@@TheAwesomeDarkNinja I’m pretty sure you will enjoy the game. The first one was awesome, and looking at the previews and demo the second one will be even more awesome.
Game Freak and TPC should honestly be embarrassed how Sword & Shield look compared to MH Stories! Everything from the combat, animations and story is leagues ahead of anything Pokemon has put out recently
@@firechar27 It's more like they know they don't have to try to get great sales. Maybe some day if a game does bad they'll actually try, but I don't see a pokemon game selling poorly. I just checked and Pokemon Sword and Shield has more sales than Monster Hunter World, so yeah. They'll never have to try at this rate
I'm someone that played through all of Stories 1 and even attempted a nuzlocke run (spoiler: it was a massive mistake!) and I put 8+ hours into this demo before reaching the end of it. On the whole, I really loved Stories 1 and from what I've seen and played of Stories 2 it looks even better. However, I wanted to point out some key changes that I'm happy about, some I'm not so happy about, and a few issues I had with Stories 1 that still seem to persist. Again, I did really love Stories 1 and know I'll love Stories 2, but that's why I'm more honed in on a few things. So, first big improvement in my opinion is how genes now work. The fact that there are spaces and genes that unlock through leveling I think is great. My biggest issue with genes and gene transferring in S1 was that the only skills available through that were the skills the monsties started with, meaning only level 1 skills could be mixed and matched. But, with this new system, now you can transfer skills that the monsties learn as they level up which is great to me! In a similar vain, getting monster eggs as a whole is also a lot better in this game. In S1, eggs all came in FOUR color variations. It often lead to me thinking I got a new monster only for it to be one I already had, despite the egg color seeming to have little to no connection to the monster. Now, they are one uniform color, which is so much nicer. Then, while I'm not 100% sure, I think it's easier to tell if you got an egg with good genes in this one. When you get an egg in S2, it'll glow gold when picking it up if it has some extra genes or glow rainbow if it has maximum genes. I don't recall that being the case in S1, but I'm not 100% certain. Either way, it's either an improvement or a consistent good feature. EDIT: I originally had talked about being disappointed by eggs seeming to only appear after fighting the monster for this next part. FORTUNATELY, it would seem that I did just genuinely get really bad luck with getting monster eggs in order, which is honestly great to hear. I'm very happy it was simply my own misfortune and not something with the game! So, that's one of my few issues gone! Hooray! Another positive I have is not only the introduction of new weapon types but the ability to switch between weapons mid combat and the type effectiveness, adding a whole new layer to combat. In S1, it was essentially pick the weapon you like and that's it. Now, while you still can do that there's now a lot more layers to it. Do you just stick with one weapon and stay consistent at the risk of less effectiveness against some monsters? Maybe you bring 3 of one weapon so that you have skill/element variety while still having that effectiveness issue. Or, you bring 1 of each type, forcing you to learn multiple styles but being able to be effective in any given scenario. Plus, just like in S1, all the weapons have very distinguishing combat styles, which is great. However, alongside having unique skills, each weapon had unique basic attack combos in S1, which seems to have been removed in S2. I always really liked them as on top of deciding if you wanted to use kinship for skills, it made you consider how to use basic attacks. Do you just use the ones you know will win head-to-heads, or do you risk using less effective types of attacks to get off the combos. I hope they do get introduced later in the game, but presently they're absent which is a real shame to remove that layer of depth to the combat. Then, final few things. I'm very happy that monsties with lower levels on your team get a decent exp boost to help them catch up to the rest of your team faster. That was probably my biggest complaint about S1. Though I understand from a story standpoint why all new monsties you get start off at level 1, it didn't mean I liked it, especially near the end of the game. It made trying to use new monsties in the later parts of the game SO tedious. Especially, say you're like me whose favorite monster doesn't appear until the final area, where you now need to get that level 1 up to 40+. While the new exp boost definitely helps, I'll have to wait and see how much it helps as I progress through the later parts of the game, as going from 1 to 10 is a lot easier than 1 to 40. Then, I wish the defense on armor was either explained better or displayed better. It says how much Defense it has against its resisted type and how much it has against its weak type, but nothing else. I ASSUME the rest are just in the middle, but are the rest the same in the middle, or do they vary and if so by how much? It doesn't make too much of a difference in this game and you still have a good sense of the defense, but it's still a little annoying not knowing exactly how it works. Finally, more of a small pet peev, it seems as though S2 will have the same mandatory party slot reserved for Rathalos as it was in S1. Again, I understand why it's the case in both games from a story perspective and it's truly a very minor thing, but it still always slightly bugged me how I couldn't have full control of my team throughout the story. So, anything that I didn't mention I either think is just as good or better but not really worthy of pointing out. Again, I loved Stories 1 and think on the whole Stories 2 is even better. Just wanted to share my thoughts on some of the big improvements and the few issues I have.
