We've had the fridge for about 7 months and the problem started about a week ago when we changed out the glass color panel. After watching your video and inspecting our unit, I found that the initial shim that we used was awkwardly smooshed and widened/opened...weird. Anyway, I put in the new one (believe it or not, I actually still had the originals that came with the fridge safely stowed with the purchase paperwork!), and voila!! Perfection. Happy day! Very informative - yes indeed a brand new Samsung needed a shim for the flapper to close properly. Not the best advertisement for Samsung quality control.

You, Sir, are awesome to have created this video! Actually, I replaced the "paws" on the top after several other videos suggested that. Not a big cost lost, but while looking downward from the top, I was able to see that this flap not swinging closed was my problem, and a problem that has been going on for months. Great tip! I was looking at replacing the flipper for $155 + shipping + tax or removing the electronic control at the top and then the door to install one or more nylon washers like I have for other fridges, but this is much better. Thank you very much.

this was soooo helpful!!! i literally got an entirely new fridge (i saw this video after the fact) and the new fridge the doors arent level!! so i am trying to find out how to fix ti myself and boom after watching this i know exactly how to do it and will be getting the shims to balance it. thanks for this!

What a great video! It was simple, reasonably short and showed me how to fix the flipper mullion in my Samsung French Door refrigerator, which we bought a month ago. The informational material delivered with the refrigerator included four different sized inserts for adjusting the height of the door. The thinnest insert was sufficient. Your video (and the ensuing successful five mnute repair) made my day.

Wish this was my problem but my 4.5 year old was opening/closing the door and the little plastic piece that is supposed to catch came out of the top of the mullion so I can see the spring sitting there naked. Do you know if this is possible to put back properly. It’s quite difficult to do while assembled as I can get it lodged in properly.

I have been adjusting the feet height trying to level this door. It only works for a couple weeks and the flapper starts riding under that track again. These should be a more permanent fix. Thank you!

Fantastic, thank you sir! I wondered what those were for when I got the fridge a month ago, and I did point out to my wife that the left door seemed lower than the other. The flipper didn't open when you opened the left if right was already open, and then of course you couldn't close the left door if you shut the right first. I thought it was a "feature" so thanks for putting me out of my misery

Thank you so much. I knew there was a way to fix this issue. However, I couldn't find the spacers. I made them out of rubber washers which did the trick.

Thank you. Exactly what I was looking for. The Lowes delivery driver added two washers to align my doors. It worked, while he was here. The next day the two washers he added had that door too high. I learned from your video how to take them out, and took the two washers he put in out, and my door is level.

Thanks. I don't know what Sammy charged you for those shims, but I imagine you could do the same with a nylon washer with a segment clipped out. I've also seen the YT where the strike plate was lowered by adding a couple layers of double sided mounting tape.

Exactly the problem I am experiencing with my brand new Samsung refrigerator. I had it delivered on a Sunday, and by Monday discovered the problem. Of course, I went to both Lowe's and Samsung seeking advice and finally service, and am scheduled with a Samsung tech to fix it. I'd like my brand new $2K appliance to work correctly form the start. Of other note, the new refrigerator almost constantly is making noises of all kinds (but working).
While the shim maneuver may work, it is explained in the manual as being there to level the two doors. This would not even be an issue, if the white plastic extender that engages the top of the door, were simply longer, by say 1/4 inch. The gap is much larger, so why not make the tab that engages the flipper slot longer? Probably 1/100th of a cent more in cost to make it better to begin with.

What is the white flap on top that doesn’t in gauge in the track called?
Do you know the name or part number for the plastic tap on the top of the door flipper. Mine is broken and it does not flip like it should. When I close the door I have flip it myself.
I have a French door fridge that has a smaller door on the right side. For easy access to beverages and what not. Do you know where I could find smaller levelers?
I'm not sure. You may be able to google the model number and find them.
I'd like to ask another question.... we purchased the same samsung french door model. I need to know if I have to put the fridge in a location where I have to open the doors over 90° in order to pull the inner drawers open. In other words, can I put the refrigerator in a space that is up against a wall? Or will I NOT be able to get the inner veggie crisper / fruit drawers open? If you could provide me that answer, I'd be very appreciative.
You cannot put it right against the wall. The door will not open all the way. The handles on each door stick out 2 1/2" . We placed ours 3" from the wall and thought we would be fine because there is an open door into our pantry on the left of the fridge. However, there is a 1" bump-out for the ice and water depressor and its hits the door framing so we can barley get the icemaker tray out. I'd allow at lease 3"-4" from the wall.
Hi, thanks for the video. My problem is the top white piece that slides and controls the flapper broke snd fell off. Is the only fix a full mullion replacement.
I'm not sure if you can order just that piece and replace it or if the entire flapper assemble has to be replaced
When I searched for "da68 Samsung Cap-Guide French Door" I think I found the part. Try Google'ing that. You may have to replace the "da68" with your model number. Mine is DA68-xxxx

Ive got one of these pieces of crap and the fact that they have to shim the door shows they knew it was a piece of crap and sent those with the new buy. I've had to fix the spring in the same piece. This fridge is a piece of crap for sure they better never ask for my opinion on this thing cause it won't be good. Thanks for showing how to fix this broken junk.

What about if the flap stays open I have to push it in for it to close
I think it maybe the same issue. The groove in the top should both open and close the flap

Please help !! Bottom freezer door it stuck and won’t open after a deep cleaning. I noticed the seal is shut in the bottom but not as much on the top
It may be frozen shut. Open the top refrigerator doors and see if you can gently separate the seal. When you lift up on the freezer handle there are two tabs that assist in opening the freezer drawer. It may help to slip something flat, like a butter knife between the freezer drawer seal and the main body of the fridge. You can also use a hair dryer to warm the seal if its frozen shut.

If my door needs these could this be why my light in my Samsung fridge hasn’t been working
I don't think so. The light is controlled by a switch on each door. It is located at the top of the door in the center. I believe its a magnetic switch.
My right door was lower than the left. So I added one of these shims to even them out. It did accomplish that, but now the right door with the shim makes a clicking sound every time it is opened and closed. Anyone else experiencing this issue?
Make sure the shim is under the door hinge and in the correct was. It sounds like the shim may be turning when you open the door.
How do I replace the plastic piece on top of the flap?

What if my doors aren’t uneven but the top piece won’t catch and close?
You may want to check the position of the door flapper. Make sure it was installed in its proper location. You can still shim the door to make sure the flapper engages with the top slot, however it sounds like you will have uneven doors then. This may be a manufacturing defect.
