Even though he got thrown out of a building. Joker still laughs in the face of death instead of screaming. You can't spell Legendary without Ledger. Greatest Joker ever.
Joker - "In their last moments, people show you who they really are"
Because in his mind he thought he corrupted batman to the point of killing him by throwing him off a building and if that happens the Joker won, batman broke his one rule.
That's possible becous of he never thought about death
@@dapankumar8158 He did, He legit says to batman ''HIT ME!!''

The way he swings that crow bar tho 😳.
@@TheMan-je5xq I think it's just a regular metal rod and not a crowbar.

@@TheMan-je5xq even the Hot Toys 1/4 scale TDK Joker has that rod.
I love how the joker actually put up a good fight instead of just running away and getting his henchmen to fight
Heath's Joker is honestly a really dangerous fighter in this movie. There are quite a few scenes that show just how deadly he can be so its no surprise he laid a beating on Batman for a while here.
You can tell by the way he walks he's a wounded man. All jokes aside he has that wounded veteran walk from shrapnel or gun shots to the leg
He easily overpowered anyone physically in the movie, who wasn't Batman himself. And he had to, or he wouldn't have lasted long. This Joker's physical prowess is often forgotten about, but its also essential for the character.
Well he did have 3 freaking big Rottweilers to help him out at first
@@sauronpwbr9283 you really can't blame him for that since he's the only live action movie joker that has beaten batman in a fistfight
That “You’re alone” line gets me every time. Batman is optimistic deep down, despite everything that’s happened to him. Best superhero ever.
Couldn't agree more! And Christian Bale is the best Batman ever for me.

“I think you and I are destined to do this forever.” From a lifelong Batman fan, this line still makes my hair stand on end. So chilling.
"This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. You truly are incorruptible, aren't you?" The entire exchange tells me Nolan completely got the mythology of Batman and Joker in this film, brilliant.
And it’s why every live action joker we’ve gotten since has paled so much in comparison. They got this right, so right. The dynamic between Batman and joker. This joker can’t be beat. And he’s truly a mad genius. Not some mentally ill incel, not some hacky gangster wannabe, not a young no-threat having pretentious loud mouth, this joker has a contingency plan for everything which puts him completely in control of every situation, effectively rendering him with god like abilities. He’s an unstoppable force through and through. No other liveaction joker has begun to capture this.
"...You see madness as we know it is like gravity, all it takes is a little push"
He was actually laughing while he was falling to his death because he won by making Batman kill him, NOT because people show you who they really are in their last moments.
A much of boths
Both?
@@hi12235 Yea it could be both due to the fact that the Joker is a complete sadist with no chance at redemption whatsoever.
I think so too, he briefly stops laughing when Batman catches him with the grappling hook.
It’s both
They absolutely nailed the joker's laugh as he's falling to his death. What makes it even more great is the Joker says "In their final moments people show you who they really are" - and what he thought were his final moments he was laughing hysterically.
Laughing maniacally because he thought he made Batman cross the line.
The dogs did more damage to him than all of jokers goons😂
They were hon-gree. Very hon-gree.
Almost relatable to Harleys dogs/hyenas that she uses
Understandable
@@Arronic those are hyenas
@@wwb16 just now realized that😩 well at least they are technically dogs to me
Did batman just kill the first dog?
Tbh I’ve never rlly looked at it this way but i got rlly sad that Heath’s Joker mentioned how he thought they were destined to do the dance forever but they never did :((
That's the entire premise behind their relationship, and Nolan was a genius to incorporate that into the script
Sometimes the person who knows us best is the one who's the complete opposite of us.
It’s almost as if heaths joker broke the 4th wall.
There will be new jokers and Batman’s in the future and they will fight eachother forever. Hell if humanity is still alive in 2100 and there’s a new joker and Batman then, then they truly are destined to do this forever.
Allegedly, had the passing of Heath been averted, nolan was game for 4 more entries. That line was intended to be part of an ongoing battle. But Chris' art of directing and the sadness of losing heath made him close this with a trilogy with TDKR.
@@regidio5083 have you got a source for that please? It sounds really interesting

"I think you and I are destined to do this forever."
While this obviously wasn't the intention, but that quote really breaks the 4th wall from a certain perspective. Batman and Joker truly are destined to fight forever, maybe not in that universe, but certainly in more continuities that have and haven't yet been written.
Who knows what would have been if Ledger didn't tragically pass away at 28. His death and the horrible rumors surrounding it still bother me. Obviously I didn't know the man but from every interview I've seen of him and every account I've ever heard about him, he sounds like he was a really decent person, extremely humble, hardworking and incredibly empathetic.
This dynamic between characters is 10/10
I like how you can hear in Heath's voice they were actually hanging him upside down for these shots, his voice has that thick blood-rushing-to-your-head sound to it.
Yeah watch this part 4:12

I like how Batman is the only one who doesn’t give a f about joker’s scars story and directly answers him with a badass quote before throwing him off the building. « No, but I know how you got these! » and « then you’re gonna love me! » are his best quotes in the movie in my opinion. The Batman and the joker from tdk go really well together.

This scene is one of the most deepest moments in movie history. An evil force could simply not comprehend the idea of self sacrifice; that all of those with the detenator would rather perish than harm others. The overall message is one of optimism and hope. Human beings are naturallt good, moral, ethicla creatures, and when the chips are down, the demonstrate their virtue.
And this is fundamentally something a lot of people including DC themselves neglected to see. Batman isn’t just dark, he’s a character who remains hopeful in spite of the negative. But Zack Snyder just has him mowing people down
@@laserbeamlightning yeah if you think about it his allies are what helped him stop his enemies gordon blowing up the bridge in begins this scene where we see the prisoner throw the device and catwoman returning to save him and the city
Eh, the fact that he had a detonator on himself to blow them himself if nothing happened would suggest he at least considered it might be possible that nobody would do it.
No. You have a lot of faith in your fellow man.
Humanity is darker than you realize. This is a MOVIE.
Plenty of real life examples of people sacrificing others to get ahead.

Also that was his last line before his laughing.
I can never stop smiling when I see him fall, yet laughing at death. It's aweing.
Joker best villain
That scene of the joker laughing as he was falling to his potential death was iconic. Heath Legend put 110% of his effort to nail his character
The dynamic between these two once in a generation actors is sooo perfect!!
I know some people might have trouble taking Bale 100% seriously cause of the voice thing, but I honestly think he's one of few actors on the planet who could fully match the intensity and immersion Ledger brought to the table and not get intimidated or thrown off by it.
I could've watched at least 3 more movies with these guys going at it, but I know that would make this one slightly less magical than it is.
We and Nolan were truly lucky to get this combination of lead actors for this, forever grateful
I heard Nolan messed with his voice a bit in post production, so the weird Batman growl wasn't entirely Bale's fault.
An unstoppable force meets an immovable object
It’s so obvious Nolan would have brought him back. His final scene wasn’t very “final” was it.
At 4:43 When I was little and heard of his death, I eerily thought he had died after that scene was shot.
RIP and long live the greatest Joker actor of all time.
Heath Ledger (April 4, 1979 - January 22, 2008), aged 28
You will always be remembered as a legend.
The joker brought a knife and a pipe to a Batman fight. I didn't realize he was stabbing with his right hand while using the pipe with his left .....brutal.
He was actually punching with a closed fist and the knife was retracted in his hand. Still pretty brutal for Batman though, because unlike the Joker, Batman does not have resistance to pain.
Everything batman says while pinned is so awesome. But genuine in a way. Also, I like how even when he's pinned and Joker has a detonator in his hand, he still gives a badass line. "But I know how you got these!" 😂 So good.
But this triology is the best batman series
Batman The Animated Series
Batman Beyond
And The Dark Knight trilogy
TDKS was bad in some points.
So far but The Batman is the best film. This one has the best villain but the Batman was the most well rounded. The Batman had a musical score and two cool villains that rivaled the Dark Knight. But the Batman wins because it had the best fight scenes, the best stunts, the best plot/story, that cool Catwoman side plot, and a better Batman.
@@brianhanes5413 No way is the Batman better than the dark Knight. Yeah it’s an awesome film but there’s no comparing it to this masterpiece. It has better fight scenes and I agree about the cat woman sub plot but the dark Knight has a better story and better villains there’s no topping Joker and two face.
@@gabrielberrios1306 Two face is alright. Not great. Penguin beats him by a mile as a side villain.
The laugh while falling is absolutely the best laugh of them all….insane
One of the greatest things about this scene is the subtle way that Batman beats Joker, if you think about it, Joker’s biggest form of power over people and the film is that he’s so unknown and mysterious, but in this scene, with Batman harming him physically and giving him new scars, he adds certainty to the joker, we know where he got THOSE scars from, this is a huge blow to the joker as part of his immense power is suddenly taken away via the audience and Batman now knowing something for certain about him

The Joker survived... But Ledger didn't. Everytime I watch this scene I see the potential the character could have had in TDKR if Ledger returned.