I actually disliked basic attack combos as if I remember correctly if you don’t win the hth you either the combo ended or you just didn’t continue and had to do the attack again hoping the monster didn’t attack you. As most monsters use only one type of attack and then change to a different one under certain circumstances that rendered some basic attack combos unable to be preformed because it requires you to do an attack that looses the hth. And with only two targets for the monster to attack. It seems like it chooses the rider a lot more than the monster. (I used hunting horn at the end of the game and it was a pain to get some songs off)
Yeah, thanks for writing all that out! But also chiming in to say I got a bulldrome egg from a rare den right after fighting kulu yaku, so you can definitely still get monsters without having to fight them in a story point quest first.
I think it just seemed that way as there are only 5 monsties you can get in the demo and you get kulu ya-ku, velocidrome, puki puki, and I think yian kut ku. as guarenteed monsters through story quests.
Thank you Cody and Sylem for letting me know about that. That was genuinely going to be my biggest issue. Guess I did just get really unlucky, cause I got so many eggs that I only went to do the required Bulldrome fight because I had no more space in the monstie pens, that's how many eggs I had gone through and I never got a Bulldrome or Pukei up to that point. Edit: Shadowfire I saw your reply as I was commenting. That's probably true, but I wouldn't have expected Bulldrome to be so rare.
Capcom well done, this is how you advertise a game. From what is shown in the demo. It is going to be an amazing experience. The gameplay has various mechanics. You will forget it is a turn based game.
MH has such good designs that, even before playing the base games, when I played the OG stories I was guessing most monsters first moves just on how the looked and were animated
Honestly: That's something even better in the action based combat of the mainline games. Often enough you can guess what they'll do, where their good hitzones are etc. Sometimes I feel like the designers must've taken a ton of anatomy classes and watched even more documentaries about animals.
@@4ny3ody I 100% agree. Its so good that I now think health bars are a crutch for devs. MH doesn't need them bc all the visual indicators the monsters themselves give is more than enough
@@4ny3ody you are right about thinking that because from what we know they have a biologists Team that helps with the Designs and make them feel realistic and explainable
@@pokemagi1018 mine didn't and i overwrote my save that i had before going on the quest cause i didnt pay attention. Still not to bad still enjoying it immensely even if i restarted thankfully my time was cut down alot cause i didnt watch the cutscenes again
Whenever they announced it it got me hyped up for that instead of MHR. The first Stories was one of the best games I played honestly, and this one is planning out to be even better
@@doolenny9458 oh those frame drops are unfortunately terrible I love what i played and im so excited for the full game after being hesitant at first bout the game But yeah the performance problems are my only complaints tbh otherwise i really enjoyed what i played it was so fun
I played the demo for 2-3 hours and I was wondering if I was accidentally playing the full game with how engrossed I became in the world. Edit: Negatives: FPS doesn’t bother me as much and I probably glossed over a lot of those issues. The camera speed was a little hard to control but I got used to it being a bit slow at the start. Positives: The game is charming, funny, and the art style is perfect. I am big fan of the English voices and I love the opening song at the beginning.
Maxing the speed of the camera and the sensitivity is the FIRST THING I DID! Once I got the option to do it, done. No way in hell I was about to play it like that haha that being said, I'm about 8 hours into the demo and I plan on maxing out everything I can before the game comes out
My only issue with the frame drops is that it seemed to happen during cutscenes at the start which....I guess is better than during gameplay but its still really weird to me.
Back again. 15 hours into the demo and I've done everything I can, so now I'm just farming money haha I cannot wait to immediately farm anjanath and max all that stuff out too. I love this game, it's a perfect fit for what I need in my availability.
I played it for 4-5 hours and I absolutely loved it, I'm not that into turned based combat but what really intrigues me is the story, I want to see where the dynamic between the Riders and Hunters will go and I want to see if after all these years the rumors of the guild being corrupt are true, even if its not considered cannon cause its a spin off, I don't care, the story looks really promising and I can't wait for it to release.
it's such a slight *slight* performance drop on switch, sure, you notice it, but it doesn't make the game unplayable, it doesn't lag, and it doesn't ruin the overall experience here's hoping they manage to optimize it before it's releases, sure, but even if they don't quite get it running absolutely perfectly, it's still going to be an amazing game
The performance drop actually did make the game unplayable for me and I assume more than a handful of others. I'm photosensitive. I don't get seizures but I get photosensitive headaches. That's a real thing that many people get. It's far more common than the photosensitive seizures you always see warnings about. The choppy framerate combined with wildly uneven frame-pacing gave me a headache. I had to quit playing the demo after ~45 minutes. I really didn't want to either. I really hope they fix the performance in the final release otherwise I will be forced to get the game on PC instead of Switch. Sad, because my friends play on Switch..
