What is your setup, and what are you thinking of upgrading?
hey pc builder, im looking to buy a i5 12600k with an rtx 2070 super, aswell with a z690 motherboard, is that a good cpu and gpu combo for 1080p competitive settings in most games?
I have an 11700k + 3090 + 32GB 3600. I’m good for now. Not impressed with 4090 enough to upgrade. Will wait for independent tests + RDNA3 reviews.
My wife has an older 3600XT + RX580 and could use an upgrade. I’m liking the 5600X + 6650XT combo, as she has a 1440p monitor and her B450 board is still running strong.
@@jpzin4478 I've got all that except I'm using a 2080 super so I'd say that's fine
Make sure the cooling is good though 😅
It's fine but a little unbalanced. Sightly overkill CPU for that GPU for gaming. So you might go down in the CPU and up in the GPU if you can.
@@jpzin4478 For 1080, you're all set with that combo.
You've outdone yourself with this one. I don't think there's a tech channel that explains so much with so much clarity in a fraction of the time.
I'd call this "PC upgrading for dummies with Jason."
That's how clear and concise this is. Congratulations man. And congrats on reaching 200,000 subscribers!
Thank you so much for the amazing feedback! It means a ton to us. We will keep it up!
I don't know what you mean by "dummies" because I personally have a headache after this video and I'm 500x more confused than I was before even starting to watch it... so the right title should be "PC upgrading for savy users - the compact version" for whom all this info actually means something and is helpful. For the rest of us mortals, this is overwhelming at best and borderline mental breakdown at worst XD Not everyone is a gamer you know... some of us are graphic designers and just want to update our tech to work more comfortably.
Awesome guide, Jason. You've cracked the 200,000 mark! Very well deserved, sir :)
Thank you so much!! We really appreciate the support
This is exactly the video I’ve been needing. Best RUclips channel out there!
Looks like a lot of work here. Very informative. Congrats on 200k
Jason, another helpful guide. Thank you! Especially liked the pointer about slightly twisting the old CPU cooler when replacing to break the seal from the thermal paste so you don't pull out the AMD Ryzen chip -- which I've done before 🤓
Also, regards your SSD considerations at time marker 10:34, have you ever thought about doing a how-to guide for cloning when upgrading a SSD (NVME or SATA) system drive so we wouldn't have to do a complete reinstall of Windows on the new drive? There's other RUclips videos on this subject out there, but wondering if you may have a 'PC Builder' take on this particular upgrade.
Love your videos. You can easily see how much effort and dedication you put into them.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
Thank you so much for the great feedback. It means a lot to us. Hope you keep enjoying the content!!
Congrats on 200k subs!
Yes!!! Thank you!! More on that coming today!!
@@PCBuilderChannel Yeah! I wrote that you need 200k subs (because it looks better than 197) and You DID IT ❤️🍾🥂