Not only is this Joker a mental challenge for Batman, he could even briefly gain the upper hand in a fight. Of course, Batman was momentarily blind from the malfunction of his sonar, but still impressive ...
@ASAP.69 True. In a straight up one on one fight Batman would've destroyed the Joker so he used attack dogs and a crowbar to level the field
@ASAP.69 Batman also has a suit of armor and would have been dead here without it. Joker has some tricks up his sleeve but Batman has many more weapons, so its never really a fair fight.
Joker punches faster, his speed would easily beat batman, btw it's scary enough that joker actually let batman beat him up in the prison and the whole fact it had 0 effect ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️ that's abnormal.
IDK why but 12 years later and i keep coming back to this
:Joker ''HA HA HA HA!! I-I DONT WANNA KILL YOU!!''
*Legit trys to stab him*
I like how the Joker has dogs guarding him instead of ppl.. that way the dogs can sense/smell Batman whereas w ppl they wouldn’t have seen HIM coming.
“The Dark Knight” is Literally the #1 Movie that I think of the Most when it comes to the Year 2008
Love how this scene showcases the two fighting styles. Batman is a master of martial arts who beats his enemies to a pulp. Joker, on the other hand, is a master of his surroundings. He can quickly use the elements against Batman (dogs, nets, etc.) to distract Batman long enough to get in some hard hits. Joker knows he can't beat him hand to hand, so he uses tricks and deception. This is why the fight is even between these two legendary characters.
Actually in the comic books, it says the Joker is a much stronger fighter and he has extreme pain resistance due to the long term exposure he had to toxic chemicals. Even in fist fights without weapons against Batman himself, the Joker could still win due to his aggression and unpredictability in his strikes. I think the Joker was going more for style and creativity for this fight rather than just boring old brawn.
@@ToughFighterGuy-ep3ti Even if the joker is a decent fighter he would never beat batman in a fair fist fight

And i wont kill you. Because you arr just too much fun. Love that line. R.i.p heath... you are missed but still exist in the movie world
If this scene doesn’t give you chills every time you watch it, you and I are on different wave lengths.
Joker was like beating the dog shit outta Batman
True. But obviously by fighting dirty and surprising Batman using attack dogs and a crowbar as an equalizer because Joker knew obviously he'd never stand a chance in a fair one on one fist fight or even attacking with weapons if he fought Batman head to head without Batman being attacked and held down by the Rottweiler dogs as well. Batman would've demolished the Joker easily hand to hand without weapons or head to head without surprise and the dogs. So Joker used the crowbar and dogs as an equalizer and beat Batman down royally. No rules in a real brawl. The Joker was no match straight up for Batman's martial arts training from the League of Shadows and fighting skills.
Regardless beat Batman down. The Joker (Ledger's portrayal of the Joker) had no technical hand to hand combat skills without knives and guns but was possibly an ex-soldier and war veteran suffering from PTSD evolved into psychosis and that'd explain the jokers close combat and weaponry experience and knowledge. The Joker at at most was a very good brawler hand to hand without knives and a gun against your average person or thugs and other ruthless killers but no match for Batman in a straight up fight. Took down Gambol's bodyguard in merely two seconds easily in the beginning with a grab and maneuver to shove his head onto a pencil right through his eye as a "magic trick."
Not because he's a better fight but solely because he had 3 dogs on his side, stealth, and a weapon. Batman is more skilled every fight. Joker has to use tactics and his mind every time he faces Batman like minors, tricks, and plots. But he's the best villain for this reason.
Bane is more of a physical challenge and would dominate the Joker. But there is nothing more to him. All he does is fight
Batman literally beats up Joker like 4 times in this film. But I've got to give Joker credit for still being the best villain despite always losing. Riddler was interesting in the new film because he never fights anyone head on but is 100 a threat because of his wits alone. Whereas Penguin is the funniest villain so far.
@@castortroy7704 Ehh, Batman was never seriously hurt. Bane and the Riddler's henchmen hurt Batman a lot more.

Fun Fact:At 2:43 That part of filming that's where Heath Ledger left filming and had someone else to voice joker because you can tell the voice difference.
There is an interesting moment here when the bombs don't go off. The joker subtly looks annoyed because it briefly shows him the truth of himself that he's not ahead of the curve-hes just an evil bastard.
I love how even though joker got thrown off the building Instead of screaming he was laughing doesn't care of his inevitable death which also resembles/correlates to his line "in their last moments people will show you who they really are" and joker showed us.