Is it weird that I am more excited for Stories 2 than MH Rise? Like, I am definitely a sucker for anything Monster Hunter related but I also love RPGs so this is like a mish mash of the things I love.
You're not alone. I had a lot of hype for Rise and even though it is still a great game, it falls short in a handful of areas. The stories 2 demo had me feeling like a kid again while gaming and I cant wait for July 9th!
@@jewmanji6266 True, it’s unfortunate that Rise is being put on the back burner for Stories 2 for the time being, because it still has allot of issues that need to be addressed.
@@Qballiz2kool rise isnt on the "back burner", they are two different teams. Rise just doesnt have any content because b team is focusing on making shit paid dlc
I've put in probably 40 hours on this save point, just constantly running Rare Monster Dens and gathering Paintball mats to force Retreats for specific Monstie eggs. Maxed out my level and 2 full sets of every monster in the demo with decent genes, and now I'm hunting prime genes and just flooding my inventory with monster parts. I'm really excited to get the full game when it drops!
Something I really feel is going to be overlooked is the absolutely amazing sound design. From the sound fx when you navigate the UI and battle menu, to the quality of the ost, to the steps of your character and monstie and sounds in nature, to the sound fx while switching weapons and attacking, and the sound fx when performing actions such as clashes and double attacks, and so much more. The sound design is probably the best I've ever experienced in a videogame. So well done and clearly handcrafted to perfection.
I haven't preordered a game for years, but it only took 15 minutes of playing the demo for me to quickly head to the store and give Nintendo my money. It's that fun!
@Drago Slayer sadly blinking wont be in the Game because He is a non offical Frontier Monster . Lucent on the other Hand could appear in the Game and it would be Hella dope to Ride a invisible nargacuga
I've played quite a bit in handheld mode and I personally feel like it runs A LOT better. MAYBE it's the smaller screen played a trick in my mind and made so I wouldn't noticed the drops, but it felt way more consistent in handheld mode than docked.
Another thing is that I felt that where it matters, that is in battles, the framerate is pretty consistent. Even big attacks just drops for fractions of a second so it isn't as much of a big deal.
@@christopherhu7189 So I'm not the only one. This is actually good for me, because when it comes to JRPGs, I prefer playing them on handheld. But I do kinda wish it ran batter docked since the game is TOO BEAUTIFUL to keep only on a small screen the whole time. Maybe in a day 1 patch, who knows.
Bro I NEED the game to drop 😭 I played the demo for 8 hours too! I’m so hyped for this game it’s crazy, already have the deluxe edition pre ordered. I also got an amazing gened pukei-pukei along with maxing out all of his weapons and armor!
I alr have really good genes for all my monsties and fully upgraded alot of weapon and armor so far i don know now just farming some healing items for when the game releases
My only problem with the demo, is that once you finish it you can't go back to explore the area more. The first Stories' demo gave you that option, at least in mobile that is.
@@moy9948 as long as you manually save over the "End of the game" state with your new "I can explore the world state" you're fine but yeah. Just don't make the same mistake twice
I played it for about 12, and that's kinda pushing how much content the demo has without farming eggs for hours which is kinda pointless super early on.
@Daniel Peter John In those hours I did manage to max the equipment available in the demo, accept for the SnS and Greatsword you can only obtain via bottle caps. Alongside the “gene meta” I heard somewhere, idk what the meta is. I did manage to get a Yian-Kut Ku with fire and tech bingo though, and a Bulldrome with crit M and evasion M. In all, I found all 24 hours nice and fulfilling! :)
Ya..performance needs to be a priority here. I'm loving the demo so far. It's destroys the generic garbage outdated mainline pokemon formula. I'm excited.
Yeah, going from 60 fps to 20 fps on the regular is WAY worse than having it locked at 20 fps to be honest... It's super disorienting. The game is very fun though
Not a huge Pokémon fan, not a huge Monster Hunter fan, not a huge "cutesy" anime fan...Played this demo for 12 hours on Switch and 8 hours on the Lite. Contender for game of the year I never knew I had.
So what your telling me is that the biggest issue of stories 2 (so far) is that its to ambitious for the switch to handle believe it or not stories 1 had the same issue on 3ds. Not with frames but more of a pop in problem when you went away from somewhere and the people would turn blue but when you walked up to them they were fine.
