    I have basically the same setup using DNA UEL header and exhaust on a 2001 Subaru Outback Limited SUS (Sedan) which has the EJ251. Had to do a small modification to the header to make it fit correctly, but it was very easy to get done.. and would definitely do it again.
    Anyone else out there looking for a similar setup, do it man.. pretty awesome results for non-turbo apps

    I have a similar setup on my 07 2.5i, but I'm using a 9 inch dynomax race bullet muffler, no resonator and stock single cat from an 04 impreza. I also disabled any cat/o2 related code using ECU flash so no CEL at all lol

    Jose, I did this for my 06 2.5i as well. CEL came on once in a while because of the High Flow cats, if you run stock 02-05 2.5rs cats you won't get the CEL but if you run the High Flow then you're going to need the O2 cat simulator piece( bigdaddiesgarage.com/ ) that website sells the part pretty cheap, I installed it on my High Flow and never got the CEL again. It happens because the High Flow Cat does not get hot enough to burn the excess exhaust enough, so the part that simulates the Cat heats up and the O2 reads that it is hot enough, so you won't be running the engine on RICH all the time when the CEL is on. But yeah, if the Tsudo system is too expensive then just run the 98-05 2.5rs UEL headers, catalytic converters and extend the 06-07 O2 sensors. I still have the 2.5i but I also have a 05 2.5rs with a Borla Uel headers, random cat high flow cat and nVidia 3" cat back exhaust and an Injen CAI, all I have left to do is take it in for a tune, get as much as I can out of it.
    I have been told that the O2 simulator part works on straight pipes too, I never tried it, but I read up on people with Mustangs, Camaro's and Corvette's running them just fine.

    • @silver_trek_AWD
      @silver_trek_AWD  7 лет назад

      yea i wanted to bolt up an oem catalytic from an 02-05 rs but they are very expensive $200-250. Well i have a simulator that came with the high flow cat but doesn't have the cones like design inside. I have the simulator on the second o2 sensor that is towards the back i wonder if it makes a difference if i place it on the first one? Also thanks i might buy one of these.

      I am currently having the same issue with my setup, my setup is catless with tsudo headers, I have an o2 spacer but it’s not the design that has the cat simulator, when you ran the cat simulator it fixed your issue?

    • @silver_trek_AWD

      IamNeil aRon No problem bro! I'm currently on you got me at a good time. Unfortunately you need the tsudo high flow cat if you skip to 2:48-59 see that bend your straight pipe won't fit, unless you ask a shop to make a bend for you on the straight pipe. Although I recommend getting the high flow cat because it's stainless better flow and sound you'd get from it.

    i know this is a pretty old video and topic but i just bought my own 2009 impreza hatch 2.5i na.. i bought some used cheap uel headers which look pretty much like borlas.. the thing is the uel headers i got is catless and i've seen online that without the first cat the o2 sensor will read the air/fuel wrong, turn on the CEL and mess up my gas mileage.. there is a bung for the o2 sensor at the end of the headers right before the flange.. could i cut out the cat from my original headers and solder in at the end of the flange after the o2 sensor? or does the cat have to be before the o2 sensor? Also, i've seen everywhere online that it's recomended to wrap the exhaust and get the o2 spaced out.. which i still don't know what it means... any help will be aprecciated! I just want that sweet rumble but no CEL or any other problems!

    Yo bro so I have the eBay headers wrapped and tsudo high flow cat with the tsudo cat Busch but one thing that is bugging me is the the front sway bar is hitting the wrap where the three pipes are next to each other and since my subie is leaking oil it fall on the the sway bar and since it’s touching the headers the oil that falls on it then goes onto heat wrap so it soaks up and starts burning. Yeah I have a fire extinguisher in my car a prettt big one just to be extra say Incase it catches on fire. So my question is, is that is there a hump over the exhaust on the sway bar where the headers are under it

    Been doing a lot of research on this matter, and I'm still a little confused. I have an 07 2.5i, and I would like to get UEL headers. So, with the 97-05 headers, they will bolt right up on an 07? And after the headers, I also need a high flow cat because the one cat is removed in the OEM headers, correct? Then after the cat, any cat-back exhaust for a 97-05 Impreza will work? Or could I use my stock exhaust? As for the O2 sensors, don't they both need to be after your cat because the original one was removed in the headers? Would love some clarification if possible. Really want to do this mod and want to do it right. Thanks in advance.

      Hey. Watched your second video. So, would I be able to purchase the 97-05 headers and bolt them up directly to the existing '07 2.5i stock exhaust? My main goal here is to achieve the subie rumble. The headers is what unlocks that, but I want to avoid all kinds of CEL's after the install. Have you experienced any CEL's? Eventually will end up purchasing an axle-back as well. Thanks in advance again.

    • @silver_trek_AWD
      @silver_trek_AWD  7 лет назад

      TheDiamondOreo yeah as you've seen it will bolt right up! So you shouldn't have a problem on that part. As long as you buy the tsudo high flow cat to bolt right up after the headers to obviously have somewhere to put the o2 sensors, you should be fine with all that. As for running it with your stock exhaust I would say it wouldn't sounds good, there's so much air now flowing. It's best to run a 2.5" exhaust piping vs stock 2.25" which is small. I'd recommend wrapping the headers to maintain heat that's running inside otherwise they cool down and the o2 sensor wont read correctly. Then that's when you have "CEL" problems, I've not yet wrapped mine and with outside temperatures at 114° my "CEL" for a o2 hasn't came back on like it did during cold days so before winter comes I'm going to wrap them.

    • @anthonyf.8336
      @anthonyf.8336 7 лет назад +1

      So basically, I need the headers, a high flow cat to bolt up to the headers, and any catback exhaust for a 97-05 Impreza to bolt up to the cat? I should NOT buy an exhaust for a 06-07 Impreza, correct? If I take all of that to an exhaust shop they can do some custom fabbing to connect the catback to the cat and I should be all set? Also wrap the headers and the cat to avoid check engine lights. Thanks for the replies Jose!

    • @silver_trek_AWD
      @silver_trek_AWD  7 лет назад

      TheDiamondOreo TheDiamondOreo yes you'll need the headers and high flow cat and any catback will do. If you go to 4:16 sec of the video it my mid-pipe/resonator 3" That's also a part you'd want to get a resonator 2.5" or 3".

      Austin Tatum mine is a 07 Impreza and I managed to get the uel headers from a 97- 05 Impreza to fit. It was said that uel aren't made for the 06-07 impreza's. This was just a cheaper way buying eBay uel headers for around $100 and a high flowcat for $160 from tsudo.

    • @silver_trek_AWD

      The front catalytic converters that are on your stock headers basically are eliminated. When I bought my Subaru the previous owner had a straight mid pipe installed which eliminated the catalytic converter in the middle. So I basically ran no cats .

      CyberFas You won't lose power if you get UEL headers. What you're seeing is, if you have an aftermarket UEL header and an aftermarket EL header, the EL will give you more, just no subie rumble. But either way aftermarket headers give you a few extra HP. (from experience) 😜

    • @silver_trek_AWD
      @silver_trek_AWD  7 лет назад

      Speed Limit what parts of the exhaust are you talking about or wanting to keep on with the headers? Although it won't sound good I can tell you that it's too much air flow for the stock piping. That it will sound very raspy.

    • @jhonyflores56
      @jhonyflores56 7 лет назад +1

      jose Perez right now I have mid pipe exhaust it's a hks exhaust from a wrx. I don't know if I will need to add more pipe to fit the headers correctly?

    • @silver_trek_AWD
      @silver_trek_AWD  7 лет назад

      Speed Limit I'm sure it's a 3" correct? Well on the video skip to 2:46 that catalytic converter or test-pipe whatever you want to call it is what you'll need. So you will then need to add more piping like I did.

    • @YangkuzaCreations
      @YangkuzaCreations 7 лет назад +1

      If you have the UEL headers, all you need is the catalytic converter section from a 02-05 2.5rs either High Flow, OEM or Straight Pipe and it would bolt up to your stock exhaust, but IMO the system sounds better with the stock STi exhaust axle back unless you want to cut and extend the mid pipe for the STi to meet the NA cat.

      will any ebay wrx 2005 uel headers work as far as bolting on to the engine work? I know you will have to custom fit it on to the rest of the exhaust. did you have to custom make a piece to fit your high flow cat? or did you not have to and was this because of the high flow cat you had? and do you need a high flow cat? what does it do to benefit the exhaust setup? I saw a another video where the guy just bought what looked like headers and a muffler and just custom did everything to fit. So can I just do the same? and as far as the 02 sensor goes he said he extended it to after the second cat to keep the computer happy. what made you go the route you did? also why did you rap your high flow cat but not the headers? sorry for all the questions. Im just trying to fully understand before I pull the trigger on buying stuff to achieve the subie rumble. i just wanna make sure i can get everything I need to achieve the rumble and still pass emissions

    • @silver_trek_AWD
      @silver_trek_AWD  7 лет назад +1

      Ryan Coke Buying an actual WRX header required a lot of work which needed cutting and welding and, I don't have a welder. Although it does bolt up. If you do go for it. An exhaust shop in my area charged a lot of $$$ to modify. No custom work was don't to bolt the high flow cat you'll see why I needed it if you look at your stock set up. My set up was the same so you'll need the high flow cat. I went with this catalytic converter because it's stainless steel better flow and reasonably priced. The o2 sensors watch this video ruclips.net/video/6reNfUh1FGA/видео.html I explained how I ran mine. I wrapped the high flow cat because it was easier to wrap I didn't want to unbolt the headers. I first passed my emissions before I did this I suggest you do the same.✌️
