I got one I’m pumped it took me 45 minutes from initial launch and I was able to buy it after getting it in the cart. I already own one and will most likely give the old one to a family member for Christmas. But I’m really excited it’s shipping out this coming week can’t wait!

They never stated with the quantity was. There are plenty of 'limited edition' consoles that sit on shelves in stores by Xbox, Nintendo and the PS that don't sell out right away. Their rollout was sloppy but looked like they produced enough to exceed its initial demand. Which is honestly all I care about. There will be a finite amount of these in this style obviously.
I'm going to give props to Valve; first they said you had to be a user who has purchased games recently. Then LE version were available 2nd day maybe longer after this post. Unlike Analog where every model is a LE and hardly anyone gets a chance to grab a device. The idea of games systems being collectors items boggles my mind... All of these are mass produced these days. Limited Editions just play on people fear of missing out.
If people actually read what they said about it, they said they did a limited amount to see if people really wanted colored ones, since everyone was asking for other options. And that if this succeeded they would make new colors on the next versions as well 😅
My experience trying to get the 512gb was terrible. All the things you mentioned happened to me. My bank app showed I was charged 6 times for the item, yet Steam never showed I even ordered the item at all. It showed the colored blobs and I had to contact my bank and Steam to set everything straight. In the end I was finally able to purchase the 512gb model and it shipped today on the 17th. Two of my brothers were able to get one too and we are all eagerly awaiting our decks to game together. 👍🏼🎊
Hey at least you got it in the end! It's going to be my first OLED handheld device. I decided to skip out on the OLED Switch. So im pretty excited for this one. I heard a lot of people had issues with PayPal as well.
I dont think they were dishonest at all. They said that they were introducing the limited edition to gauge interest and if there was enough interest they might do more things like that in the future. Just because something is a limited edition doesn’t mean they meant for it to sell out in an hour. If they did I would be pissed because I wouldn’t have gotten one.
I think they played it very well. They didn’t even send any of the LE to the reviewers to check out. By doing that they hyped it up even more. But what I’m saying is on their page it says “in limited quantities”. It seems their definition of limited and mine differ. Glad you got one. I’m just waiting for my shipping page to update and keep checking it every few hours 😅

I was able to get a 512gb refurbished lcd deck for $359 and literally what showed up 7 days later was a practically brand new unit even the power brick was flawless. If that’s what valve’s lies look like I don’t mind the misdirection. Valve has my money on the next gen guaranteed

Even if the limited edition OLED is only available for a few days, that is still by definition, Limited Edition. We should be happy Valve gaves us what we wanted and we didn't miss out. I'm happy they re-opened it. I finally had one in the cart after about 15min of trying, but my card company flagged it as fraud and then Valve told me I tried too many purchases. I randomly checked again an hour later and was able to place an order.

Yeah man it’s available to everyone. Only worth an upgrade if you really want that OLED screen. Otherwise the old deck just got software upgrade for the visuals and a lot of people are happy with it.

@@RPGHaviq i know if opened the flood gates and i really am in a place where i can get seriously injured by insults BUT it seems like the people who are buying either are outside of the us/canada or are in a area where stock is out (stock is out only in a very few places and it probably will get restocked) most of the scalpers will probably end up returning them within the next 2 weeks unless we get em sold, the other bit of people buying are just dumb and dont know its still in stock or you can still get it from daddy gaben

I’m glad they did this. It’s hilarious to see the fools posting the 1tb models on eBay for hundreds more when they are still for sale at the retail price! No one is gonna be scalped due to this because they are being made in a bigger quantity then the first models. I got one in about less than 30 mins after launch. I think Valve did it in small wave batches 'coz it keeps going out-of-stock then in stock again. I also read somewhere that they limited how much ppl can buy per state? Not sure if that's true though. Anyway I'm glad I got my Limited Edition Steam Deck OLED too. Now I'm just worried that it might get stolen in transit. I hope Valve learned their lesson and not publish what's inside the package like they did before. 😓

I'm surprised myself when I got my 512GB LCD version back then coz the packages states it came from Valve and it's a Steam Deck. Valve didn't bother to hide it at all. 😓 I hardly have any packages stolen delivered to my house though and I have cameras around the house too. But it would surely suck if it happens... lol 😅

Finally, someone who understands! I still kept my order and I got a shipping update today. I love the look of the transparent case and orange joysticks. I know you can do that with the non LE version by buying parts off Amazon/eBay. But it’s coming around to be the same price.