Idk, I wouldn’t say the game was too ambitious. For stories 1 that was the case for the poor 3ds but for stories 2 i think it’s just not optimized well. The switch should be able to run these visuals well. It’s not running too badly by any means and doesn’t matter anyways
I saw this game at E3 and thought it could be a possible Pokémon replacement for me so I thought that I'd try the demo out just to see if I'm missing out on anything. Never played a MH game before and didn't know what to expect when I downloaded the demo. Opened up the game and instantly loved the art style and was surprised that the game even had character customization (and a pretty damn good one at that). Told myself I'd play for only 2 hours and ended playing 5 (while taking my time). Had to force myself to hop off because of how immersed I got into the world, characters, gameplay, graphics, monsters, and music. I've never pre-ordered a game before in my life but I had so much fun with this and it sparked so much of an interest in me that I decided to break my "no pre-order" rule and pre-order it. If you're a Pokémon fan and have been disappointed with the recent Pokémon games for the past few years like I have, I highly suggest you try out the demo for MHS2 and consider buying the game, even if you don't pre-order. Never thought I'd have so much fun with a turn-based RPG (and it's only the demo!!). Pokémon who???
Played around 8h myself and got my Monsties and gear maxed out. Luving it. Loved MHS1 already, so that doesn't come as a huge suprise. But i didn't expect to lvoe the new stuff that much. The new weapon types and their integration feels fantastic (especially the Bow), the Bottlecap Melyx is a great addition, so are the Everdens, the fact that you can automatically switch to the monstie with the ride action you need and I really enjoyed the battle buddies. Not to forget that it looks fantastic, I really dig the new art style.
We can only play the demo so far, but damn... I love this game already!! On the first run I was so thrilled that I immediately played through the story (as far as I can at the moment), but because I had a long ride ahead of me yesterday, I restarted again (with more exploring) 😂 The art design is refreshing to me - who only knows the last three parts of the series and has never played the first part of MHS. I love games where you not only have to fight (and kill) monsters, but you can also become friends (and explore an 'unknown world') - so this game seems perfect for someone like me haha The kind of (fight) animations, cutscenes and how cute the little monsters look after they hatch... I really like it ^^ And there are already three of my favorites in the game, even if you can only get two for your team at the moment. (Kulu and Pukei) Even though the last few games have mostly disappointed me, I'm still a Pokémon fan at heart. That's why I was a bit skeptical at first because of the simplicity of the combat system, but I must say... I like it to. Long story short - I pre-ordered the game yesterday and yes... I'm reaallly hyped 😂 And I have great hope and am curious to see how the story will continue.
You should play the first one, there's callbacks from the first one (Navirou) for linking the Timeline, if you play this you can't even know what happened in the previous game and the background of some characters
@Drago Slayer Idk... for the level I think is better to 80, for the armour and the weapon maybe, not sure, but maybe the Ratha or the Seregios. I'm not an expert so for more I advise you to search in RUclips videos
Really loved both Stories demos. Never got around to buying/playing the full 1st game (even though it intrigued the hell out of me), but I'm so excited for Stories 2 that I'm definitely going to be getting it day 1. I've been hooked on the demo for a similar amount of hours, just grinding levels, materials, and money to prep for the full game.
I played 6 hours yesterday and I love it. Stories to me really scratches that specific itch of gathering that all of the older MH games had in the beginning - but throughout the whole game! I don't know if I'm weird like that, but I love to go out and gather. Especially when it's a largely connected world that is nice to explore. The combat took a bit of getting used to because I played the first game on 3DS, where you had big chunky buttons on the bottom screen. Obviously the menu layout is wildly different here, but I don't mind after getting used to it. What I'm a bit sceptical about so far though, is two-fold: 1. the new skill system. In the first game, as Ruri said, each skill was tied to one of the three styles or it was elementless. This meant changing up your actions depending on the flow of the fight. As it is now, I don't have to do that at all - I just have to choose the correct type of letter skill and I can do the same rotation in a different color (literally). Which is kind of a let-down, but it'll probably get way more varied later in the full game (hopefully). 2. The second thing I'm a bit sceptical about is the buddy system. In Stories 1, it always was just you or your monstie that was targeted. It made for a tight, but (if you knew the monster) tactical experience. My first couple fights with Kayna at my side felt a lot more chaotic and also a bit crutch-y. I'm by no means a challenge runner or anything, but when Kayna consistently deals more damage than me AND poisons the monster, it feels kinda bad. It also directly is a nerf to Gunlance because you get way less head to heads meaning the point of my weapon is kinda moot. It's cool I can still do double attacks with the buddy or the buddie's monstie. Overall, I love it and I'm definitely going to buy the full game. I need to make the strongest Arzuros, for sure. Side note: I find it funny how the Hunting Horn seems to make the same transition as in the main games but backwards. In Stories 1, it worked very similar to how it's in Rise: Short songs and your attacks automatically generate notes depending on the style of attack. In Stories 2, at least as far as I could tell, song effects are all relegated to non-damaging skills you have to choose from a menu, meaning you have to choose between buffing and attacking, kinda like way back in the first iteration of the weapon. That ties right into my complaints about the skill system, because in Stories 1, I liked the feeling of attacking alongside my monstie and supporting. That's kinda gone now it seems.
