Interesting. However, in the last few years I learned (from J Kenji Alt-Lopez who cooked over a thousand eggs to figure this out)- the best way to cook eggs in the shell is by steaming. I use a trivet in a pot, but you can use a steamer. Once you know how your stove performs, you can get soft-to-hard cooked eggs in 3-10 (usually 5-10 for large eggs) minutes. No need to do anything else. And they peel perfectly over 95% of the time (he tested that too). I let them sit out of the fridge for an hour or two before cooking (but that is just me).
Steam eggs for 13 minutes for perfectly cooked eggs for deviled eggs. Cool in ice water for 20 min. Age or temperature of the eggs doesn't matter. I take brand new, right out of the fridge eggs.
Dude, great tips... Imma try this right now. But unless you play classical guitar or harp or some-such, I really wish your fingernails were less than three inches long while filming this.
LOL, and yeah ... I noticed that after the fact (sorry if it grosses anyone out). The issue is because of Neuropathy, I have to let them go longer than the average person in order to trim them myself due to lack of dexterity. It sucks, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
@@TheRickRatedShow Rock on, man. Yeah that has to be hard to deal with. Maybe just acknowledge it right off the top so people understand... otherwise, dickheads like me are gonna assume you're just doing all the coke bumps you can get your hands on hahah edit to this comment. You did mention the neuropathy right off the top of the vid. My bad. But as far as your nails, no judgment, just thinking if you point out the nails before the close up, people will understand. just being an ass and offering tough love. Cheers!

The age of the eggs also a factor. Fresh eggs don't peel as easy.
Interesting. As Johnny Carson would say, "I did not know that!"

Pps. Literally the best hard-boiled eggs I've ever made. My gf went to culinary school and she's gonna be pissed I can do this hahaha
