After those brats broke all of your widows, you bounced back. You’ll bounce back from this as well and be better for it. Love your videos.
Best to you.
Get yourself a diesel heater and a petrol generator and a gas cooker and use the leisure center for a swim and shower will be cheeper
A dehumidifier would be a good addition anyway but a gas cooker generates water vapour in addition to Carbon monoxide, so ventilation for the cooker is vital.
@Tomm9y in that big of a space and I don't think it's that air tight to worry about
Chris, please try to remember , more often than not, to wear & activate your microphone.
Everytime it gets really uncomfortable and you're thinking negative thoughts, remember, those are the moments you'll look back on and be thankful you pushed through together.
Omg you two are crazy , love it , the build will progress more quickly now 😂
If you can find a mooring with shore power this is must for your construction work and will greatly improve living on board.
A lot of residential marinas don't allow construction work on boats because it disturbs the other residents
Guys, so sorry about your forced early relocation to the boat; however it just makes your coming episodes even that much better as we see you cope with your current circumstances. I loved seeing how you were using building materials as a table and a box cutter to slice tomatoes - now that is true coping. Your channel just keeps getting mo betta and my prayers relating to your increased coping will now begin in earnest. Thanks for keeping your subscribers entertained and seeing how to roll with the punches of life as they come our way. Oh yeah, Barney keep your people between the canal banks.
Really admire you both and still smiling, laughing, really positive, try not to lose that as its hugely endearing
Have you got a tent you could put up in the boat, it'll keep you warmer and keeps the dust off you, whilst your working on the boat. Nip to charity shop for plates, cutlery & insulated mugs, then it won't matter if they get damaged.
Well done guys. Didn't you have plates and cutlery when you were at house?
Don't fret too much about your living situation. You'll get used to it quickly once you get that things you need have to "camp" on the boat. The day you flick the first switch for light or turn the tap for water will boost your spirits big time. Just consider it all part of the adventure.
It is times like these that make for future memories.
Probably the worst time for this situation to happen, but it’ll afford you more time - & money? to crack on with it.
As already said, diesel heater, camping stove & a Porta Potti/Cassette Toilet will get you going to begin with. Good luck, all part of the adventure 😊
I think you will have a beautiful boat soon good luck guys
I love the way you keep smiling and see this as an adventure.
I am sure that this adventure will have a very happy ending.
Great video and i love watching the two off you👍👍👍
We packed our roof racks up like that, tied them down, really hard, gave them a shake. Yep all solid, at least until we got onto the motorway and the small ones (like the ones that you had on the bottom) slid off the front. Thankfully it was the front, the back and it would have hit cars behind us. At least you’re not homeless, bright side, many people are. Good luck. 🥰
You guys should hookup the solar panels to your bluetti to charge it up during the day
OMG you guys are amazing 🎉 I love your cnl and journey along the way❤keep it going and can't wait to see the finished work 😀 God blless❤
Awww no way! I hope you're both going to be okay, It's come at the worst time with this cold snap suddenly setting in. Please please please keep yourselves warm and all your fingers and toes attached!
I'm looking forward to another update where hopefully you've got better news
Definitely the right decision to move on board. Uncomfortable for a few days, but things will bet better quickly.
I think that's great, and you're very brave. For winter on a boat I recommend a diesel air heater or a boat stove, as it's impossible to heat a large metal boat with its own electricity. Good luck.
Congrats on your new home! A lot sooner than expected, but I hope you two, no THREE!, can find joy in every day you have there... Even while slumming it! Haha.
As an afterthought the boat has much more security now your onboard.
May I congratulate you both on boat life full time.
Necessity is the mother of innervation.
We know what you meant 😊
God be with you! It’s a bad time for terrible things to happen. Here where I live it’s bad too, but with God’s help we will get through it!
Good luck with the weather as you try to build the insides of the boat but now you are living on the boat or not far the boat it give more chance to get things done 😊😊
Please never open bread like that again 😂
Excellent 👍
Wow 🤔 what a crazy situation. Fingers crossed for you both. You two are a great team👏👏👏👏🎉🎊🍾
He saw y’all welding in the dining room.😂😂😂
I was sondering about that myself at the time ... 🤯
@@almann5680 probably
Although you are living basic it does look cosy in there thanks for sharing can't wait for the next one
Stay positive and keep going, you can do it🎉🎉🎉
You can do this just keep on smiling ❤
I hope you get some luck soon. Keep warm stay happy.
You've come along way, and now you have boarded the Ark and there's no turning back, things work out the way there supposed to if you allow fate to take its course, exciting adventures , bully bully for you both.
Try to keep smiling. I will not complain how cold i am when i know you're worse off. Take care of each other🤗
One of those camping gas stoves that take the aerosol size gas cannisters would save you a lot of power, ideal for boiling kettles or a quick bacon butty. Also a lpg gas fire would help with the warmth providing you have ventilation.
I love to see your progress each time. I went through something similar years ago when my ex sold our home in town & forced us to live in a tiny camper for 4 years while we built a new home in the country. We DID freeze our tails off in the winter! You two seem to have a much better relationship and should do better. Stay warm! I look forward to your next episode!
