- Installing 1TB NVMe SSD & Additional 2TB Hard Drive. Going to be upgrading memory in new Acer Aspire Desktop Computer. Model TC-885
Tools Used:
#0 Long Shank Phillips Screwdriver Magnetic tip
#2 Phillips Magnetic Bit in cordless screwdriver
New Parts Installed
ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD Gen3 x4
Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200rpm SATA HDD 256MB Cache 6MB/s
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB Memory Kit 2x8 2400MHz C16
Brilliant. A great run through the process in a clear, well-paced and easily understood commentary (even in Scotland). Thanks.
Thank you for this! I have the TC-875 model, and it comes with the 1TB WD Blue rotational hard drive instead of an SSD. Really dont see much about the 875 model for some reason. They say the 875 only has 2 SATA hook ups but mine has 3 like the 885. Anyways they all look the same on the inside from what I've seen, and your guide helps sooo much thank you! Gonna blow the roof of this thing! hahaha
This video is GOLD for me, and I assume people who just do minor upgrades.
Thank you so very much!
The heatsink exactly over the ram slot, that little edge covering that space only to make you difficult to upgrade, is somehow poetic. And obiouvsly they have left that slot free while they used the easiest one for the stock 8GB. It's like "hey, you should spend that 300$ more for a decent pc, we'll make you regret". Acer's worker aren't manufacturers, they are artists, philosophers, masters of life.
I have the ASPIRE TC-866 UR11 --older front bezel....a bear to get back on straight....I so appreciated your calm demonstration of how to upgrade this....Made it soooo much easier to venture into the unknown.....I have upgraded mine to 32 gb memory and put in a 1tb M.2 NVMe (that little screw wanted to get away from me) and your demo was so clear. Thanks for guys like you who are willing to share the knowledge!!❤👋
Thank you very much for your detailed explanations. I received my new Acer TC-1760-UA92 2 days ago. i wanted to transfer my 2 HD RAID and was concerned about being able to transfer it to the new desktop. My old computer, about 10 years old, was way too slow and I needed a new one. Luckily my old computer was a Gateway computer (I think they are owned by Acer) and I was able to transfer the card that came with the RAID, and even the 1TB HD from the old computer (I even reused the HD power cable). I am no computer expert and was very concerned about voiding the warranty, but your video and your information gave the confidence to try this. This plus a lot of luck and now I have a 1 TB internal and 1 TB external RAID. Thank you.
goodness. a video that perfectly describes the exact upgrades i need to make for my pc within the same time frame i need to make them. lucky me.
Great video. Would be nice if you did a similar upgrade for their new Aspire TC-895 which has a different motherboard and ITX power supply which doesn't seem to have many replacements.
Thank you! I've made a few upgrades to my TC-895 and your video has been especially helpful.
awesome video btw great to have it explained in detail as some people assume we know stuff and we don't lol.. good job
I just bought the i5 version of that computer and want to add hard drives from my old machine. Thank you. That was way easier than figuring it out for myself!
Awesome, glad it helped you. Dale
Just recently found your channel love the videos learned alot from a few videos .
I just bought one of these about 20 minutes ago mine has the core i5 and 12 gigs of RAM. I think I'm going to add a 2 TB mechanical hard drive to mine and I think that'll be it great video thank you
I have an Acer TC model and I wanted to upgrade my old HD. Thanks for this video
I just bought one like that. THANK YOU for the video!
I just upgraded to a I5 cpu, and a noctua cpu cooler and case fan, a 600w psu added another hdd and a geforce 1660 ti what a difference your video and others were a big help
Awesome job. Thanks for checking out my video. Dale
Cool to see how the new towers disassemble. Useful info!
Thank you for your knowledge. I have just ordered a new Acer tower today as my aging Acer has eventually given up. I can now instal some upgrades with confidence thanks to your advice. Best wishes from UK.
