+mudder300 Sorry for the late reply. The motor was torn down completely with every part out. The block was deglazed, the deck was milled 0.020", crankshaft was polished, ACL race bearings, ARP rod bolts, Nippon rings, new oil pump, heads were milled 0.015", multi angle valve job, TWE custom ground cams (stage 3), titanium valve train, ARP head bolts, STI head gasket, Perrin light weight crank pulley, Group N engine/trans mounts. It hasn't been on the dyno but my guess is that it makes 220hp at the crank. The engine was built to handle abuse not necessarily for big power.

I knew I was going to spend around $3k, but you already did it, and I was wondering what that would be, if you don't mind. I have a 3in catback straight pipe, but yours sounds hella fuckin' awesome. I have recently had another head gasket start leaking so it will be getting pulled apart again. This time it is getting TWE high compression forged pistons (11.5:1), rods, EJ255 block, stand alone ECU and water meth injection. I am hoping for 300hp at the crank.
+Jr That's awesome! I calculated around 3k with your list, minus a few things, so yeah I'd guess around 4k. is an ej255 block better? I'd have the means of getting my dad's 255 shortblock if that's suggested. Whose pistons/rods would you be looking into? I was thinking Manley rods, but don't know much after that.

I've been afraid to build it because cost vs benefit but this Forester sounds AMAZING! A local shop here in St Louis said it would cost about $6-7k for my STI to achieve 450whp though so I may have to go with that.

+OGTripleTriple Yikes! I wonder if you could buy a set of UEL for a different model subaru and have a muffler shop modify it to fit. That would be way cheaper if it is an option. I am not completely familiar with your engine setup and what would have to be altered. A good muffler shop would have no problem doing that.
Emma Priestner 2.5in is the diameter I'm sure cause but you don't wanna got any bigger either for non turbo applications you'll loose a lot of power but 2.25 or 2.5in
Is that the Tsudo 2.5" catback? Was the cost around 300 for the catback? I'm looking at getting a whole new exhaust system and Tsudo is looking like a solid option
What was the compression of this build you have done i just built a special ej251 with 11:1 but havent put in yet just curious as to what to expect compared to yours

+NozzyTheFox The quality is decent for a header of this price. I have been running them for about 5 years now and I did have to weld a crack at the aft flange. It was an easy fix and they are still going strong. No rust as all so far but I live in a warm climate and the car does not see salty roads.

It looks like you left the left hanger off. Is that on purpose for the fitment? Because mine rubs up against the bumper.

Hey SubieFan20, I haven't done the math to figure out exactly what my compression is but my guess is around 10-10.5:1. 11:1 will be nice!
