No joke, this would actually make for a really interesting WCA event. Obviously without the "can I beat Tymon" part, but just getting 1 hour to plan a solution, then executing it. You can basically use all the FMC techniques you could normally use, except the goal is not to get the fewest moves, it's to get the shortest potential time. Which is a combination of move count, finger tricks, regrips etc. And at the end there's always a chance you mess up and get a bad time just like in normal 3x3. So it's basically FMC and 3x3 combined and I love it.

I think it would be really cool if a sort of prepared scramble solve was a real wca competition. It seems like it could be interesting finding fast solutions using both fmc and regular strategies.
Never saw this content to be this good coming
3600 seconds of inspection and trying the solve over and over again, versus less than 15 seconds of inspection and solving it first try under pressure at a competition, and still beating the time you got at home... 🤔🤣😂 This truly was a humbling experience

Did it for about 15 min, got a 3.72 with the following solution:

31 moves, got it down to 3.43 after like 10 attempts, sub 3 worthy. there is a very similar solution which only alternates the last two pairs that gives backsune pll skip+no auf, might be better

Nice mix between FMC, CFOP and turning speed. Maybe there should be an event for 3x3 where you get an hour to prep your solutions (for an ao5 or something).

another difficult challenge sometimes is beating tymon using the SAME solution, I've done this before with these two solves:
