I love he brought up the hammer from warframe. That game is full of crazy weapons; ranged and melee. Hell, there's a couple melee weapons with guns built into them
As for the Warframe weapons, their thought process was "we have 386,729 Melee Weapons AND a custom Melee Weapon mechanic, so they need to be unique and identifiable, but also in theme with its military of origin"
On the case of that particular flaming sword one thing to bear in mind is it comes from a post-apocalyptic raider filled wasteland where the average person is a lot crazier and more dangerous than normal. So I'll make the argument that the flaming part of it in reality wouldn't really do anything to help you would act as an intimidation factor for someone trying to do something like rob a caravan in a hockey mask.
Another argument is that a sword is supposed to cut, but they don’t slice clean through, they would actually get stuck in body parts, also the sword would be heated giving it the effect of throwing a piece of bacon on a hot grill
fire blades, actually the fire would heat up the blade. you ever graze yourself on the top of the oven? you dont have to hold it there to burn you dude. burns happen extremely fast at high heats and metal that is engulfed at all times in fire wouls be constantly searing. not only if you cut would it cauterize the wounds but if you grze them you burn them. the issue is due to being so hot thw blade will be maliable and have basically no durability and need to be constantly repaired and sharped.
@@twilightsparkle75 Depends. If it’s a blade made of a metal with a melting point higher than 1200C°. I don’t think that would be a problem iirc a normal fire is 940C°. Therefore i would surmise it is a miniscule loss of durability
I mean the whole point of the Shishkebab is 3 step process The blade grazes and opens a wound The oil enters the wound and sticks The fire catches the oil and burns
Judging by the fallout 4 shishkebab's design being a wakizashi with these mechanisms on it, it was probably made with the incendiary portion in mind, at least, in-game anyway
I think the slayer's nice little knife gadget would be extremely powerful. Assuming it's made out of extremely high end materials like the praetor suit, it would be extremely powerful. And in the games Glory kills it's also proven to be extremely Sharp. This thing could chop through man, his best friend, his dog, a tin can, and still make Julian fries.
Judging from an irl standpoint, I think it would suffer the same issue all collapsible bladed weapons do, which is you're essentially trading structural integrity for compactness, since the lower parts of the blade has to be hollow to allow such a mechanism to work. That makes the blade weaker and more prone to snapping the more segments there are in it. Not to mention whatever holds the blade from collapsing prematurely has to be strong to allow stabbing with it, which we see the slayer does.
1st weapon: regenerates, melts by hot/fire weapons (in this case, flamethrowers and the flame sword) 2nd weapon: the heat can make it easier to chop through things, also if it gets stuck in a giant creature, burn it. 3rd: emergency use I guess 4: clown hammer haha
@@user-Insane_Ails True but it’s made to kill them slow he uses it to rip the hearts out of mancubus and make them eat it so I assumed it was meant to prolong suffering
The "flame sword" could still work as a sword, by having a sharp enough blade as well as the blade being heated this could possibly make it easier to cut through skin as well as it being able to cause a serious infection due to the element of burning, when someone gets burned and blisted your body has difficulty fighting bacteria not to mention that the burn skin (if heated enough) will be dead and decompose causing an even worse infection. Known as staph infections being the worse and hardest to recover from. In a way the heated blade can be one hell of a weapon not because of its cutting capability but because of the fact if the person gets away or you leave then with a wound it may not heal and maybe just kill them anyway because of the burnt flesh of the person themselves. (I'm not a scientist nor a doctor but I have had my fair share of patching myself up... so not all of my words maybe completely factual but they are true enough with some experience to some degree)
Pre-med student here, that's good enough Otherwise it could also go for pain because burning can be one of the most painful things to experience, it should also depend on the intensity of the flame, otherwise it still would incapacitate the person.
Heating metal makes it soft both in the long term and even more so while it's still hot. Keeping metal hot will make it eventually to soft to hold an edge.
metalworking student here, using a heated weapon only in desesperate self defense is still as ridiculous as it is immoral, a flaming sword is impossible to use due to the extreme temperature you'll need and the lenght of the handle, the only weapon that would work while having a heated tip to thousand degrees would be a long pair of tongs or a 2meters long steel bar with a heated tip on one side, bare in mind it is a concept only too impractical and far too cruel to be a thing any of us will ever see
For the flaming sword I think the point of it is really to just have it get hot enough to the point of it needing minimal or no effort when slashing through targets
The flaming sword wasn’t nessicarilly meant for that, think of cutting through something with a 1000 degree knife(we’ve all seen those videos) it would cut through at extreme heat and you would feel it almost instantly

The Spycicle instantly turns its victim into an ICE STATUE and instantly dissolves the moment fire touches you, but makes you fireproof for a moment after that.
