NA Subaru Impreza Muffler Delete (NON UEL)

Getting my full exhaust with UEL's soon so thought I would cut off the muffler to see what it would sound like. It doesn't sound too bad, doesn't drone, gets good pops on downshifts. I wish I would've done this earlier, makes the car a lot more fun!

I've been trying to decide whether or not to cut the muffler off my n/a wagon for so long but couldn't find a video of someone that just cut it off like I planned to do. Lol. Sounds decent I'm going for it 😂

Alex Gentry I’d reckon a prodrive exhaust if you want a loud stock type sound. My dads friend has a blobeye Impreza prodrive and it sounds 👌🏻

I did it with a wagon i took everything off except for the last one with the exhaust sensors (mine has 2 cats i think) and i stg sounds like a diesel tractor

thinking about doing this but without going UEL. I've heard multiple time UEL headers make you lose power. Is it worth it?

Minimal amount of power might be lost but unnoticeable. Worth it for the sound, get that true subie rumble with uel

Ypu should get a simple remap after, will gain more power after cutting it, if ypu map ot for a aftermarket exhaust, so a stage 2 should be fine but a stage 1 wil increase too

probably late lol, but remove it from the flange, drive around town for a bit, if you dont like it get a axle or catback, if you do then just get a tip and go to a muffler shop to get it welded

Just get a highflow muffler, most exhaust shops will have them cheap as

really late to this as well, but I recently just chopped my muffler off of my NA impreza and it doesn’t have any rattle or rasp to it at all it’s just a clean deep tone, and there’s some drone but not enough to overpower your music at half volume

Subarus tend to run rich. Just unburnt fuel. Some do it stock some don’t. Just depends on your car and how well it is running

Update: Did it myself. Sound much better in person as compared to this video. I did mine on a 03 2.5ts. Much deeper in person. Although I believe my year has an el header, it is still fairly rumbly.

For an even better sound though, putting a simple glass pack on the end sounds even better! Quotes it down just a bit but it rumbles much more and sounds way better!

A really uneducated comment. He/she can several other things such as slap a td04 on it, swap in a wrx motor or even a jdm motor, OR install a uel and it will sound just as good if they don't need the added performance. Pretty useless to just say get rid of the embarrassing impreza and get a wrx when they are literally the same exact car, no reason to pay more for an overpriced WR recked since most of em are clapped anyways
