This video on fixing the French door hinge is the ultimate, first class, highest quality instructional video I have ever seen. Photography, camera angle, lighting and clear speech illustrate every step of both disassembly and reassembly. Parts Dr has given me the confidence to order the part needed and take on the job. Undoubtedly saving me $150 !! The Doc could likely make a mint selling an instructional video on how to make videos !!!
Still works perfectly in 2024, because that part still breaks. It took me 5 minutes to do, including getting the proper tools... Money saved. Much appreciated.
thanks so much for this video. Was able to order and replace the tiny broken spring for the flap door of my Samsung fridge. Without this video I would never have been able, wouldn't even try. Cost me 10$ for the spring, other option was to change the entire flap door which is 100$ !!
Sincere THANKS for making this video. You SAVED us so much money and our French door actually works! We appreciate you taking the time to teach. Thank you very much.
In RF266, it is not required to open the last part. The spring is outside and can be carefully mounted Thanks for the full steps, it is very helpful. The removing of the electrical switch had a tough time, but then after giving a light press and pull, it separated.
Do you think the OEM french door flipper assembly (part #: DA97-12683B) will work with my Samsung RF266? Ours is RF266AEPN/XAA and has the spring on the outside as well. Not sure but I think the original part (DA97-07276E) is discontinued, which is why I'm asking. Thanks for the info!
I know this is an old video but just bought one of these marked down to $800 because “Door piece that slides into slot…broken at bottom…” Big box/Samsung “replaced French assembly”. I knew exactly what was wrong with it- just unclear how to take apart. Spring was out of hinge… that’s it. They also didn’t “replace” anything as there were broken tabs floating around in it. Thanks! You helped us save $1k (depending where you’re looking to buy this fridge).
I had that spring fail me within the first year, then again recently after maybe 8 years or so. Between that and an element going out on my Samsung stove, that's it for me with their appliances.
Great video and very clear directions to follow. Replacing the top flapper hinge was a 15 minute job. My only snag was that the wiring connector was hidden deep within the door and would not easily pull out for access with gentle tugs or steady pull on the wires. Rather than risk breaking something, I left the wires attached to the flapper and easily replaced the top hinge. It would have been more challenging I assume if it had been the bottom hinge requiring more disassembly. Thanks for your video!
Amazing video, straight to the point without the usual nonsense talk of RUclipsrs who likes to spice it up with too much drama. JOBE WELL DONE!! Of course I am subscriber
Used this video to fix uK model (RFG23UERS) - some minor differences between models; got the part from eSpares (£4.50) and fitted in 15 minutes - excellent stuff!
Great video and was very helpful but I needed the spring. Took me forever to find the part number then you didn't have it. For anyone coming here to watch the spring in the video is part DA61-08314A and seems to be discontinued but you can find them on amazon still as of March 2021.
According to Samsung part # DA61-08314A is not available and the spring is only sold as part of the french assembly. The ones sold on Amazon are aftermarket.
If the loop for the spring on the hinge is broken you can swap the opposite ends hinge! No new part needed on my samsung model. No back up left now though :)
great video, however i have a middle hinge on the mullion that is affixed to the fridge with only 1 x screw on the bottom (same as your fridge) yet where the screw in your video is at the top of the hinge, mine is a plastic mould protruding from where the screw should be (it looks like its manufactured intentionally like this). The plastic is the same material as that of the white plastic fridge door lining. When i remove bottom screw and attempt to pull the hinge away from the fridge, the hinge is firmly stuck I don't want to bust the hinge bracket either and cannot find a video or manual diagram that explains and shows this set up and how to safely remove the hinge. My fridge is model # SRF579DLS
Similar situation, expect both of my screws have what seems like plastic screw caps that are not budging. I have no idea how to take this door hinge off.
Very good clear video, I did replace the top hinge using it. However I need to replace the little spring loaded slider at the top of the bar. The neoprene guide that fits into the guide slot on the refrigerator to guide the mullion to shut and close the space between the two french doors. I called several parts people they say you cannot buy that and need to buy the entire mullion bar. Can you enlighten me on that.
Great question! On some Samsung model refrigerators the french spring is sold as a separate part and on others it is sold as part of the french assembly. On the refrigerator shown in the video, the spring is not sold as a separate serviceable part and it is only available as part of the french assembly.
@@smileygirlsteph The manufacturer does not sell the center hinge of the french assembly separately for your model. They only have it available as part of the French Assembly partsdr.com/part/da97-07661g-assy-french-nw2-fdr-10w-115v-thai-silver
Very good video, very clear. Thanks! Still have a question before buying the parts, I have a Samsung RF197ACRS/XAC but I am not sure what parts I need to buy: DA61-08305A or DA61-03230B. Please your help!
I have looked all over for a video but the top part of the flapper not the door hinge broke. Its the part that guides it to snap shut. any suggestions would be great.
While replacing the bottom hinge, which went smoothly thanks to this video, I found the center hinge is also cracked. Do you know the part number for the center hinge? Thanks
There are little caps or covers over the two screws that you show at the very beginning of the video. I can't figure out how to access the screws. Any tips?
Just did this to replace the bottom hinge and it all worked like a charm except 2 of the locking clips broke when I used the flat blade screw driver to pry at the points. Is this a pretty common occurrence? I by no means went wild weasel on these locking clips, I just used the minimum pressure required to release the clips and a couple of them still ended broken...
i have a samsung rf261beaeww/aa. the doors work fine but that little peice between the two doors doesnt close on it's own, will i need the parts to fix it? is it something simpler like spraying wd-40? if not is there a different hinge set i'll need?

Hi Robert, on most models the center hinge is not sold separately and is only available as part of the entire french assembly.
Where do I go to see how to repair the other side of the hinge component where it attaches to the door? Or, do I have to replace the entire door?
You would have to replace the entire door.
Thanks buddy! Good video! Samsung make bad fridges! I'll subscribe just for your algorithms... Appreciated!
Thank you!!!
what about the entire "swing partition"? what is that part number?
Is the top hinge suppose to be loose or tight like the bottom hinge ?
Normally, only one of the two hinges has a spring connected to it.

What is the piece that the French hinge slips on to?
The piece that remains on the actual door.

On my fridge, the hinge is in tact, but the other end on the "flap" is broken so i can put the spring. Any fixes/hacks there?
Usually if the top is broken, those parts are usually not serviceable and the french assembly must be replaced.
Does this part model works for RF18HFENBSG/US Samsung Fridge