Thanks
Thanks for keeping creators in mind for your guides!
You got it! (:
I’ve been thinking of upgrading for a while (I’ve had a prebuilt system for the past 5 years) I’ve already upgraded my ram and psu to prepare for the upgrades I’m going to make, but I think I’m gonna wait a little more for the 4000 series to come out in hopes that other gpu prices drop.
Just found your channel today and subscribed. Well deserved for the 200k subs!
One of the best guides I have ever seen, thanks for uploading!
So glad it was helpful!! Thank you for watching
Great Video!! I am getting ready to do my first build towards the end of the year. My Dell 8300, Intel i7-2600, 12GB and R9 380 are finally going to get put to rest. I was able to transplant my Dell system into newer Cooler Master case and upgrade my CPU cooler earlier this year. I am continually saving up for deals on BLACK FRIDAY and will be looking for CPU (Ryson 5 or 7), motherboard (B550), RAM (16GB), and (M.2 1 TB) hard drive. The GPU will have to wait for round 2 of the savings plan but I am hoping for a hand me down 1060 or 1660 in the meantime. I am excited to finally see how FarCry 6 and CyberPunk 2077 actually are supposed to run in 2023, and yes, they do run on my current system. :) Thanks for all your videos and keep them coming!!
Your videos have really been helping me with my PC build I'm working on.
That's great to hear! So glad we could help
With my i5-6402 and rx 480, I recently upgraded from 8 to 16 gigs of RAM with the help of your videos. In the coming months I’ll upgrade to a 12th or 13th (if soon) gen i5 with a 6600(ish) gpu.
Great video, and congratz on hitting 200K subscribers! I might consider a second NVME this year if prices continue to fall. The second M.2 slot on my motherboard is only Gen 2.0 but I don't think the performance penalty will be noticeable in everyday use.
Congrats for 200k subs now you have achived a mile stone 👍
Men i just finished my build and it came out awesome, your channel helped a lot to make it possible!
Fantastic! Congrats on your build and so glad w could help!!
You are an elite content creator, literally every single question I've had you answer and get directly to the point. Helped me find and build it and now upgrade. Thanks for the help!
We love to hear it! Congrats on the build and upgrade! If you build it, it will run :)
Great content Jason. Love your channel.
Thank you so much! So glad you are enjoying
Really nice for all the new parts coming out
We hoped it was good timing for people!
Thanks for all the details that you put on your videos
It helped me a lot.
Time to build an awesome PC 🙌🏼
Happy to help! Best of luck with your build!
Thank you being very educational when you talk. I’m not very good at computer components but you made it easier for me to understand!❤️
So glad it was helpful!
Congrats on 200k Jason!! Thanks for another great video!
Thank you so much!! Glad you enjoyed the video
Ah. Excellent. Exactly what I needed. Thank you.
Glad it helped! Thank you for watching!
Did not expect a Pitch Meeting reference but it was awesome
Congratulations on 200k can’t wait to see what the rest of this year has to offer ( and I’m upgrading my gpu I’m currently using a 960)
Thank you so much! And best wishes on your upgrade!
Yours is one the the channel's i have been watching with great interest. I'm hanging on waiting for black Friday deals to drop in the UK. I really want to build my own pc but with a small budget I may have to buy a pre built unit, as other channel's have these amazing gpu's in there builds but after checking there links the sums just don't add up. Anyway thanks for the videos, the straight talking and the basic facts. 🍺
So glad its helpful and wishing you the best for either a build or a prebuilt.
Excellent content as usual, Jason. Thanks!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed (:
I just bought a 6650 XT for $300 brand new! I should be getting it in a few days, I'm so excited and can't wait to start my first pc build! :)
Thanks bud. Building for the first time in 10 years and this is part of my research
Exciting! Glad we can help!
Good video to have, especially with so much new hardware coming out soon.
Yes! We thought this might be useful right now (:
You out did yourself in this one. With AMD AM4 CPUs and some X570 high tier boards dropping in price it's a great time to upgrade and get current.
This channel is actually insane, I built a PC right before the pandemic and literally still don’t know the first thing ab it. Super dope videos!
So glad we could help!
very informative, thank you Michael Keaton
haha! you're welcome (;
Thank you so much for this video! My son wants some upgrades to his gaming PC for his bday & I'm not the best when it comes to hardware. I really appreciate your guides!

Look forward to your new videos every week even if it has nothing to do with me. Enjoy the rest of your weekend
I said it he would get to the 200k subs! Congrats Jason you deserve it! Lets get to 300k mark now!
Also having a 5800x with a 3060 I really don’t need the upgrade right now maybe in 3 years or so lol.
Thank you so much! We really appreciate the support. And yes you are all set!
Another great video.
Would you consider doing a video on installing a dual boot linux partition?
I think many people would like to play around with linux and would find such a guide helpful
Thanks
I recently did upgrade thanks to you.

Cool I wasn't sure if my new pc build was up to date correctly... it is thx
Glad we could help!
Awesome Information. ThNks for another great video.
Thanks so much fellow Jason!
Hahaha Ambrosius steals the limelight!🤣 Congrats on 200k👍
That's what he does! (;
Thank you so much!
Congrats on 200k
Thank you so much! We are very grateful
Great video! Any beginner or intermediate builder should review this video when upgrading their systems. The only caveat I would make is if anyone wants to buy a 4070 series or higher NVIDIA graphics card would be to purchase an ATX 3.0 spec power supply with the appropriate wattage necessary for CPU and GPU combined max output. Seems there can be a fire risk(!?!) if using an old school ATX 2.0 spec PS. Cheers!
Thanks for the tip and glad you enjoyed!
As always very informative and nice video Jason! Thank you! I have an i9900k cpu and propably i ll buy one of the new gpu 4000/7000. Do i get any value in gaming performance if i upgrade cpu as well with one of the latest Intel/AMD?
Awesome video as always Jason! You are really helping us out pc enthusiasts with great content. Keep up the good work.. I have a question, maybe the audience can help me as well... I currently have 2 stics of 8gb each, ddr4 cl16. If I want to upgrade to 32gb should i add 2 more sticks of 8gb each for a total of 4 8gb sticks? or should i remove those 2 sticks and replace them with 2 16gb sticks ? I like how the mb looks when all 4 dimms are populated. But i heard that it can cause some issues ? I have a rog strix b550 mb and a ryzen 5 5600x. Thanks in advance ☺️
Same question here, ever find an answer?
I have OEM pre-build pc from dell inspiron 5680 (GTX 1070 - i7-8700) bought back in 2018 Christmas holidays it was on special. No problems what’s so ever with my pc. But it’s time for me to upgrade and build my first pc this year I wanna play newer games on very high settings I’m just waiting for everything new to come out very soon❤
Amazing video. Very informative
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching
Awesome vid... very informative and spot on ....