14:51 maximum "kinsect" gauge lol :D I can't wait for the full game and your playthrough on twitch/youtube (hopefully you will also post that here as a playlist)
From what I have played so far, they seem to have nerfed the Hunting Horn, as it is no longer activating effects on successive attacks. Then again, being able to spam Speed attacks to get healing every 2 turns in the first game may have been a bit too strong, so I would understand why.
@David Gendron it was 99 in the first game, It was probably locked to 50 til you beat the final boss of the game though. I don't remember anymore though.
Help? O.k. Yeah it runs poorly, I can live with that. However, the camera is just so off putting. The delay in moving and then just speeding up so fast I feel like I am trying to turn a car on an oil slick. Is there some hidden setting that makes the camera move but not at either 1 mph or 1000 mph?
I’m having loads of fun personally. Already did all the quests available so far, working on getting a team of some real good gened monsties together rn The battles are amazing, and the quick battle feature is a godsend :0
Anyone figure out a way to make a character with a tan that doesn't leave you orange or yellow? The team can make npcs with tans but if you try to make a character with the same tan it ends up yellow or orange, it seems there is no in between.
Almost 8 hours myself and lvl 11 (*edit* now that i know that is the demo lvl cap, im not finishing itso I don't waste anymore xp from quests like an idiot) and trying to craft every armor and weapon and upgrade to max for demo. I'll be prepared for day 1 release.
I am glad this game improved upon the already addictive gameplay of the first one. The battles are way more engaging now, it is really addictive and this is just a demo...
@@danielmales123 It feels the same, but also really improved - the weapons switching is a totally new mechanic, but it fits in so naturally, it doesn't feel out of place.
@@danielmales123 -shrug- Maybe I'm just some pleb, I don't really notice that. XD idk, I'm used to a little wonk in my games, so maybe that's why I don't notice it.
I accidentally saved after the final encounter so unfortunately I’m kind of locked out, but honestly I’m okay with it, I don’t want to be too OP when the real game comes out.
@@danielz6177 your level also maxed out when you hit level 11, you can't gain any more experience after that, so they're not going to let you get that op
@@danielz6177 I think that feature is a godsend and I'm about to see if it works on Rare Dens because if it does I'm save scumming for an Awesome Smelling Egg. Lol
I’m not a monster hunter fan, I only played 1 of them and that one was only for the first few levels, but once I tried this demo I really did love this game already. Can’t wait for it to drop so I can get a new game.
I wished the climbing field skill was available in the demo. Exploring the dens and noticing all of the unreachable chests was pretty annoying. Also, I'm not terribly convinced by the buddy system. Having half of your units in battle be completely controlled by an AI doing semi-random actions makes it much harder to apply certain strategies. Also a lot of weapons rely on winning head-to-heads, which is way less likely if the monster has 4 different targets to choose from. I hope it doesn't become a staple in the final game and we are only forced to use it during specific parts of the story.
i think their will(hopefully) be a mix of buddy sections and solo sections. They did lets us off on our own a few times so at the very least at some time we get to choose whether we want to work with a budy.
I can't decide between bow and GL for a pierce weapon. GL looks like it might be strong in the full game later on simply because of the seal effects. My setup right now is SnS, HH and bow. Btw the Riders also kill monsters and they seem to kill more innocent ones than the hunters. On a side note Aptonoths description even mentions it's deep-seated in Rider culture for it's delicious meat and it's similar for Bullfango. Not only that but we raid nests and occasionally kill the occupants. All monster related quests at least in the demo mention "slay" as well.
Not watched the entire vid yet, but I sank a similar number of hours into the demo myself. And it is overall a huge improvement over the first game. To the point where I did all of the available sidequests (barring the arena-like ones) managed to get myself a party of Monsties that all had a rainbow gene each and got my Rider to Lv. 11, loved what I've played so far and can't wait for the full game.
10/10. So excited for the full release. I'm ok with Capcom doing all genres at this point. Give me monster hunter cooking. Monster hunter mmos. Monster hunter farming sims. I'm ready.
I played the first one and absolutely loved it. I've pre-ordered the second one along with the armor sets. They armor looks really cool and hopefully has decent stats. Should be good for early on at least.
