Looks like you’ve done this many times. Nice job, I’ll have to get a spot welder leaves it cleaner looking ,currently mig welding everything myself but it’s more time consuming

Hi I have a 2012 civic lx sedan and my car was rear ended in the same spot as in the video. Will insurance total the car . Also if its repairable do body shop replace the rear quarter panel or try to fix it.

Serious question. Is there a reason you didn’t prep it ready to weld before you removed the deck lid and tail lamp? You had all the gaps correct and ready to go.

Mig weld.. punch tool and plug weld it if you don’t have a spot welder

Very good work, I was expecting a lot of filler and approximations but thats put together almost the same as how it started.
I suppose most gaps don't line up perfect the first time though?

What are those instructions you have printed out at 4:00? Are those available for DIY-ers? Also, is that weld through primer you use at 5:42? And at 7:50, what is the stuff you put on and what’s the purpose?
They are specification insurance prints out so you will cut and weld where they want you to

3M 80 grit belts
No sleeves on Honda Quarter replacement but I love your work. Repair manuals say no sleeves
What tool did you use to get rid of the welding points before you took it off ?
He uses a "band file belt grinder" which is like a belt sander but just a little narrow belt that sticks out. There are also drill bits sold at harbor freight to drill these out. They might have been rivets instead of spot welds though I am not sure.

I've got a 2009 corrola with rust on the roof near the windshiled, no doubt it's under the windshield where the roof meets it... I need both front and back glass removed and a new roof... its a real pain because I'm only at 70k Miles on it... they quoted me $3000 Cdn for the job... sheesh... but it's a lot of work... so understandable

We just did this to a 2019 Honda Odyssey. Granted the sliding door had to be replaced and fitted as well, but the repair was roughly $8200 so for this older civic, no door damage. Probably closer to $3800-$4400 depending on the availability of that paint

@@jeffarmer4428 dont see the need to primer the inside of new panel since the new panel has factory primer already..I just use weld threw primer on the spots that i cleaned for spot or mig welds..But hey always willing to learn more!!

On average, how much would a project like this cost? i have a passenger quarter panel that suffers from a nasty dent, so spot welding a whole new panel will be the only way to go.

I would like to see the continued to see all your spray able seem sealers and caulking beats replicated honda quarter's well there not as easy as BMW 😂 gravelgauard on the rocker to that should be 125 hour sheet im hoping they wrote it correctly with all the adjacent panels that are damaged apon removal and installation of welding

It's around $800 CDN here for my front left ... its mostly labor in costs... and specialized equipment

All in all probably $3-4
@LetMeSeeThis99 I hope you’re just being facetious lmao but yes $3-4k. Depends what shop you go to. Labor rates are about $60-65 and up for body and paint. A quarter panel-bumper job like this pays a good shop 14-15 hrs, plus all the blending required on the rear door roof rail and gutters.
@@drummer_zay9493 what about just the fitting/cutting/welding without the rest of the body and paint work? We have a paint shop, but have never replaced a qtr panel before.
@@tanker242 for this specific car it probably pays 10-12 hours. Times that by $60 and your looking at about $720. I’d say closer to $850 tho after all is said and done, materials cost and otherwise

It’s easier to fair the seams when using a backer as opposed to a overlap.
