Me too! This thing was driving me nuts this year because the bib valve on top of it froze and started spewing water. I had no idea that the whole thing could be rotated, depressed, and removed. Thanks!
I have installed 1” quick coupler on my baseball field. When I have it turned on, if I try to unplug it has too much pressure and the whole system unscrews instead of quick coupler disconnecting. I have to run out and turn off main water line and then release pressure before I can unplug my hose. Any thoughts?
Hey man I have worked on golf courses for years and we use quick couplers for hand watering. When you're dealing with a stubborn one I've found it helpful to twist the key while putting slight downward pressure with your other palm on the head of the key. Remember also that when you're turning a quick coupler off you need to make sure your hose is open so that the quick coupler isn't under pressure. Also, for some extra security backfill the hole with heavy soil and compact it as best you can so that when you open the box all you can see is the very top of the quick coupler. Hope this helps!
I have a quick coupler valve that stays open when I remove the key. It's only two years old; can I fix it or get it unstuck, or am I likely to need to replace it? I don't want to leave the key in all the time, but it is like a geyser when I take it out!
You probably should replace the valve. You might be able to reach into the valve with a screwdriver and wiggle the valve around enough to get it to seat temporarily.
hello Kerry I enjoyed this video ...quick question on preparing a slope for mulch thus far I have weed barrier but how do you keep the mulch from sliding...thank you is there somthing you put on top of the barrier
It's a challenge to keep mulch on landscape barrier on a steep slope. I've had some luck installing the mulch a little thicker and starting at the bottom of the slope when installing. It will still migrate down over time.
Great video! Just curious, was there a reason you didn't use a 3/4" threaded male pvc fitting into the (metal) quick connect valve? That would avoid threading a metal male fitting into a plastic female fitting, which is susceptible to splitting apart.
PVC male and female adapters are notorious for splitting and cracking when threaded into or onto brass or galvanized fittings. I had to learn this the hard way. At some point I needed to transition from metal to plastic so I used the 1" x 3/4" SxT bushing. The bushing glued into the slip tee makes that transition point a lot stronger and not as likely to split or crack.
Thanks for the informative video. I have a couple of older quick connect valves in my yard and had no idea what they were for. Now I know!
Thanks Donald for watching.

valve key seems a bit too short.
Nice. thankyou
Welcome 😊
Thanks for the video. Where did you get the plastic spacers?
Spacers are landscaping edging I cut into short pieces.
Thanks for the info!