My biggest problem with the demo isn't the frame rate drops, but the controls. Both turning the camera and moving my character feel so... arcadey. Other than that I had a blast.
I'm already hooked, it's like this game is hitting the biggest things on my checklist for a JRPG, which is especially a solid crafting system with item drops, lots of playable characters (in this case the monsters you fight alongside) and weapons and armor that you can see on your character. Of course this is besides the standards, like a good battle system, decent story and graphics etc. I already know I'm going to spend a ridiculous amount of time hatching eggs.
Loved the demo (completed it last night); now I wait for the 9th. I know for a fact I'm getting Gammoth on my team; but I'm also hoping Agnaktor is ride-able this time around.
Wooow! And I have been waiting for Pokemon Archeus for game freak to finally create a game for the core fans. Capcom did it, absolutely LOVE this game! Counting the days until the release!
Finished the demo today, my only complaint is the partner like your hunter partner and monster A.I, I wish it was a bit more intelligent when it comes to selecting its moves based on what type of monster your facing, other than that though the game was really fun, the combat was very interesting and fun to play, and I could definitely tell right away that the general loop of monster hunter is still there, which made me really happy as someone coming into this game from playing GenU, MH: World, and MH: Rise only. I also had ALLOT of fun guessing what type of attacks a monster I was fighting was going to most likely favor, based on the attacks they would use in the normal MH games, it was so exciting when I’d actually guess it right.
It makes me laugh because when the demo first came out, despite trying to grind as much as I could, I still ended up finishing it within like 10 hrs. Thank god for the autosave saving right before the last boss battle and allowing me to go back to grinding. It sounds rather weird but one thing I absolutely love is that your Monsties are actually bigger with the second game. I'm absolutely loving the crap out of this game so far and can almost guarantee I'm not going to be getting off my Switch the moment the full game is released. XD
You don't have to minmax in this demo if you don't want to, since the full game will have The Rite of Channeling. I, personally, am doing it because I enjoy the gameplay so much as MHS is my 3rd favorite game of all time, and I want a goal to reach for while playing since there's no pvp and I've completed the story in the demo. I personally love the lack of overworld music because it creates a relaxing experience, especially while farming for eggs. Traversing the overworld while farming eggs is the most nostalgic experience for me in MHS1.
The game is already so fun, and will only get better with the main game. Im also hyped for the possible DLC for the game. This time around we're actually getting the elder dragons that only the Japanese mh stories people could get. Imagine the possibility of riding a Valstrax dood!! Edit: Another thing I love about the game is not only how bright and animated it is, but even though you can only wear full set armor, you can actually color the WHOLE ARMOR for most of them.
Gotta say I'm playing this on my switch lite & haven't had any performance issues at all! The same with Rise on the lite actually too! I might just be one of the lucky ones but it seems I always hear more about performance issues on the regular switch, particularly in docked scenarios.
I completed everything in the demo except getting a gold medal on the second arena quest... Why is there no gunlance other than the default ones at the smithy? Thank goodness the melynx exists but it kind of sucks that you can't craft one.
I played MHS1 and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think I cloked in 75hours, and have yet to end it. This looks great. Time to go back to MHS1 to finish it before moving on to this one.
Its very addictive. I played it throw and came back and farmed for no reason for the next 3 hours! Then I beat Anjanath again. Its very fun! I was a little sceptical at first but I bought it imediatly after playing.
This is the game Pokémon wishes to be. The first game destroyed the Pokémon franchise in terms of combat, animation and story.
This is pretty much my hope for 2. Never played the franchise but I hope it can give me a more fulfilling Pokemon-esque RPG.
@@TheAwesomeDarkNinja I’m pretty sure you will enjoy the game. The first one was awesome, and looking at the previews and demo the second one will be even more awesome.

It's more like they know they don't have to try to get great sales. Maybe some day if a game does bad they'll actually try, but I don't see a pokemon game selling poorly.
I just checked and Pokemon Sword and Shield has more sales than Monster Hunter World, so yeah. They'll never have to try at this rate
The sad part is that Legends Arceus will likely not be as good as Stories 2 lmao
If it makes you feel any better, I got a monster that you fight in the demo before fighting the monster itself. It was through a rare den.

I played the demo for 2-3 hours and I was wondering if I was accidentally playing the full game with how engrossed I became in the world.
Edit:
Negatives: FPS doesn’t bother me as much and I probably glossed over a lot of those issues. The camera speed was a little hard to control but I got used to it being a bit slow at the start.
Positives: The game is charming, funny, and the art style is perfect. I am big fan of the English voices and I love the opening song at the beginning.