@@PCBuilderChannel Your welcome ...
Thank you! You and Mr Bear are working hard today too! 😸
Hi Valentina! Hope you are having a great weekend!
@@PCBuilderChannel Thank you! That's so nice! I hope you are having a great one too!! 😸
Hi Jason. Definitely waiting on next Gen Ryzen to come out for my next new PC build. Going to go with all Ryzen and AMD GPU , I’m tired of all the BS coming out of Nvidia right now and it’s time to make a change. As always love you videos and you da man. 🎉
Thank you!! Excited to see what AMD announce on November 3rd!
Nice video as always, I'm following all your video to build my old pc that actually has a i5-4450 and an RX 590, I want to keep the gpu, do you think that going for a ryzen 5600 would be the best choice to play at 1080p with a 144hz monitor? Or should I consider any other cpu now? Of course I'm talking for a limited budget
200k, good job, congrats!
Thank you so much!
Each time I google search a problem I always ended up with one of your videos, so you earned my sub Sir!
That's great to hear! Welcome to the channel and thanks for the sub
ALOHA Jason. Congrats on 200K! I can sit and watch your channel for hours. How do I submit a build for review. Thanks🤙
Aloha! Thank you so much and that's great to hear you are enjoying the content. Check out our Boost My Build series and keep an eye out for our community post where we will call for the lists. We also alert people its time to post on twitter @pcbuilderjason
great video as always
Thank you so much! So glad you are enjoying
Great video as always ! thank you so much!
But a small tip for anyone whose gonna upgrade to lets say Samsung SSD 980 PRO, Samsung is releasing the newer version (990 PRO) next month. wait for it because its amazing and it kinda the same price for the current version!
How are you not at 1M like DUDE YOU HELP OUT SO DAMN MUCH!!
We are growing fast and we sure appreciate the support! (:
If you plan to upgrade and manually tweak RAM on Ryzen system, get Samsung B-die ICs ram. tRFC can go to 300 range, while many other ICs stuck at 500+. tREFI is 12-15k on Ryzen and 65k on Intel, so tRFC is more important
Nice pitch meeting reference.
I’m sure it was super easy, barely an inconvenience to slide it in there.
Wow wow wow...wow
Very good.
hi, Mr. PC Builder. About the Reinstalling the chipset drivers, can you elaborate do or a demonstration how to do it? I don't want to mess up if I tried to do it. Thank you!!
I'm so happy to find this video, you made an amazing guide. thank you for the time you invest on making this videos. Very well appreciated.!!!!!!
We love to hear it, so glad that you found it! Hope you keep enjoying all the content! :)
Perfect video! My build was a Ryzen 5 3600 + GTX 1660 super. Upgraded to RTX 3070
Then found your video and got great tips (especially because it was the exact same build!)
Hi, looking to do the same potentially, did you see a big performance boost?
Congratulations brother!!
Thank you! Very excited to hit 200k (:
Thanks for this video, I have an i7 8700 and I'm really struggling to find a deal good enough to justify an upgrade that's as future proof as possible, or even good value tbh
After my gpu upgrade, I still get good performance at 1440p, but it's hard to know how much extra I'm leaving behind by not upgrading my cpu too
Could you make a video going more into depth on a motherboard and cpu upgrade. And do I need to reinstall windows on a usb and boot it up once I install the new motherboard and cpu?
I was lucky enough to buy a pre-built PC (the teen who owned it only had it for only 5 months but needed money for a car) for only $600. The specs are crazy for the price. Now i'm looking to upgrade.
nice!
Great video. I am after 5700g if prices come down and some more ram at 3600. Looking m2 ssd too. Gonna put fresh debian linux os on it.
Love your channel bro.
Awesome! Thanks for watching (:

Great video Jason but i ain’t upgrading I don’t build a gaming pc yet I will in October but it probably won’t be finished until January 2023 lol congrats on your 200K subs🎉
Thank you!!
Is an MSI PC an OEM or SI? Also, would you recommend them?
I have a prebuilt from Build Redeux with standard parts born from the covid days, desperation definitely cost me. I've spent a lot of time on your channel and wish your 5600x build existed those days. I bought a new monitor to play at 1440 but i wish it was a more comfortable and richer experience. So now im in this hole of what to upgrade. I've got the sinful Asus x570, Ryzen 5600x, 3060 ti, 16gb (8x2), M.2 NVMe 500gb, (expanding the memory is what started everything), PSU 600w.
More storage would be great for you. And you could drop in a 5800X3D (max possible upgrade with AM4) and then you can pair that with any GPU you like up to a 4090 in the future.
Hi Jason. What's a good GPU upgrade for a I5 9600k ? Currently have 1070, want to do 1440p gaming.
the value per second of this channel is probably unmatched by any other tech channel in entire world
Thank you so much! The feedback means a lot to us (:
Gonna upgrade everything soon, so I'm looking forward to your Ryzen 7000 video :)
Going to be lots of news coming in the next few weeks!
