Oh good grief I don't know whether to laugh or wash my eyes out with soap 😂. You never cease to amuse, John, that's for sure! Your videos are wonderful, of the van lifers we watch you two are one of the VERY few who take the time to explain absolutely everything of your process and its been great inspiration for us as we look at potentially starting our own as massive novices.
Good luck with your Scandinavia trip but what’s on everyone’s mind; is the red bikini part of the merch plan? If we win the Karcher we definitely have a spot to bungee it in place.
From personal experience, when the temperature gets below -16 C to -20 C and beyond any exposed skin starts to suffer. It actually feels like it is getting burned. If you do run into problems in severe weather take your time to assess how to deal with it and don't rush out into extreme temperatures. Also pace yourself when you have to make any physical exertion. Jon is naturally hyper so he needs to calm himself. One item I did not see was Ski Goggles. Your eyelashes will freeze up and sun specs are a waste of time as they just fog up when you breathe out. When it gets below -25 C is when you can start throwing boiled water around to make it crystalise instantly. Make sure you have lots of water as it is habit forming.
You quickly became my favourite You Tubers after seeing you on the Vanlife page. Binged watched your van build and live my dreams through your adventures! Keep them coming 🗺️. You guys have me howling on a Saturday morning 😂 🩵
Merry Christmas Jon and Jess! My wife and I look forward to watching your new videos every Saturday morning - keep up the good work! We can't wait to see your adventurers in the arctic. Safe travels and have fun!
Well-done Jess for pointing out the offence of driving with snow on a vehicle. I was a full time carer for a wheelchair bound family member and we found down lined clothing 100% better than man made, have you put lagging around all the water pipes in the living area. As a 4x4 owner I would recommend you either get another set of snow chains or socks for the front wheels as it is all so very well and good being able to drive in snow but steering is just as important one thing after prolonged use check the wheel and tyres for damage the manufacturer of my vehicle states snow chains not recommended for alloy wheels. Sadly the screenwash I recommended to you is no longer made having contacted the manufacturer Comma they state that even though popular going down to -65c they decided to discontinue it. Please Jess take his lordship to the vets I was having some lunch when his dance routine in a bikini came up what a HORRIBLE SIGHT, sadly my cat is still not happy when she hears his lordship and disappears. You stay safe Jess any predators will take one look at his lordships pipe cleaner body and just burst out laughing. I have always carried torches in my vehicles one is three thousand lumin rechargeable C sized battery that can be changed for a standard battery also acts as a power bank if needed two smaller rechargeable ones also has a distress setting flashing the SOS code all have glass smashing capabilities (these two can either be recharged using mains 12v socket or the solar panel built in. They are not cheap plastic but heavy duty aluminium.
That’s a great point we should have mentioned about the torches we’ve bought too 💙 don’t sound as good as yours but they are really bright and rechargeable. Sorry for cat is still offended 😂 thanks ever so much for all your useful tips 💙💙
The educational content of your videos is second to none! Little John is flapping around! lol Seriously though. if you've got x3 batteries all need charging on top of all the little extras drawing on the electrical system. Is the existing alternator up to the job? It just made me think, especially if it's the original Sainsbury battery. Just a thought.
I’m hoping so 🤞 to be honest the second battery only has the pre heater connected and I think it only charges when the main battery is charged, I just thought it’s another fail safe 😁👍
You two are SO prepared!!! You reviewed quite a few areas I wouldn't have thought of. No doubt a lot of people will benefit from this video. Great job and entertaining, as always!!!!❤❤❤
What a fantastic channel you guys have made here. Just found you only last month, but this build has been a great series. I plan to go back and watch your other videos this week! Glad you guys loved it up here in Scotland.
With Jess showing us how to wrap up warm was great, with just one outfit that made her look like a Star Trek extra, and Jon with that bikini was a right laugh, looking forward to the next episodes.
Hi just watched you getting van ready for your trip up here in the far north .. in Scandinavia we use winter wiper blades . Stronger and better for snow and ice .. also its good to have sunglasses with a yellow tint as they are better in the dark and light while in the snow .. have a great journey.. 👍 its not too cold at the moment 😁any petrol station sells wiper blades ans sunglasses. Also there is a big store all over Scandinavia called Biltema. For bits n pieces.
You two are so good that when we watch other channels that we regularly follow, they are becoming a little lack luster! You make everything interesting and entertaining. Pitty you only produce one vid a week. We are now looking forward to your adventures in the Arctic! Cheers
I only discovered you recently on RUclips (when you first bought your Sainsbury van), and have very much enjoyed watching your videos and plan to do a big catchup on all your previous ones soon. I find them very refreshing, entertaining and surprisingly very educational. I have learned so much about motorhoming, preparation and tools (love your tech tips on them), and want to give you a big thank you. Have learned loads of tips and plan on making some of the accessories you have made, for my motorhome. Can't wait for you to start your trip Northwards. You should seriously consider doing a book on your trip and all the preparations you have done for it.
Good morning Jon and Jess I think you are both absolutely brilliant I love all of your content as Scotland was just majestic with the beautiful scenery, the great sense of humour between you both is what makes your videos Great, I have been following you for a while now, I always look forward to watching your videos as you are one of the best on RUclips! 😊🎅🏻🎄
pass me the eye bleach mrs santa !!!!! on your sand ladders (recovery boards) tie off paracord to one end with twice the length of your vehicle. When you put it under the driving wheels to get out, run the paracord outside the vehicle and tie off to the rear bumper, this means you can get out of the soft stuff and drive forward for a bit without having to walk ages to recover them, and it allows you the room to get onto harder stuff. Also keep your main tools, 10 14 21 mm in the cabin where they are warm, as you will find that they will shrink in the cold and give you sore knuckles. Plus your hand will not freeze to the metal. In the morning routine, fill up two thermos flasks with boiling water, so that you can have hot water immediately anytime during the day. On your wing mirrors tied off fluorescent ribbons trailing down, when you are driving they will flap up and clear the mirror of any ice or snow buildup. Saves you having to get out every half hour. On your roof, put a big red circle, if you break down your van will not be camouflaged from the air in the snow if you go missing. Lastly in your cab write your height and width in English and metric so you don't have bridge boo boos. Lastly on your auto box is a gearbox heater to get the automatic gear box oil to the right temp and viscosity when starting give it ten to warm up, this caught me out a couple of years ago. Also use the glow plugs when starting, a lot of diesel owners forget this.
Guys, what an awesome channel. Can’t wait to see what you get up to next. Jon looking good in Jess’s gear 😂. She has the patience of a saint. Merry Christmas to you both 🎅🏻
Absolutely love watching your videos. They are filled with great info and hilarious banter! I'm hoping to start a van conversion next year and had never considered an ex food delivery box van but now you've made me think. You've both done an amazing job of it. Looking forward to seeing your next trip. All the best.
Hi. We are converting a sainsbury van. Had it a month. 68 plate. Got it from peaks Trading Burnley. If u want one Best prices in UK. Owner Shawn great service comes with full mot and service delivered to Norfolk. Spot on tell hi David from Norfolk recommended u. Good luck. Best wishes David and Beverley Norfolk
Part of my Saturday morning routine, another great video. Finding myself eyeing up delivery van all the time now!!. Love the build and seriously considering one as our next van. Looking forward to following the adventure guys.😊
Recently found you guys on Insta and You tube, love your content and we’re slowly working through your back catalogue. Merry Christmas folks and can’t wait for the Arctic series😊🤙🚙🏴
My eyes, my eyes.....I cannot unsee John in that red number ! So funny though..... ! Merry Christmas to you both and all subscribers (who are still here !)
John, you say you two are useless RUclipsrs, but honestly this is the funniest and most natural videos I watch. Seriously Jess and John I look forward to Saturday morning! I know that sounds sad lol 😂. PS. would love the Karcher for me and the dog in my T6 campervan 😉😂
As always you guys are my top people, I genuinely cannot wait to see your next trip, every Saturday you're in my notifications and I watch you in bed just to boost my day. Honestly the most comical people I've seen on RUclips and I cannot wait to celebrate with you guys when you hit 1 million subs ❤ xxx
😂. Poor Jess!! Mrs Claus is quite the handful 😂 I actually learnt so much in today's episode. But mostly my take away is that I'm not keen on going anywhere colder than this here UK. 😂
As my grandad used to say…..Perfect planning prevents piss poor performance. Looking forward to watching the arctic adventure. Now, where’s my Karcher vac to suck up my tears of laughter!
Great kit but, you’ll need a better snow shovel than your plastic one! It won’t last a day in the temperatures you’ll be dealing with. An aluminium bladed snow shovel would be good but don’t try breaking up ice with it. An army surplus trenching tool is a must, it folds up and has a blade and pick, great for digging through compacted snow and clearing ice. I’m looking forward to next Saturdays instalment and good luck. All the best, Colin.
The camper is missing a name and some black adhesives to finish it off. Looking forward to the next trip… or just some more building. All is fun to watch. Thanks for the entertainment and joy !!