I don't know for certain but I'd imagine a more beneficial form of the shishkebab would be instead of a sword it's in the form of a pike or spear that way you get a further range on your weapon while also having two different defensive deterrents one being the polearm's lenth and second being the gout of flame coming out of it
I think, taking in consideration that Doom Guy literally has been to hell and back, that thing is mounted not only securely, it's pretty much a part of his body now
The thing about the shishkabab is that the blade is coated in gasoline, meaning it probably would still be a useful sword, as the gasoline would still catch fire on your body after the blade hits you.
Another thing about a flaming sword is that a benefit of a normal sword's clean cut is the bleeding it'll cause. But, even if you use the flaming sword normally, and not ideally, the fire will at least partially cauterize the wound, stopping part of the bleeding and weakening the effectiveness even more.
If flaming shows on issue because it takes a long time for things to catch fire then how about taser swords electrified swords you hear me out normal sword except you attach a bunch of tasers to it, and have them running up and down the length of the blade connected to wires the electricity now whenever your opponent blocks, your tack in that instant, electricity is transferred through there, enter through your blade into theirs, giving them a shock put like a tasers in the hilt and run copper wires against the blades and this way. Also, if you get a hit on them in like there’s leg now they’re also seizing up meeting there on the ground in a very vulnerable position.
Everybody talking about the flaming sword, but do they even realize the absurdness of the Spy from a videogame called Team Fortress 2 uses a *ICYCLE* to backstab people
A flame sword wouldn’t need to cause “flame damage” , if it’s constantly on fire it’s constantly heated so by the time you cut through someone it’s super heated steel
Swords already cut clean why weigh it down why spend the time making it it would serve zero purpose as well as the same problem with fire it would still need to be held there sword cuts are instant it would do jack shit
Surprised Marcus talked about one of Warframe's hammer skins and not the wolf sledge which is a hammer that is used as not only a normal hammer but a throwing weapon too
Depends how the flaming effect has been produced. If its liquid it can "splash" towards you opponent when they block your strike. Also binding is less fun when your knuckles are roasting if you dont have proper gloves.
When you think about it, the shishkabob is really counterproductive. As you said, a quick attack isn't going to catch them on fire, so realistically, all the fire would do is make the blade hot. But if the blade is hot enough, you'd just end up automatically cauterizing any wound you inflict lol
With a flame sword you'd need it like constantly coating itself with napalm or some sticky flammable fluid with the (over the top) idea of leaving them covered in burning slime aswell as cutting them. That's how I've always imagined them being "useful"
Idea to make flame sword work: have a nozel that will spew gas or some very flammable liquid in the front of the sword under the blade with a trigger to choose when to spew it and have a jet of flame behind the blade so after you spew the flammable and cut the jet of flame catches the flammable on fire and it spreads
Depending on the substance used for fuel swinging the sword could fling sticky blobs of burning whatever and light up someone’s clothing or stick to exposed skin and can cause some nasty burns or even melt their eyes
That sounds wicked, slash the blade into the enemy, so its purposely stuck press a button or something, then a stream of fire ejects from the hilt and sets ur enemy on fire
This guy on RUclips made a flaming sword where the fire comes from the hilt. I wouldn't try to cut with flame but it would prevent my enemy from getting closer that I want. It also acts as extra deterrent. The flame part of the sword has more of a fear factor which favors pushing back and advancing on your enemy.
a lightsaber is essentially a flame sword in terms of results since it cauterize the flesh in a swing as opposed to holding the blade in the desired area
The fire is from oil being lit on the blade the oil would stick on the slice and continue to burn afterwards, but then you have to worry about it cauterizing.
That last one is lt litch krills hammer. He was a leader for freedom of his people. Litch krill is augmented and is about 10feet tall with a ton of body augments. He has great rage and he takes it out of foes, and the points are to inflict more pain.
Also, the burning would probably make whatever viscera burn and stick to the blade if anything... Same with the icicle, if it's that cold, it's gonna freeze the tissue and get stuck before it got deep.

I think, taking in consideration that Doom Guy literally has been to hell and back, that thing is mounted not only securely, it's pretty much a part of his body now
The last one is shaped to make your opponent question the design, then you just attack them when theyre thinking
Warframe weapons are crazy weird but that's why I love it
The thing about the shishkabab is that the blade is coated in gasoline, meaning it probably would still be a useful sword, as the gasoline would still catch fire on your body after the blade hits you.