Thanks for this video. Definitely helped me with a few foibles with an Aspire TC-1760 (Core i5-12400). And, although you didn't have to go that far, I can tell you that if you ever need to upgrade the CPU cooler - the stock back plate should be able to be gently encouraged to detach itself from the motherboard with a flat head screwdriver to pull it from the adhesive strips Acer uses.
Good tip!
Thank you. I just boughht an Acer TC 895 UR11 and this will help me TONS!!!!!
Awesome video Dale many thanks for this it helped me out loads :)
Very helpful video. Glad I found it.
Thanks Dale.
Thanks for this. I have an older Acer but this helps. I will be putting in an ssd, the tower came with Windows 7 so I'm hoping I can use the key from that for a Windows 10 install.
Very helpful video. Thanks for posting !
Hi Dale, Great video! Thank you very much for making it.
I just purchased the Acer Aspire TC-895-UA91 Desktop, 10th Gen Intel Core i3-10100 4-Core Processor, 8GB 2666MHz DDR4, 512GB NVMe M.2 SSD, 8X DVD, 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6, USB 3.2 Type C, Windows 10 Home from Amazon for $425 for my mother and it will suit her needs perfectly. I've got a Nvidia 970 GPU lying around that I want to install along with an additional SSD, as well as adding more memory, just in case my gaming rig goes out for some reason. It's always good to have a backup.
My question to you is: Would a 500 Power Supply be sufficient, or should I get a 600 or even a 750? I want to make sure the CPU stays cool, so I'll be adding some fans as well.
Thanks :)
This is a great video, i thought inside the computer is very delicate, but seems like mechanic work lol
Very well done. Thanks.
Wish I found this video the moment I opened the case of my pc.
Hi great video easy to follow I am just changing my DVD player as is brocken swopping it out its made it a lot easier as I have an Acer mine not a gaming pc i7 pro with 12gb one ssd drive and older sata drive I think it's been a long time that messed about with PC desktop computers. May got some this wrong closes enough. I only mess about with raspi PC
Great job! What type of screws are in the back of the case of this PC?
I love this video as I have the 885 as well and will be getting the same upgrades you just installed in this video. Are there any other upgrades you can do to this model desktop? i.e. graphics or video card or power supply? not necessarily turning it into a gaming computer, but something a lil more fun.
1650 OC gddr5. Don't need to upgrade the PSU.
bet that was a nice change from all the laptops..
Immensely helpful video. Appreciate it.
Thanks for this video
Great video, but you should really consider getting rid of this carpet on your workbench to avoid Electrostatic discharge (ESD) when you move around the PC and the drives.
I'm about to install a 2.5" SSD into this same computer, where does the sata cable go for it? My SSD is not the slim style that you used.
thank you for the video. Very helpful. I recently purchased the Aspire TC-885 UA92, and was looking to add the hard drive from my previous computer to this machine. Got it in (again, thank you) but upon booting, I get stuck at the Acer splash screen. Something is up with the keyboard..I'm unable to access the Boot menu or BIOS settings. This only happens when the new hard drive is connected. Any suggestions?
Wasn't this unecessary upgrade ram and discspace, how about graphics?
i guess its integrated and shared memory? So a even lowend GPU would free ram and
hopefully boost graphics a bit?
I have a XC - 1660
11th gen i5 11400
8GB RAM
Intel HD 730 I think UHD was in there too
(Shared Ram)
Is it possible to put in a dedicated GPU of some sort?
Is power enough if the card even fits the PCI slot
Another person doing an upgrade had an issue with the computer not recognizing the ram (2666) and only showed it as 2133 on 3 different ram kits and 2400 on 1 other. Did u have a similar issue mate? I recently purchased a 4 month old i5-9400 acer nitro with a 1650 graphics card and was wanting to upgrade the system.
Great video! I just got one of these (i7 version).
I have a question, I tried to put my current SSD (windows 10) in and it wouldn't boot up, I got a blue screen with "Inaccessible Boot Device" error message!
