I wear my auto 42 mm version almost every day. I get more complements on this watch than I do on my Seamaster or Submariner? That says it all! even from fellow watch nerds. Great all rounder, and it wears very thin, so can easily be worn with a dress shirt. Good review mate, hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

Thank you for the review! I've been torn between this and the Tag Heuer Formula 1 and I think I now know which one I'm going to buy. I also very much appreciate that this comes in a 39mm size as it would definitely look better on me.

Just purchased one of these on a re-buy as sold my original HC 39mm and purchased the newer ceramic model and now realised I prefer the older design face so bought one today. This new re-buy will be a keeper as they have upgraded the movement on the later 39mm models to the L888.3 with 64 hours power reserve to match the specs of the newer ceramic models. This hobby is costly lol but fun.

    • @wristwatchdave422

I feel the same. I had the newer ceramic model and eventually bought this previous version - I now prefer it. This one has so many beautiful details and just looks so classy. As you say, it's a very expensive hobby! 😜 Thanks for watching. 👍

@@wristwatchdave422 One annoying thing I have noticed with my new 39mm is the bracelet is lighter and not as solid feeling as the one on my older gen 39mm. Most would not care or notice this small difference. I may buy an older quartz model just to get the bracelet from it. Models starting L7 are the newer ones and model numbers starting L6 are the older ones with the more hefty bracelet.

@@resjon7981 Yes I noticed that too - it's daft. New models should have a better bracelet, not worse.

Hello, I got a question if you or anyone is familiar with it. I bough 44mm too, five months ago, and I got 5, yer warenty and it's says that watch has 72 hours power reserve, witch I tested and it is exactly 73 hours reserve in it. I got stumps with 5" year warranty and stumb silicone balans spring. Does that mean that the watch has silicon spring inside, movement l888.5. Longines only say that movement is l888, and nothing more. Watch is great, it gains 2 sec a day.

Nice review of a great all-rounder. I think it’s difficult to capture the true appearance of watches (i.e., what they look like in the flesh in daylight), but you did show as much of the beauty of the dial as possible.
Another difference between the ceramic and the aluminium models worth mentioning is the bracelet design. The aluminium-bezel Hydroconquest comes on an H-link bracelet, whereas the ceramic Hydroconquest has a more traditionally styled (“Oyster” style, if you like) bracelet.

Great review. I love this watch and want to buy it in the 39 but I wear my watches loose and when I look at that crown and those crown guards I can't help thinking that they'd really dig into the back of my wrist and be very uncomfortable. Hi - I don't have a large wrist and have never found the crown guards to be a problem. It certainly doesn't dig into my wrist and the watch is very comfortable and actually it's quite slim for a diver so I think it will be fine for you. Thanks for watching 👍
