This guy is good. Feeling very humble right now 🎉
Very very very good man!!!
Glad you think so!
F@cking mint man! She will be all shiny and minty!! Cant wait to see more
Question, is it a must to remove the rear window prior to removing the quarter panel?
Yes, there are spot welds on the inner flange behind the glass as well as behind the quarter glass
Really good video man! might be worth putting the make and model in description for SEO. also just curious, did the original estimate have a used quarter first?
Thanks for the advice ! And nope. We use only OEM for any replacement that involve spot welds
@@AUTOBODYTECH I don’t know how many supplements I have put in to change from used quarter to OEM. The only way some insurance companies would justify it was the crimp in the wheel well. That’s in NE Oklahoma
@screefus you're from Oklahoma?
@@masterflow101 yes sir. Born and raised.
What airsaw is that?, nice work.
I have the same car that needs the same repair. Where are you located?
Late comment but how long do the 5.0 or 3.0 last on the belt sander? I use the air sander from cornwell but looking to change to the milwaukee sander if it can last the whole quarter panel without killing the battery.
@@Houstonee1425 haha no chance! my 6.0 will not do it. Maybe 2 to 3 of them for a full quarter panel
@ damn!I was really hoping so. I’m looking into the milwaukee DA heard good things. Thanks for the insight man!
How is the belt sander what state you work bro you do great work.
The belt sander is amazing. I love it. It does use up batteries quickly, though. I'm in Canada 🇨🇦
@@AUTOBODYTECH wow you in Canada bro you go great work you would be doing good in the states they pay better here.
I have the die sander in Milwaukee brand and indeed the battery life sucks but I was curious about the belt sander because I myself use an air belt sander.
@ashramdhan1582 thank! The pay here is great as well. I also use the 3m pneumatic belt sander it's also really really good!
@@AUTOBODYTECH that's good to know.
Thanks.
Can you do a better body filler video on bigger panels I want to see your mod work better.
@ashramdhan1582 I will definitely have a chance to do more, I think the biggest one I have is the red Volkswagen GTI on my channel. Check it out if you haven't already!!
@AUTOBODYTECH, what was the can spray you used on top of the body filler?
@@etoilexxx2007 self etch primer. That's just to protect the bare metal until it gets to the paint shop
nice job man
Thanks!
What is the the significance of having so much foam In modern cars as seen at 8.25
Could cause rust issues in the future
Good video as always btw 👍🏻
The product being applied at 8 25 is a structural adhesive. The car isn't designed to have any welds here.
The following product is a seam sealer over the foam. This is a multi function to help with vibration of the panel and also a sound dampener
Appreciate your reply
Majority of new cars have the similar foam seal
Hey man what are those clamps for the inside of the door to hold the new qtr panel?
They are the micro grips. Here's a link to them: amzn.to/4cZyzzi
Hi would you be able to list all the equipment and material names please 🙏?
How come you dont use a spot weld drill bit ,insted you use the small belt sander ,whitch one is faster ,.
@@ivanrajsel6445 belt sander is definitely quicker and takes much less of a toll on the body than a drill
PDR ?
Do you know the guage steel this is? Im doing some repairs and have to get a welder but want to know what capability welder to get on a budget
@@MrEcortez16 likely 23 or 24 gauge. Check out the arc captain welder if you're on a budget! Check out the video review on my channel
How did you know exactly where to cut on the new quarter panel?
I saw you mock it up on the car. Did you mark the edges of the cuts on the chassis and then use tape as a straight line from point to point?
I was following the OEM procedures that I had printed out. It tells you exactly where the cuts should be done. I have other videos on my channel that may go more into depth. This one, I did not do a narration
Just a couple spot welds eh haha! What air saw blades do you use? I've been using the snappy ones but they aren't getting any cheaper these days
We use cyrotool and sometimes Lenox from our local supplier
How much do they usually charge for a job like this
About 3000 to 4000
Man! This guy could make $2k a day. I bet ya.
First he'd have to buy that $100k spot welder........but it's doable....start up his own business, hire a handful of people with ICAR qualifications and do whatever is necessary to take on insurance repairs..... insurance work is where the constant income is at. I mean yeah, custom body shop can bring in big dollars, but the daily grind doing insurance work will reliably keep the bills paid.
Rust repair, lots of hammering & bondo application, dealing with older cars which have concave body curves........all that takes up too much time. It's much faster dealing with newer rust-free vehicles with "straight" lines and "flat" panels.
Hm... how long does a job like that take (how many hours does it actually take to do that)? I'm assuming it's an all day affair.
@@jackroman8821 I would say 15 to 20 hours of actual working time. Not including paint
6:10 Please name or p/n of that clamp ???? 6:10

Dope if you can comment over the video would be 10/10
@Amir-md3ve yea! Sadly I didn't for this one 😕
Belt sanding in lieu of drilling spot welds appears to be the way to go.
Yes, 100%. Unless you are re-using the panel. It puts much less stress on the body and is much more efficient
@@AUTOBODYTECH I actually am reusing the quarter panel. I was thinking even using this method I could mig weld it back on. I know drilling/chiseling the spot welds tore the flange to hell. To repair the flange was thinking to butt well a new piece on.
@@bgswansonlocc good luck with the repairs!
Like a hot knife through butta Ma.
Era mejor enderezar el.golpe....pero de.esa forma.en que lo haces producirá mucha oxidación la soldadura que esta al otro lado del panel
DIY ! 😂
That wasn't bad damage it could've been easily fixed with Pdr Technic