What am I doing wrong?? or what have i missed?
Your using a m.2 nvme ssd, from a different computer?
We have this same computer. I did not realize it had a SSD in it. It makes a grinding noise when it first boots up. What can that be if there is no mechanical HD in it? Fan?
I seen an Acer Aspire XC XC-1660G-UW90 desktop within my price range can it be similarly upgraded
can you do these upgrades with a tower that is already set up and working?
hi, is the optical drive still usable or you sacrified the power connector for the secondary hard drive?
i have exacly the same computercase but with the smaler powersuply. how do i know how to get the right one to upgrade the power suply? cuz the suply in this video is so much bigger case than mine. do the cases follow if i buy and upgrade from 300w to a 500w powersuply?
just a question i have a tc885 with a HDD, and am thinking about buying a sata ssd. would there be any spare cables to connect the ssd (to clone the drive)? or will i have to just get an m.2 ssd
Looks like the one I got. Please can you help me. I got an update that I did not like and tried removing it. And it would not go away. So I tried resetting it and I think I factory reset it. Now the power button just blinks and I got nothing on my screen.
Nice
Hi, for the Acer Aspire tc 886 the procedure to install the ssd m.2 is the same? Thank You
Tell me which 8GB RAM memory is suitable for this model of the motherboard? I put Patriot PSD48G320081 - not compatible
Crucial has a simple selection tool since this is a prebuild that tells u what kind of modules are compatible.
What Sata cable did you use?
I would like to add an extra exhaust fan at the back. what dimensions would suit this. 80mm, 120mm fan?
If the memory is 3200 will the MB slow the memory down to its max speed?
I would like to install a SD card reader on a Acer aspire tc-1760-es14. The hole is there but not the reader. Has someone envers aspire you how?
PSU is 300 watts? How hard is it to upgrade to a 500w PSU for a dedicated GTX 1660 GPU?
Hi I installed a M.2 SSD, should I adjust any settings in BIOS? I was thinking of installing windows using USB and use it as my main drive
Hi. If you installed a new m.2 ssd. You dont need to do anything in bios. Boot from your USB install drive and do clean install. Dale
greetings, please explain to me how to start the system from a usb stick on this computer, because it doesn't allow me to boot with f12 ili da postavis video
Can you install a m.2 ssd into this? nvme? which generation?
Angebot bei Saturn für 2500€ ist der PC gut was meint ihr?

I can’t get my M.2 ssd yo boot. It doesn’t even pop up in the bios. I already cloned everything and I tried removing the HDD and boot it up but it basically said to install boot drive. Not sure what to do. Been trying to figure this out for 24 hrs
Sir can i use a ssd to my old desktop acer pc? That are not a NVme ssd?
Good!
My phone doesn't support nvme, what should I do? Acer Aspire tc-885
Can i upgrade the CPU from i3 9100 to i7 9700k

Mine has the 12gb ram can I update it?
hi, can you put a big ssd? is not these slim?

Hi. Just need a standard sata cable for hdd. Thx
@@CadillacComputerCenter Thanks very much! Appreciate you taking the time to upload the video and respond.
Would this work on the Acer aspire xc-830
Will that RAM fit into an Acer Aspire TC-895-UA91 Desktop, 10th Gen Intel Core i3?
Yes it will
@@CadillacComputerCenter Thanks a lot for your help!
Hey man need some help
How do you make the usb install? Could you link me the video. I've installed the ssd to the same one as you but it comes up with 'reboot and select proper boot'. Tried changing a few setting on bios but nothing working. Thanks
Sure, here it is.....

@@CadillacComputerCenter Thanks appreciate the help :)
Do you ship 8gb ddr4 2666 laptop ram sell and ship?
