into the vent. After several rounds of alternating spritzing hot water and Windex into the vent, it finally started working without hesitation. I figured as long as I didn't outright pour water into it, it would dry itself out. It did. Whew!
After years in the dark environs of a Toyota quarter panel, Mr. Spotty will return speaking Japanese and looking for some payback. Stay tuned for 'Ninja Spotty'.
When I left the body shop business 20+ yrs ago we had started gluing panles on to help prevent future rust. The glue was actually stronger than the welds as it was continous along the edges. Was there a subsequent problem with this method and everyone has returned to welding?
If pushing in plastic clips were a olympic sport you would be a world champion (even though you used the door seal installation tool to install bumper clips and used the closeout panel installation tool for the roof rail trim installation)
Great video! I just started this job as an apprentice. So far the hardest part has been puttting back all the parts and pieces together and it isnt easy to remember which screws and pieces were there. Pls give some tips when you assemble~ thx
Your videos are always entertaining and informative. As an added bonus to ruin people's lives you should give the seat belt strap a twist before you reinstall it. Have a great weekend and happy Thanksgiving from downstate Illinois!
If there is sticky stuff sticking the doors why not get a shop vac through the hole where you can see the doors and put some hot water down the top vent to unstick the doors ?
First! It's "Fix Someone Else's Mess Friday!" "Really, Toyota? Who still uses wheel covers?" "Oh, Vehcor-san. Buyer not pay extra yen for alloy wheels, they get Dixie pie-plate wheel covers. We buy these paper plates in bulk from local supermarket. Save us much yen for sushi. Yummy.."

The smirk on your face when you removed Mr. Spotty and then he was still on the car... I got a chuckle out of that one too

With all the videos on RUclips I can honestly say that yours, and South Main Auto are by far the best!
Great video. I am amazed at the amount of "glue" used in auto construction.
It's stronger than steel in some applications.

Top class work and plenty of patience, love watching a professional at work
Jeezo pete-all those "SNAP TOGETHER" parts that make that car.....wowzer!-enjoyed your working through it all, Thanks!
I have to say that the newer Rav4's look a lot better than the older boxy ones. Nice work as always. I like the color on this one. 👍
I actually like the moldings and painted bumpers on the 2016+ same body panels just no fisher price trim.
🤔the newers one look boxy, the 2016 model has nice countours the new ones from 21- have sharp edges
After binge watching a bunch of your videos I would rather buy my next vehicle from you even over brand new. You do everything from top to bottom

Always interesting and informative. Thank you for sharing. In my youth, the trendy named RAV4 was called a station wagon.
Amazing you were able to buy a white or silver Toyota from the auction that didn't get sold to go overseas. Nice work as usual.
And it was cheap. IAA started timed auctions and this one was on a Sunday so no one was watching. Not to mention I was that a hole that snipes bidders at the last second. 😂😈
Gotta love those multipurpose installation tools you have. I think manufacturers have decided to support their use extensively!
Great work as usual
I was surprised to see this written off. No seatbelts, airbags, mechanical damage... and still driveable. What a score!
Lovely Jubbly, very thorough.
Great work and keep safe out there and it's literally looks fantastic job

Very satisfying; nice work!

I work at a place where I cut quarters panels on cars for body shops kind interesting to see how they actually do it very interesting
Man I love these videos happy your taking time to do them
I drive the same car, surprising how it all just pops apart. Nice car.
How did you cut out the "new" quarter panel? That is the main trick and is missing.
Those are some nice, reliable trim installers you got there. Might be a pen that fell in the "gutter".
When I left the body shop business 20+ yrs ago we had started gluing panles on to help prevent future rust. The glue was actually stronger than the welds as it was continous along the edges. Was there a subsequent problem with this method and everyone has returned to welding?
We still use glue

Looks great. Definitely not buying new in the future. Rebuilt is the new NEW!
Great experience. Love the skills. Keep it up the great work man .
Those screws for the door strikers often have very shallow torx recess so it easily strips.
Love your channel you work and teach my kind of guy

That sure is a great deal of work just to replace the fuel filler door cheers from Jacksonville Florida
If the people who design the vehicles we drive today had to repair them they would be back at the drawing board, nice job on the Toyota 😎👍👍

Dash! Interesting idea on what caused the issue.
Well, my theory is that it was a combination of bad design and slobs. We will find out for sure in the next video.
It may have design flaws but it’ll still outlast a lot of vehicles on the road! Anyway I love this content so keep it coming!
Great job!!!
I’m glad to see Mr. Spotty is adhering to the new contract!! 😂

Question.. do you seam weld where panels meet? (Roof/quarter)
Not the spot welds.
Would like to see the body work and paint process.
