Has to be about the cleanest, most detailed rpm range of the difference between the two. Great video!!! I prefer the uel but mostly for the low rpm rumble. Used to live in Marquette, Mi, and it's something you hear every day. There are so many Subarus running around up there, some are riced out but most are done nicely. A lot of STI's too.
Yeah, I'm on here every night. There's some good videos for background noise to help me sleep. And I also have little use for FB these days besides Marketplace.
engine displacement doesn't affect tone. I used to own a 1.6l EJ with UEL headers and a 2.25 exhaust and it sounded exactly like this car, both with equal and unequal headers
Man that is the exact sound I want. I have a question, I am looking at buying this N/A 2.0L G4 impreza. I know I need the uel headers, and some exhaust adjustments such as muffler and cat. But can anyone tell me if I can get a similar or "justified" sound out of a non turbo? I don't care about speed, I just want a car that looks and sounds nice, not loud but GOOD. And without the added expenses of a turbo. Is it possible?
Yes it will still have a rumble with the UEL. Ive built 4 wrxs. Only thing you will not have is the spool of the turbo. But you will be ready to rumble just that easy take off the EL headers and slap them UEL and good to go if need any other questions let me know. Email me. Keithabriggs82@gmail.com
Corndog 113 you know a Subaru isn’t fast when it rumbles. If a STi pulls up next to you will EL headers, good chance he’s pumping out north of 500 whp on a built engine...
@@sleeper.simulant7327 Not really, a lot of people change to EL headers for sound and vice versa, if you're stock it really doesn't make any difference and if you believe it does, then you played yourself. Hence why subaru made the "compromise" for space. Subaru's were never built for big power, they were built to handle.
Just bought a 2.5L outback last night for $2700.00. came with a manual and ken wood stereo. Will my outback sound this bad ass? Gonna do a rumble muffler from AutoZone....
I know this is the unpopular opinion, but the engineering truth is that the rumble is only there because UEL headers cause a resonant "beating" with the exhaust fumes, which is inherently restrictive and you lose HP. EL headers to me sound much tighter and more efficient, because it is. I prefer the sound of an efficient exhaust system, and you get a bit more power out of EL headers. Also the notion that the "Subaru rumble" is unique only to Subarus is straight up false, any car with UEL headers will have the same beating resonance, same rumble. Every engine sounds different, but a Subaru with UEL headers is going to have the same rumble as any other car with UEL headers. Case in point ruclips.net/video/C3ymGy4qXPE/видео.html&ab_channel=DESCustoms
" the notion that the "Subaru rumble" is unique only to Subarus is straight up false" No it's not, Subaru is the only manufacturer to put UEL headers on their car from factory. Saying oh you can just make UEL headers for a honda is missing the point. UEL headers are unique to subaru simply due to the fact the subaru come FACTORY with them. And its a trademark of their older models
@sumic251 Mazda has some cars that come factory with unequal length headers. Alot of older v8 muscle cars used unequal length headers, and some ford's still use them.
Kenny J EL’s will make 25 whp and 50 more lb ft of torque over UEL’s, you can advance timing more with EL’s. EL’s are just a smarter option, why risk cracking ringlands due to heat buildup when it completely avoidable? UEL=rice. Don’t be a ricer. Put EL’s on, enjoy the better response
I like how NA impreza still has THAT sound, no matter if turbo or not... 🤘
I freaking love the sound of a UEL header so much.

Cameron Woodward sounds like rice to me. Hurting performance, efficiency and reliability for sound, literally the definition of rice...

Music to my ears man, enough to make a grown man cry 🥲
sounds like a 2.5 even with stock headers mine doesn't have that much of a rumble I'm jealous
been told an intake really helps. not 100% certain since I don't have either for my car yet. just what I've been told
sliscotti86 intake don't help at all just better mpg
sliscotti86 i put a cold airr intake on a sentra 1.8...
It helps. My sentra engine IS NOT a beast of power. But it sounds marginally more interesting.
An air intake would add some nice induction nice

I cannot wait to rumble... this is THE sound i love
I just got mine installed today, so happy 😁
Any cel?
It's weird hearing a Subbie without UEL headers, that distinct UEL sound has become what is expected from a Subaru boxer engine.
uel is the way to go no rumble no deal
EZ30 Lovers: Are you sure about that?
Mr.L.A. Only slow Subaru’s rumble. A fast STi has EL’s, better performance all the way around.
Makes me smile...
UEL yeah, but...in this video i like both. Maybe im getting old...

How many HP will lose the car with unequal length headers ?
Might lose at most 5-10 hp but you gain low end torque.

is it a wrx catback? haven't found a 2.2 cutback in 3"

They are stock headers
What does the hole on the end of the exhaust do?
That style muffler comes with a baffle insert that screws together right there

How to make flat-plane crankshaft 4-cyl engines sound better. UEL Headers.
Or proper intakes/throttle bodies
was that with the original header?
Whats the exhaust setup? size piping?