I admire your resilience! Whatever life throws at you, you just adapt yourselves. Keep it up. Good luck.
What an adventure!! Ever changing life situations make stronger and more adaptable. You guys will cope and thrive I'm sure. Keep safe and warm!! Cheers....
Best of luck to you both I like the way you both can laugh with so many tasks Infront of you with your determination you will overcome anything 😊
Oh my, forced camping on your boat while it's still under construction! Sorry to hear of your vastly changing circumstances; that's tough, and with winter coming on! This time in your life will definitely be an unforgettable learning experience.
When constantly being in cold weather, please keep warm but, especially keep your head warm, especially while sleeping. In this environment, it's surprisingly easy to come down with a sinus or respiratory infection.
As others have mentioned, look into getting an 8 kW diesel air heater (also called a parking heater). These are made for camper vans, are quite low cost, and use fuel sparingly. Get one with a built-in fuel tank. There is some setup required; the intake air and exhaust from the burner must be run outside. You will need to attach a 12 volt power plug (the type used for car 12 volt power). These only pull about 3 amps of 12 volt power so, can easily be powered from your Bluetti.
Electrical appliances that heat use huge amounts of power, you may need to get a second Bluetti or, a camp stove, or butane burner.
If you can afford it, lodge in a hotel once a week and go out to eat often. I wish you the best!
Well done you will do this easy just make sure you are warm!
Hats off to the 3 of you. Respect!!
Wow, seeing the size of the King size bed in place gives a wonderful scale of the length of your boat.
Hang in there people, you are well passed the hard stage.
Love it! Your ruffing it! You should save some money to be honest. I love these canal homes. We're following your journey. It's going to be wonderful when it's done. My husband & I would have loved to do what your doing but it's to late for us really. Not that we're old but older than the two of you. You've got this! You'll be fine. Your doing really well. Great to follow your dream. We're from the US Massachusetts.
Love watching two. Xx
Ive gone thru life believing, things can always be worse, and things happen for a reason. You could of got kicked out of you house before you had the windows put in. Now you can spend more time working on the boat, how much money are you saving on not paying rent. Its a little bad now but it will get better. Later you'll look back on this and laugh, both of you have a great outlook on life, that really helps. Hang in!!!
Enjoying your adventure. Suggest you NOT put liquid containers on top of the generator.
It'll go faster now. It'll be tough to start with. Good luck guys.
Just think about the money you will be saving that could go into the build.
Good luck coping with the cold weather.
Just a note, the green light doesn't mean your sandwiches are ready, it's to tell you it's hot enough to put your sandwiches in to start cooking
Hang in there guys don't give up on your dreams don't worry be strong All the best wishes for you both and barley of course
Need to butter the outside of the bread it will toast much better all the best on your boat ❤️
And please move the kettle of the power bank before it spills over and blows it up 😮
Hello,
You three are fantastic! Many of your subscribers will have made suggestions. May I suggest that you employ shopfitters to come in and erect your wall partitions, they could possibly have it finished in two or three days! In the run up to Christmas no shops want shopfitters in, therefore they could be readily available.
Hope I haven't upset you.
Kind regards
Andrew
You can do it! As you Brits say "don't get your knickers in a bunch"
Be good to see the faster progress you make now, go to a camping shop and look at a " jet boil" it's a small gas powered one pot boiler, makes a brew really fast, and saves the power bank.
Progress will be swift now all the extra time and money, there will be no holding you back first thing i would do is install whatever heating you were thinking about before the real cold starts
Are you planing of istalling stove for heat The boat ?
Good luck to you both.
Good luck guys tough time to deal with
Now you need to invest in solar power and batteries. Assuming you can moor in unshaded location, that would allow you to store lots of energy and have resilience for the shorter, overcast, cold days. As you don't have rent, etc. to pay for hopefully you can increase the rate of investment. I hope you can manage the bureaucratic side of canal boating. Organisations like the DVLA are really tricky about what types of address you can use. Some things you can manage with a virtual mailing address.
Perhaps you can find a local landlord who could help you. I'm sure there must be decent folk about!
Hey Gang
One suggestion is to get a laser to project lines in at least 2 axis. They are fairly inexpensive now and will save time and effort as well as help with quality.. 😊
You definitely need a petrol generator and a small gas cooker . Maybe a small wood burner. Love your channel and hope you get on ok during the cold weather ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
it looked absolutely freezing on that boat but you're getting there well done you
Similar happened to me and there’s no incentive better to get stuff done, however some of the stuff I fitted temporarily is still temporarily temporary 😂
I'd have thought that a box of crocks and irons would have been first on board. Get ye to the supermarket! A couple of king size 15 togs should keep you cosy. Flannel onesie's optional.
Doing the same in a reno project in Scotland.
You need to get a Mr Heater propane heater. I run one and a wood pellet stove. The stove decided it wasn't going to work the other night so I hooked up the propane heater
You always have to pay the cheese tax.
