The Ferrari mid-engined V8 is almost 50 years old, and to celebrate this enduring legendary motor, Ferrari launched the F8 Tributo - what may just be the last non-hybrid V8 ever.
We’ve been wanting to get our hands on the F8 for a couple of years now - ever since we cancelled our deposit on one in favour of the Pista Spider - and now it’s time to finally drive it, thanks to CarGuys viewer, Vincent.
Is it too fast for the road? Is it just a rebodied Pista? How does it drive at beans speed on the road? Has the interior been improved at all? Do all the nostalgic touches make it a fitting tribute to 50 years of Ferrari V8s? Let’s find out.
Drive Every Ferrari is a series within the main TheCarGuys.tv channel, which aims to get behind the wheel of every Ferrari road car from the company’s origins right up to present day. It’s going to be extremely tough to get them all, but with your help, we’ll get there.
If you have a Ferrari that hasn’t been covered yet, please get in touch and see if your car can be the star of a future episode. Email: Damian@thecarguys.tv

Having driven an F8 Tributo around Varano Race Track in Italy, and for a day around the hills around Maranello, I was amazed at how user friendly the car was.. considering it will do over 210 miles per hour, and 0-60 in under 3 seconds, the car is just so comfortable and usable. I own an original Fibreglass 308 GTB as well as a few other classic Ferrari’s, I absolutely loved driving the F8 Tributo. The rear screen is just so cool, Ferrari have really dialed in some cool features on this car. I heard one with a Novitec exhaust and it just screams!!! It’s a shame that the EU regulators need Ferrari to make the engine note quiet. Easily rectified with a different exhaust and no way does it harm the experience.. from the few hundred miles that I’ve driven one of these , I am totally hooked.. it looks cool, it goes like stink, and it handles superbly. They are bloody rare too.. there are less F8’s in the UK than there are 488 Pistas...

I'm loving this series - the commentary that you're adding, even the smallest details that are in the category of "the collector market thinks [this] about this car" or "the interior is basically the same as..." adds so much more than just "check the Wikipedia article."
Because we are on the internet, I'll point out that your history of the V8 Ferraris missed the (no-number-in-the-model-name) GTB/GTS Turbo variants of the 328 which were the follow-on for the Italian market 208 GTS/GTB and have little NACA ducts on their rocker panels. Smiley-face.
I only recently discovered they even existed, so I'm very proud of sharing this model info, which is really just the answer to Ferrari trivia questions.
Great videos! I look forward to every upload in this series.

My only dislike on driving it is a very minor one. The steering is great but it does not offer the feel as in some older hydraulic systems. For example think back to the 987.2 Boxster Spyder you and you mate made a video of. Curious if you agree?

As ALWAYS, another GREAT, (because of the honest content and camera work,) video. Thank You.
I am alongside you in that not too far away, we will all be driving ‘green’ or electric cars and eating flowers for supper and wearing hemp clothes. Jesus...pity the coming day.
I wonder if you plan on driving a Ferrari 400, a 412, a 208, and every version of the much maligned Mondial line, from the, ‘8’ to the Mondial T with a Valeo clutch. One of my Ferrari’s is a US spec. Mondial 3.2, and I would be curious to hear and see what you think. The Ferrari community has always looked down its collective noses at the cars I have listed, especially the lowly Mondials.
Keep up the Great work, Sir!

Thanks for your entertaining and honest review. I agree that the steering wheel has more than it should but it's been like that since the 458. At least now the horn is where it should be, and it's still nice to have the audio controls right behind the wheel. The newer wheels on the 296 and SF90 are truly awful in comparison. Aesthetically, I'm not a fan of the front facia of this car. It looks like an angry catfish. The sound could be better but that's the tradeoff with having turbos and the performance that comes with them. Cheers!

Everything becomes second nature once you drive it on a regular basis and not having to remove my hands from the wheel when I am driving is amazing and more safe in my opinion. Another fantastic video Damian. The F8 is a fine car but to me (and my goodness these things are subjective) it just highlights how drop dead gorgeous the 488 Pista is. Ferrari’s in house team knocked it out of the park with the styling on the Pista and haven’t managed to match it since - not even with the SF90 or 296 GTB (in my humble opinion). Oh, and yes the 458 is gorgeous too. The 458 and the Pista are the two best looking Ferrari’s this side of the millennium.

Tough decisions! I still think I’d have to go with the iconic 488 Pista over the F8, but… I think I’d want either a 458 or an F12 to really get the Ferrari experience.

    2:43 your stats are incorrect. It's not a 2.9l V8...it's a 3.9l V8.....

drove a friends from Hove to Wales. amazing car, but just way too fast for the road. you will barely scratch the surface unless you take it on a track. love the colour here. thx!

I don’t think an aftermarket exhaust on a car like this is that simple. According to my amateur understanding. The GPF filter with its ECU connection. The car might become illegal also which has all kinds of warranty and insurance issues. I don’t understand how Lamborghini can still make a car that sounds like a super car and Ferrari is so so far away from that. N/A V10 vs turbo V8, not expecting it to be the same, bit still, such a gap, such a bummer, as the F8 is gorgeous. And if the turbo noise is actually annoying, wow, 200+k car and it’s that annoying. Not expecting perfection but those are really turn-offs

Interesting comparisons of both the regular and hot versions of Ferrari V12 and V8 engine cars that you have owned and driven in this series. I can forgive the lack of Watch Guy Content at the moment, as this quality of production is not a 5 minute job. 5711 on the wrist?.

The Coupe is also a lot more rigid than the Spider... when you comment about it feeling “lighter, more precise” than your Pista Spider, it could well be because of the fixed roof.. I drove the F8 Tributo, and the F8 Spider. The Spider has a LOT of flex, so the coupe feels much better to drive.. really enjoyed the review.. anyone who wants noise just needs an aftermarket exhaust, it will scream then..

It could be, but I’m pretty sure you want to hear my immediate impressions as they come to me. If I have to caveat everything it’s going to get pretty annoying pretty quickly.

But you seem bothered by the rear mirror , it's a ferrari there will never be anything in your rear mirror, well not large enough to make it out..
Thanks this series is well good. 👀😎