Is it only my husband… but every time there’s a ‘Tool Talk Tuesday’ he’s straight on the internet looking them up especially ones he’s never heard of! He’s currently looking at buying a mag drill! lol We love this channel and can not wait to watch your adventures in the Arctic! Also everytime we see a Sainsbury’s van we always have a giggle now!
@@truebluetravellers my husband’s garage collection was bad, but now it’s getting to Jon’s level! Haha Oh we definitely can share each other’s pain, I’m sure there’s more of us out there too!x
Jess dressing like Joey from Friends 😂 and Jon living the dream in the shed go on lad live your best life 😂 after that I need that window vac to wipe up the tears of laughter great video guys 🎉
Wow, some fantastic tips there even for winter in the UK. Instead of mittens consider motorcycle "lobster" gloves, a cross between a mitten and a glove, waterproof and warm. Can't wait to see your next adventure.
I could do with one of those window vacs to clean the coffee off our TV after spitting it out after seeing Jon wearing Jess’s underwear - priceless !! Loving your videos you two, have a safe and warm journey x
This has fast become favourite channel over the last few months, even the wife gets excited to watch these episodes with me. See you again next week J & J ✌️
I think Jon wearing Jess' gear should be the picture for your Christmas cards, surrounded by baubles of course. Love the channel and the high-jinx you both get up to (well Jon mainly).
Hello both, ohh, have you got a spare box of tissues, I was crying with laughter at the "pink undies" dance!! Ha-ha-ha!! The banter is great, but so is the practical advice given on maintainance of your vehical heating system and saving human body heat too, so important to keep the engine and human body "core" protected!! look forward to your next video!! Best wishes from Lincolnshire!!
It’s incredible, but I have to say allot harder than summer, we’ve only really noticed it a lot this week when we have got to -12’c before that it was still quite easy
sell bungees pal! another tip is the cars battery, id be swopping that for an heavy duty one, also you can get battery covers too, vauxhalls have them to keep the battery warm. So that could help you out in the cab. Plus a sun screen cover too, to help keep the cab warm too, over night.
You both absolutely destroyed me in this video I couldn't contain the laughter caused by Jon red suits you. Jess you're down to earth sensibility is in point.
Just wanted to say a big thank you both. Been in and out of hospital all weekend and I just watched 10 of your videos back to back to and it passed the time and was bloody interesting, funny and entertaining. New subscriber but already love you guys.
Oh my .......you are both so funny and your channel is fabulous.....look forward to it every week......loving the van build and can't wait to see the adventure in the Arctic. 😀👏😀🥶🥵
The content of your videos is a great mix of "how to", "what to" and great craic. You bounce off each other and make me smile. Have a great Christmas and look forward to the next adventure.
Been enjoying watching your videos since I found your channel on Saturday. It has been amazing to watch while I been recovering at home. Working as a Mechanic in Norway I have a tip for you for the "Jon" cover, they are a really useful piece of kit, but I would recommend to make it so you can adjust how much of the grill your covering to be able to arrange it to have the ideal temperature within the engine compartment. Love the Channel and I Love the banter
Brilliant! You are clearly well prepared! Since Japan is in the far east of Asia and much further south than the UK, lots of people don't realise that parts of Japan rival Northern Europe for coldness and snow. So a lot of the things you introduced and talked about are very familiar to me. Our diesel is also rated for cold weather in the winter months and winter tyres, or 'studless tyres' as they are called here are mandatory. Also, snow chains. You are absolutely right about trying them before you get into snow country. They are an incredible faff to take on or off and here in Japan, they cannot be used in longer tunnels on the expressways meaning that you have to pull into the snow chain fixing/removal area, take them off, drive through the tunnel and repeat the process in reverse order at the other end of the tunnel. Your hands hurt from the cold and what is easy at home in non-snow country suddenly becomes far more laborious and much slower. Since you have a camper van and it will be stocked with food anyway, my advice to anyone going into snow country in an ordinary vehicle should take emergency rations, water, something to relieve yourself into and an extra can of fuel and a warm blanket.
You guys are absolutely awesome and very inspiring for those wanting to join Van-life, me included. You really embrace the 7 P's when it comes to your vehicles and travel, Proper Planning and Preparation Prevent Piss Poor Performance.
Class as always. Never fail to amuse us, each one you make just gets better and better,, love you guys keep them coming . Have ur own TV show b4 you know it, 😂😂😂
So much stuff I’d never considered needing, not to mention the bits I didn’t need… guys, Mrs Clause just after a full English! 😂 Definitely the most entertaining overlanding channel 😊
I definitely think some ‘Tool Talk Tuesday’ merch would go down well. Maybe ‘TTT’ in large letters across the front of a sweatshirt, or something along those lines. I want a clean one though, I’m not into the dirty stuff.