"And I think the designers need to explain what they were thinking with this one." Hah, yeah that's Warframe alright.
I love how the Fallout Flame Sword is basically a Red Queen from Devil May Cry made of scrap
Love the fallout 4 music in the background
It’s clear what they were thinking already when designing that odd mace.
Love the fallout music in the background
Everybody talking about the flaming sword, but do they even realize the absurdness of the Spy from a videogame called Team Fortress 2 uses a *ICYCLE* to backstab people
Bruh ur acting like ppl dont know what TF2 is, EVERYBODY KNOWS THE FLAMING SWORD IS JUST A MORE POPULAR SUBJECT IDIOT
A flame sword wouldn’t need to cause “flame damage” , if it’s constantly on fire it’s constantly heated so by the time you cut through someone it’s super heated steel
Exactly what I thought
Swords already cut clean why weigh it down why spend the time making it it would serve zero purpose as well as the same problem with fire it would still need to be held there sword cuts are instant it would do jack shit
Surprised Marcus talked about one of Warframe's hammer skins and not the wolf sledge which is a hammer that is used as not only a normal hammer but a throwing weapon too
Tyl Regor won't be happy when he hears that last statement
the thing that actually stuck out to me is that you can ACTUALLY make a spy-cicle irl and its actually is a one time use :D
This man said “nice imagination! Grow up.”
Depends how the flaming effect has been produced. If its liquid it can "splash" towards you opponent when they block your strike. Also binding is less fun when your knuckles are roasting if you dont have proper gloves.
Oh the fallout music brings so much nostalgia...
The wrist blade look like it's being held together by tape and your great-grandma's antenna for her TV
They were thinking exactly what you think they were thinking.
I immediately noticed the fallout 4 start screen music
When you think about it, the shishkabob is really counterproductive. As you said, a quick attack isn't going to catch them on fire, so realistically, all the fire would do is make the blade hot. But if the blade is hot enough, you'd just end up automatically cauterizing any wound you inflict lol
that fallout 3 music is hitting my feelers
With a flame sword you'd need it like constantly coating itself with napalm or some sticky flammable fluid with the (over the top) idea of leaving them covered in burning slime aswell as cutting them. That's how I've always imagined them being "useful"
Oh don't kid yourself, they knew exactly what they were doing with the last one.
They deadass made a weapon equivalent of Truck Nuts.
the spycicle doesnt melt when you go to hell, it does melt when a single flame particle touches you.
Idea to make flame sword work: have a nozel that will spew gas or some very flammable liquid in the front of the sword under the blade with a trigger to choose when to spew it and have a jet of flame behind the blade so after you spew the flammable and cut the jet of flame catches the flammable on fire and it spreads
my guess on flaming swords is they work on the leidenfrost effect, allowing for smoother cuts in fleshy, wet targets
Another point about fire swords, you're literally cauterizing the wound, sealing it, protecting your victim from bleeding or disease.
Love the fallout music when he showed the shishkebab
“Spikey balls hammer”
His coworkers:👏👏
"big spiky hammer go smash" was probably the though process and I don't think I can disagree on that
I think the idea of the Shishkebab is more to slice and set fatigues on fire in the process, leaving your enemy not only gutted but burning too.
I think the flaming would work as it would heat the metal ,and that'll hurt
a lightsaber is essentially a flame sword in terms of results since it cauterize the flesh in a swing as opposed to holding the blade in the desired area
I’ve always seen flaming swords as supposed to be similar to lightsabers, where the heat of the metal allows it to slice easier
Idea: use napalm for the flame sword instead of propane. This would allow the fire to stick to the target and not go out.
The fire is from oil being lit on the blade the oil would stick on the slice and continue to burn afterwards, but then you have to worry about it cauterizing.
Just vibin to the fallout 4 main theme
That last one is lt litch krills hammer. He was a leader for freedom of his people. Litch krill is augmented and is about 10feet tall with a ton of body augments. He has great rage and he takes it out of foes, and the points are to inflict more pain.
Also, the burning would probably make whatever viscera burn and stick to the blade if anything... Same with the icicle, if it's that cold, it's gonna freeze the tissue and get stuck before it got deep.
With fire swords I've always figured the advantage is when the opponent blocks the flaming oil or whatever will fly forward onto the enemy
The flames on a shishkebab look like they would be there to inflict extra pain, like a serrated blade or something