I just upped the camera sensitivity to the max and it felt better for me
Maxing the speed of the camera and the sensitivity is the FIRST THING I DID!
Back again. 15 hours into the demo and I've done everything I can, so now I'm just farming money haha
I cannot wait to immediately farm anjanath and max all that stuff out too.
I didn't get to play the first one, but I'm so unbelievably excited for this game!! It looks so fun, I haven't played an RPG in a while
You can buy it on the mobile store, im playing it atm

it's such a slight *slight* performance drop on switch, sure, you notice it, but it doesn't make the game unplayable, it doesn't lag, and it doesn't ruin the overall experience
here's hoping they manage to optimize it before it's releases, sure, but even if they don't quite get it running absolutely perfectly, it's still going to be an amazing game
Slight? My fps dropped to around 10 to 15 all the time and it was not pleasant :(
The performance drop actually did make the game unplayable for me and I assume more than a handful of others.
That is because stories 2 will actually be finished on launch
You're not alone. I had a lot of hype for Rise and even though it is still a great game, it falls short in a handful of areas.
The stories 2 demo had me feeling like a kid again while gaming and I cant wait for July 9th!

It runs alot smoother for me too. There's no lag nor frame drops unlike when I had it on the TV.

Ye.
How long (storywise) is this demo??
@@magirexx4663 id say hour and a half
So what your telling me is that the biggest issue of stories 2 (so far) is that its to ambitious for the switch to handle believe it or not stories 1 had the same issue on 3ds. Not with frames but more of a pop in problem when you went away from somewhere and the people would turn blue but when you walked up to them they were fine.
Yeah a switch pro would actually benefit from that
Idk, I wouldn’t say the game was too ambitious. For stories 1 that was the case for the poor 3ds but for stories 2 i think it’s just not optimized well. The switch should be able to run these visuals well. It’s not running too badly by any means and doesn’t matter anyways
At least we are getting a PC release this time around
All my Day 1 MHS1 players know what time it is when this drops.
I put in over 20 hours into this demo. I loved it so much! Can not wait for my copy to come in the mail in July.
It fixed almost all the problems I had with the original MH Stories
Played around 8h myself and got my Monsties and gear maxed out. Luving it.
Loved MHS1 already, so that doesn't come as a huge suprise. But i didn't expect to lvoe the new stuff that much. The new weapon types and their integration feels fantastic (especially the Bow), the Bottlecap Melyx is a great addition, so are the Everdens, the fact that you can automatically switch to the monstie with the ride action you need and I really enjoyed the battle buddies. Not to forget that it looks fantastic, I really dig the new art style.
I'm going to enjoy immersing myself in this game when it drops on pc. Have only heard good things.
Okay, I’m on board. You’ve convinced me
We can only play the demo so far, but damn... I love this game already!!
On the first run I was so thrilled that I immediately played through the story (as far as I can at the moment), but because I had a long ride ahead of me yesterday, I restarted again (with more exploring) 😂
The art design is refreshing to me - who only knows the last three parts of the series and has never played the first part of MHS.
I love games where you not only have to fight (and kill) monsters, but you can also become friends (and explore an 'unknown world') - so this game seems perfect for someone like me haha
The kind of (fight) animations, cutscenes and how cute the little monsters look after they hatch... I really like it ^^
And there are already three of my favorites in the game, even if you can only get two for your team at the moment. (Kulu and Pukei)
Even though the last few games have mostly disappointed me, I'm still a Pokémon fan at heart. That's why I was a bit skeptical at first because of the simplicity of the combat system, but I must say... I like it to.
Long story short - I pre-ordered the game yesterday and yes... I'm reaallly hyped 😂
And I have great hope and am curious to see how the story will continue.
Alright I'll give it a shot. I was curious about this game, but goddamn you basically have sold me on this already. Definitely gonna play the demo!
You should play the first one, there's callbacks from the first one (Navirou) for linking the Timeline, if you play this you can't even know what happened in the previous game and the background of some characters
@Drago Slayer
yeah, I've literally never completed it... that Kirin is impossible, and not only that one... those missions are extra hard mode
@Drago Slayer
Idk... for the level I think is better to 80, for the armour and the weapon maybe, not sure, but maybe the Ratha or the Seregios.
What I'm a bit sceptical about so far though, is two-fold:
1. the new skill system.
14:51 maximum "kinsect" gauge lol :D
I can't wait for the full game and your playthrough on twitch/youtube (hopefully you will also post that here as a playlist)
*Impatiently waiting for the next podcast to hear you guys talk more about it.*
After playing the demo, I immediately went and pre ordered the game. It was an instant hit for me.