Oh good grief I don't know whether to laugh or wash my eyes out with soap 😂. You never cease to amuse, John, that's for sure!

Wow, some fantastic tips there even for winter in the UK. Instead of mittens consider motorcycle "lobster" gloves, a cross between a mitten and a glove, waterproof and warm. Can't wait to see your next adventure.
Thanks Clive I’ll check them out 😁👍
Jess did a smashing job on the Jon cover. Looked smart as!!
😂😂😂 thanks Dan 😁
I could do with one of those window vacs to clean the coffee off our TV after spitting it out after seeing Jon wearing Jess’s underwear - priceless !!
Loving your videos you two, have a safe and warm journey x

This has fast become favourite channel over the last few months, even the wife gets excited to watch these episodes with me.
See you again next week J & J ✌️
Wow, thanks! That’s so lovely to hear 💙
I think Jon wearing Jess' gear should be the picture for your Christmas cards, surrounded by baubles of course. Love the channel and the high-jinx you both get up to (well Jon mainly).
😂😂😂 don’t think anyone would thank us for that 😂😂 thanks very much 💙
Hello both, ohh, have you got a spare box of tissues, I was crying with laughter at the "pink undies" dance!! Ha-ha-ha!! The banter is great, but so is the practical advice given on maintainance of your vehical heating system and saving human body heat too, so important to keep the engine and human body "core" protected!! look forward to your next video!! Best wishes from Lincolnshire!!
Thanks very much John, hope you have a good one mate 😁👍
van life would be a dream even in winter!
It’s incredible, but I have to say allot harder than summer, we’ve only really noticed it a lot this week when we have got to -12’c before that it was still quite easy
I cant ever unsee that, but fair play, red does suit you...🤣
😂😂😂 I know 😉😂
sell bungees pal! another tip is the cars battery, id be swopping that for an heavy duty one, also you can get battery covers too, vauxhalls have them to keep the battery warm. So that could help you out in the cab. Plus a sun screen cover too, to help keep the cab warm too, over night.
Thanks very much. We’ve already set off but will keep these in mind if we have any trouble 👍
Love it! My wife and I always enjoy watching the antics in your videos 😂
😂😂😂 thanks guys 😁👍
You both absolutely destroyed me in this video I couldn't contain the laughter caused by Jon red suits you. Jess you're down to earth sensibility is in point.

That little red number that John "the fashion guru" is dancing in fits him far to well !! Is it really one of his 😂
😂😂 you caught us
We use the reflective thermal sheets for all the windows in our van as well. It does a good job keeping the heat in and cold out. 🤔😃
That’s great to hear, thanks Lynn 😁

Don't forget the battery-powered shoe insoles, they work wonders. Keep happy.
Sound great thanks will have a look 👍
Been enjoying watching your videos since I found your channel on Saturday. It has been amazing to watch while I been recovering at home.
Working as a Mechanic in Norway I have a tip for you for the "Jon" cover, they are a really useful piece of kit, but I would recommend to make it so you can adjust how much of the grill your covering to be able to arrange it to have the ideal temperature within the engine compartment.
Love the Channel and I Love the banter
Thanks very much mate, yeah I think next time we will do something like that for sure 👍
I was not prepared. At least it matched the hat I guess? 😂 Jess you're a trooper.
😂😂😂😂 send help 🤦♀️
Brilliant bits of advice, love to hear things like this from people with real life experiences 😁👍
You guys are absolutely awesome and very inspiring for those wanting to join Van-life, me included. You really embrace the 7 P's when it comes to your vehicles and travel, Proper Planning and Preparation Prevent Piss Poor Performance.
Thanks very much James, love that saying, 7ps 👌

So much stuff I’d never considered needing, not to mention the bits I didn’t need… guys, Mrs Clause just after a full English! 😂 Definitely the most entertaining overlanding channel 😊
😂😂😂 Sorry for ruining your breakfast and damaging your bank balance 😂 thanks very much mate 👍
😂
I definitely think some ‘Tool Talk Tuesday’ merch would go down well.
Maybe ‘TTT’ in large letters across the front of a sweatshirt, or something along those lines.
I want a clean one though, I’m not into the dirty stuff.
😂😂😂😂 Jon can’t touch it then 🤦♀️😂
Great chanel from the vehicle build details, tool Tuesday, Jess's facts and Jon's banter, top lad, looking forward to future episodes
Thanks Andrew 😁👍