Oh no! That really sucks about the house, a landlord of ours gave us a month to move out once which ended on Christmas eve (lovely little present from them). Boats looking great!!
Get yourselves a log burner installed asap to warm the whole space nicely
Thank god you got a boat the size of a house pheweeee 🙃 but maybe some more home comforts !
We camped in a shell of a house like this , it’s hard but when it is finished you will look back and laugh , thinking how mad we’re we ? How did we do that ?!
Keep smiling. How about getting yourself hot water bottles to help keep you warm at night you have a kettle as long as you use some cold water with it. Plus side as you say you can work on the boat everyday
Loving the progress, your build and all its difficulties makes my shed build look like a walk in the park haha. Keep it going ma chinas and have a braai to warm up lol
Hi guys! Get yourselfs a Voche electric hot bottle pocket water. It will keep u warm for half a night, then u plugging again for 15min
Sugestion.. 600 watt kettle , usb dehumidifer for the moment. Wishing you all the best of luck
Crap happens guy's but you have a super outlook on your circumstances .
Good Evening my two lovely people, I think you will get on great now you are on the boat 🛥️ 24/7 you are getting on so well and I look forward to seeing all your videos, Well I wish you both all the best in getting it finished ❤.🛠️🛠️🛌⭐️⭐️👍👌🎅🎅
Mayonnaise on a toasted sandwich... 😢. Ham and cheese for the win! I'd see if you I can get a wood stove for the time being.... You might be able to keep the whole inside warmer for longer. Respect for moving in mid winter... Got my fingers crossed for your success!!!
You could also go to some of the homes & boats nearby and tell them what's going on and ask them to check in on you occasionally. It'd make me feel better 😂 and maybe you'll make some new friends with a shower....❤
wow big sleepover ....good luck guys ...petrol gen for power ,,,,,diesel heater also ...
should of grabbed a dust sheet when you was getting the timber and sheet board to cover your bed while working. also have you thought about maybe getting a small generator for charging your stuff up and a light for while working etc.
Also
Fill the window voids with off cuts if insulation
1 they improve the room insulation
2 that will give you privacy
Maybe sacrifice one panel just for that
it was the right decision ! you will figure everything out as you go !
The greatest motivation is necessity. 😂
Didn't you use a generator when you first started on the boat? You could run that a few times a day as needed to charge and when using tools. As someone said, mount some solar panels and get some deep cycle batteries as you can afford them. A Bluetti style power bank is too limited in capacity to di much. A few solar panels, an inverter/charger from ebay and a few gel batteries would cost less than a Bluetti. You might have to run the generator for an hour here and there while days are short. What fun, great adventure. Best wishes from Australia
Shame about where you were renting but two things are a plus, more speed with the boat build and more money to spend on it. Get yourself an air fryer, great bit of kit, doesn't need a load of power and even does a full Sunday lunch and veg all in one hit, with a liner hardly no washing up with a paper one just bin it. Your doing great you two, cosying up on the boat and save all the travelling, bath / shower and toilet fitted and a bit more temporary kitchen, plus some heating, sorted, and well on the way to home sweet home.
...........have you ever watched " this tiny life " ?. It's a youtube blog about a young couple doing the same thing as you guy's only the barge is a traditional narrow boat , well worth a look . Keep going but make sure you take that break and have that " me " time together .......... Does Barley have his own bed on board , he'll be more comfortable and feel safer in his own space .
If you have put your stuff in a metal container, be careful as they get very bad condensation, especially in winter, it will ruin your stuff and cardboard boxes rot and make everything smell dreadful… fingers crossed for you
Hi both, why don’t you get a cheap or second hand frame tent that fits over the bed at least, it will give privacy and be quicker, easier and cheaper to warm.
Not sure your financial situation but I'd be investing in either non-electric heat (propane or being in the UK coal) or low electric use heat like a diesel heater. Be sparing on the Blueti power for heating tea etc. If you could swing it and know how you can build a pretty powerful solar system for not to bad.
I just put in 750 ah of lithium batteries, 2 victron controllers and a Giandel 3000w inverter for 2000 dollars U.S. Add a thousand for solar panels and you got a really good solar system for not to much investment.
Get yourself comfortable and feeling at home then worry more about the build!
You can get yourself set up with a shower and other comforts if you get creative enough. On the plus side being cooler out you can get by without a refrigerator for now.
Wish you luck as winter is a tough time to make that transition.
P.S I live offgrid in Arizona and even I need a good heater and use a diesel heater! I put being comfortable at a premium!
No worries, it will push you along to finish sooner....
Your both crazy but good luck what doesn't kill you makes you stronger so they say !
Best of luck to you both! Look at it this way ; no rent!!! More money for DIY!! :>
living on a project restoration boat is not going to be an easy thing lots of work, but you will make
Well that's an opportunity that has presented itself not ideal but saves signing a new lease😮😢😂. You will get it fitted out quicker now. A bummer for sure but let's get going.😅
Where have you planed to put your water tank just wondering .
What about an electric blanket? Can you get one to work on a small electrical generator?
