Its called a dead blow hammer and its not designer to stop rebound its designed to create solid impact by providing forward inertia at Point of impact . Its looking good you're very tool savvy , welding skills are great now you need storage under that big box with some nice cover plates and painted to make it look good by streamliningit with cab and serve a purpose , perhaps ski gear or othe items when camping . Love the build so far 😊😊👍👍

I was a Sainsburys online manager, I drove these vans for years. The first ones had a foldable dividing wall. Love watching this build, has a sentimental value for me.
I have also spent about eight years driving these vans. Can l suggest you see about improving the windshield wipers performance in snow, as the snow accumulates and pushes the blades away from the windshield. Great build. Hopefully a pre Add blue engine.❤

Slowly catching up 🙂 Tip for those roof rack uprights, rather than cut them, stick them in the drill press and use a 25mm (or whatever size tubing you are using) hole saw to drill through them, gives you a really snug fit to weld up.
New viewer here but it's refreshing to watch a van build done properly! So many bullds just chuck a load of pallets at an old knacker, I doubt they would get through a weighbridge! You don't wanna carry spanners in the Def you'll come back to no panels 😂
Come on now, while a tool related show would be quite a thing, we all know it's just another veiled attempt to buy more tools. I'm not knocking you in any way, but I do see through ya! :) In all seriousness, I absolutely love the detail you go into for your tips and tools and materials you use. They're really helpful. I know it's not ideal, but maybe an idea (if it does become a problem) for mitigating any snow or rain with that walk-through door seal is something like a length of water pipe insulator, the foam type. If you cut it to length and pop it down over the seal between the cab and the back then it'll be flexible enough to account for temperature changes in the metal. Hope you see what I mean.

Hands down the best camper conversion I have followed. It helps having the tools, I did mine on a car park which is a Sprinter thats still going strong. I've been saying to other half about a box van conversion but she doesn't like the look of them. I am hoping this may change her mind. Keep up the good work.

Outstanding! I spent a couple of hours with paper and pencil 🤔trying to sort out a solution to putting some strength back into the cab and mating the accordion seal between box and cab. You've aced it beautifully. Well done both. God speed with the build.🙃 - Pete
Jon you need to get a track saw, Cordless Rivet Gun, due to the little terror. You could also do Snapon Sunday as well as Tool Talk Tuesday. Seriously the build is coming on incredibly well and in what is no time at all. Have you consider doing Van conversion professionally and the quality of the work you both do is superb.

in the states, we call those hammers "deadblow" because it stops dead when it hits. i had a steel headed ball-peen snapon like yours, 3 pound, but it hit like an 8 pounder because all of the energy went right into whatever i was hitting. fantastic little thing

Since the box is about as wide as the vans cab I would try and get the lower bit of a similar type III panel van sprinter to use as a skirt under the box to hide your (waste)water tanks and storage lockers under the floor of the box. It would really complete the very clean and professional look of the build...

I just recently found your channel and just in time for this build! I only wish you'd put links to certain items that you use, such as the windows, concertina seal and the door latches. Even if the vendor will not ship to my location, just knowing the brand names or the names of the brand would help immensely with finding similar items. That aside, your build is absolutely wonderful. What a good idea to use a Sainsbury's delivery van that is well insulated. It also has a very nice looking shape to it and not a flat roof which is a bonus! Especially if you were to visit an area with heavy snowfall as it is effectively standing water on a flat roof that can permeate the best of seals.

Driving those vans for years I've known the cab in some instances to move whilst driving and hit the box, so it may be worth considering a buffer of some sort to stop it from doing that, with you're doorway frame in-situ so it don't get crushed.

Yeah I tried that last time I made one and the hole saw kept breaking teeth, I might try it again but try it on a slower speed 👍

7:01 the light on the back isn’t a tail light or brake light, it come on when the rear step is down, to help unloading the crates during delivery. 👍

I just recently found your channel and just in time for this build! I only wish you'd put links to certain items that you use, such as the windows, concertina seal and the door latches. Even if the vendor will not ship to my location, just knowing the brand names or the names of the brand would help immensely with finding similar items. That aside, your build is absolutely wonderful. What a good idea to use a Sainsbury's delivery van that is well insulated. It also has a very nice looking shape to it and not a flat roof which is a bonus! Especially if you were to visit an area with heavy snowfall as it is effectively standing water on a flat roof that can permeate the best of seals.

Great video, but you are using the bending machine wrong, you should pull down to bend it’s easier not push up 😮
Cheers mate, yeah I tried it bending down but as I try to keep the length as long as possible to have as few welds as possible the tube it too long for me to get a 90 bending down 👍
Driving those vans for years I've known the cab in some instances to move whilst driving and hit the box, so it may be worth considering a buffer of some sort to stop it from doing that, with you're doorway frame in-situ so it don't get crushed.