Install the heatsink... Trust me. I wasn't quiet sold till my bare drive died 3 weeks out of the pack. And was so hot itd burn my finger. I will be adding one of those c clamp style sinks to mine. I hope the customer didn't throw the heatsink away and was given it..... It'd be a clear sign to me something is amiss too. It should be installed. Also just noticed you added a hdd but didn't add a rear case fan...... If I ran a shop like this I would NEVER let a machine leave without a dedicated case fan to pull air over the hard drive. If they are adding this much storage they must be using it. And it will heat up. Adding a fan to the case may have made not using the SSD heatsink okay but I still do not personally agree. If it came in the box the mfg will ask if it was used in a warranty claim.
Good advise! I've just purchased the ACER Aspire TC-895-EB12, i5-10400 with a 256Gb SSD plus a 1Tb HDD. I was very surprised that it has no case fan, as it's the only computer I've every had that was without one. Cooler is always better. I'll be installing one, assuming that the board supports another fan.
@@chrisgraham2904 If it doesn't and has extra SATA power id just get a good quiet fan and run it off SATA power if the mobo doesn't support another fan. normally they do though. And yeah id add a rear case fan immediately.
please help me, I have the same computer that I need to boot the system, but it won't boot from the usb when I press f12, I can't boot the system
halooo
plis
After installing the ram mu CPU, the same model from the video I am receiving a long beeping sound. Any idea why? I am trying to update to Crucial 32GB Kit (16GBx2) DDR4 2666 MT/s (PC4-21300) DR X8 DIMM 288-Pin Memory - CT2K16G4DFD8266
Hi. Yes, remove the new ram, see if it works after that.
@@CadillacComputerCenter it works with the old ram
Well. I know you do not want to hear this, you need ddr4 2400. I've only used 2400 in these models. Intel recommends 2400 as well for this CPU.
@@CadillacComputerCenter Ok. Thanks so much for the help!
Why?
when i add ssd. it not show in disk management
Can u add a gtx 1650 to it
fancy in the front panel. ancinet gabage in the back end ew. Is that VGA? from on board graphics. They look fancy but they TRASH!
I did this and now the fan sounds louder. Is that normal?
Hmmm, I've never experienced that issue. Done tons of these. Dale
If you did clean install, make sure you get all windows updates and system drivers.
Too funny. I know next to nothing about the inside of a computer but I do know the Acer Aspire Desktop PC does not allow you in the Bios to enable XMP DOCP. There is no where you can change the setting. Therefore installing the RAM, Corsair Vengeance LPX on an Acer Aspire will only allow you to utilize 75% of the sticks capabilities. Really stupid to install these sticks on an Acer Aspire.
Can i add a gpu?
Yes you can. You will need to upgrade psu as well.
Great video but please stop hitting the customer's pc.
Sry, habit. I'll stop hitting them though. No harm done. Dale
It takes me 3 tries to plug in a USB too.
I upgraded the ram to 32gb and got a stronger graphics card a few years ago.
Please fix ur audio it’s single channel and not fun with headphones 👍🏽
Hi. Since this video, I have improved my audio and camera gear. Dale.
@@CadillacComputerCenter that’s wonderful 👍🏽
it doesnt even have a fan
You are not following the wise rules for protection from static electricity
Hi. Our bench tops are covered in anti static carpet, floors are treated with anti static protection as well . This is not an issue in our store. Thx
Realize how he has carpet on his table when he works on a PC *cringe*
I have discussed this in many of my other videos. All of our benchtops are covered with commercial anti static carpet. It nulls any static charge. Plus, we use a product called ACL staticide to treat our floors and work areas. I've been in business 25 years and have never had a single static discharge. Thx.
@@CadillacComputerCenter oh
@@rileymosqueda How's that carpet looking now mate eh
I want to install a ssd hard drive 250 GB. Do i need a specific ssd hard drive to be able to screw it in exactly like he does in the video? Place helt me someone.
And I dont have the power cables from power suply too. What do i do