From what I have played so far, they seem to have nerfed the Hunting Horn, as it is no longer activating effects on successive attacks. Then again, being able to spam Speed attacks to get healing every 2 turns in the first game may have been a bit too strong, so I would understand why.

The climbing is just the typical open world thing of "come back later" and going through the same area's again.
i think their will(hopefully) be a mix of buddy sections and solo sections.
The game is so good... Gamefreak can play MHS 2 and learn how to make a fantastic game
They have no will nor need to. The game is now basically a bi annual update to the character business platform and nothing more.
@God Slayer At least Dragon Ball gets some actual good games here and there..... like FighterZ. But that's the only actual good example 😂
10/10. So excited for the full release. I'm ok with Capcom doing all genres at this point. Give me monster hunter cooking. Monster hunter mmos. Monster hunter farming sims. I'm ready.
This game is phenomenal
Me too. I already have three Kulus, an Aptonoth, three Pukeis, two Kut-Kus, a Bulldrome and two Velocidromes.
Still need more.
So excited to play this... especially never playing the first one. This looks right up my alley.
This will have more content than Rise... crazy.
That said I'm hyped!
Loved the demo (completed it last night); now I wait for the 9th.
I know for a fact I'm getting Gammoth on my team; but I'm also hoping Agnaktor is ride-able this time around.
You know you're in for a treat when a *demo* alone is enough to keep you engaged for 8+ hours
I’ve never seen so many likes for a demo , how is it that good ? Haven’t played demo .
Can you get the Kamura Garb layered armor in the demo? I have a monster Hunter Rise save file
I'm enjoying this way more than I thought I would and now my wallet will cry
Yup can relate.
Wallet May Cry strikes again...
@@Hibernial indeed T_T
My credit card will cry 🤣 not only for this, also for Neo Twewy and next pokémon games

Wooow! And I have been waiting for Pokemon Archeus for game freak to finally create a game for the core fans. Capcom did it, absolutely LOVE this game! Counting the days until the release!
How you get the bottle caps for gun lance
Finished the demo today, my only complaint is the partner like your hunter partner and monster A.I, I wish it was a bit more intelligent when it comes to selecting its moves based on what type of monster your facing, other than that though the game was really fun, the combat was very interesting and fun to play, and I could definitely tell right away that the general loop of monster hunter is still there, which made me really happy as someone coming into this game from playing GenU, MH: World, and MH: Rise only.
I also had ALLOT of fun guessing what type of attacks a monster I was fighting was going to most likely favor, based on the attacks they would use in the normal MH games, it was so exciting when I’d actually guess it right.
how did you get that gunlance is that you have bc I have look in the blacksmith shop and have not found it
It makes me laugh because when the demo first came out, despite trying to grind as much as I could, I still ended up finishing it within like 10 hrs.
XD
Can we just get these guys to make pokemon from now on because this is how you make turn based combat fun
Can we scan non MHS2 amiibo in this demo? What item drops can we expect to get to use in game from scanning non MHS2 amiibo?
I'm almost 8 hours in now! It's amazing
The animations look nice.
Not enough hours. The game is that fun.
Ruri , i am SUPER HYPED!! for this game.
I played MHS1 and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think I cloked in 75hours, and have yet to end it.
This looks great. Time to go back to MHS1 to finish it before moving on to this one.
I love the art style too.
14:50 "...maximum kinsect gage poppin' off a wyvern fire..." now I want an Insect GunGlaive
I have 18 hours + btw i dident notice fram rate problems
Same but I didn't have mines on the TV so that's probably why
Are these Buttonmash sequences a frequent ocurrence? I have trouble with my wrist if I mash to often.
So I beat the demo and saved, am I just not able to play anymore?
Load up the auto save and avoid going into ratha’s den like the plague
Its very addictive. I played it throw and came back and farmed for no reason for the next 3 hours! Then I beat Anjanath again. Its very fun! I was a little sceptical at first but I bought it imediatly after playing.
Funny, took me 8 hours as well to play the demo, a lot of hours for a demo tbh, great experiance
Question tho.. it says on some menu UIs that you can have 6 monsties.. but why can i only bring 5?
Played and loved the demo I just hope they patch it so it runs smoother
I’m a little annoyed that they removed the attack patterns, but that’s it.
Wait till you face two kirins at once
I undock played it seem to be fine. Maybe on a bigger screen you can see the different of the frame dips.
@Pony Faced Dog Soldier that's exactly the reason. Docked mode for most if not all switch games upscale the resolution
I wonder if Monster hunter rise amiibo will be compatible with MH Stories 2
BTW if you make a bone s&s there is side quest down near the boats which gives you a skill scroll! Just found this
