Hey Scotty, my aunt has got a 2004 Land Cruiser with 56k miles, should she change the transmission fluid or not? And if so, should she change it at the Toyota dealer?
Scotty do an intro of you speeding down the street in the scooter? Btw thanks for the knowledge im changing my first set of sparkplugs and cabin filter this week!
Thanks for posting. Like others said it was nice to see cat in the video. I got kinda lost when video changed away from Impala. Oh well. Im getting tired everyone. Good night Houston!
I also remove the Master Cylinder cap , so the Piston will Compress , easier . Just DONT FOFGET TO PUT THE CAP BACK ON and squeeze down a few times on the brakes when you are all done , Before You move the car .
That Impala looks like it is in pretty good condition. Shows what happens when you take care of a car. The one addition I would do to the simple brake pad change would be to lube the caliper pins that the bolts go into. Every time I have ever changed disc pads, the pins are dry, and sometimes they are worn. Think about it. Most of the time, pads last for years, so the pins dry out also. We are about the same age, but I don't have the strength in my hands to compress the caliper pistons with a pair of water pump pliers. I have a tool made to do that, but a C clamp works well also.
@, I would not buy this car no matter how it sounds even if it was brand new. You couldn't get me to buy a GM product at all. I haul new cars for a living. I see the build quality every day. Our company has contracts with Ford, Nissan, General Motors, Chrysler, HYUNDAI, VW, and Mazda in the areas that I work. I own Fords for my personal use, and I have seen the build quality going down even in the Fords. The only vehicles that i can see where the quality is going up is in the Kia and HYUNDAI brands. They are much better than they were 10 or 15 years ago and most of them will go 100,000 miles or more with decent maintenance. And when you consider the price for a new car and figure that into your cost per mile to own it these become something to consider, then, afterwards look closely at Toyota and Honda that will give you 300,000 plus miles and the cost per mile to own one of these will definitely cause you to raise your eyebrows.
Hey Scotty!! I had my oil changed today, just replaced the oil filter with a titanium one, a high performance, durability air filter but not the K&N version. I took it out on the highway as well to let it clean itself out with some gumout for deposits, such for my chevy camaro. 2010 This video basically answered my own question. So, in a way you have already helped me on my journey. Thank you for your patience, time good sir! P.s. I am starting to get the impression you don't like Chevrolet. 😁😆 Please make a video about Chevy's and why you believe they are crap if you haven't already. I wish to know more. Best wishes. I hope you're foing well. 😇🖖
Do those calipers have a bleed valve? I've been told you open the bleed valve before you squeeze the caliper to push the pistons back. If you don't, it can push the brake pressure back into the master cylinder and cause damage.
I should of stuck with mechanics!!!! This .... guy makes a million every year for wat he says......dam... good job mate.... never retire, we need you mate...
Would not use a metallic screw driver to pry the frozen brake pad off (potential to scratch the rotor). I’d used something plastic or rubber coated. He also didn’t check the rotor thickness to see if the rotor had to be replaced. Last, it’s been a while since I last did brakes, but on the older Fords, if you compressed the caliper pistons without releasing the pressure from the brake fluid, you could mess up the ABS system.
Scotty, I hate those crap covers as much as you do. First thing I do is remove them and trash them. (On my own cars of course). Gotta be able to see what's going on under there. Although my 07 Camry 2GR-FE with over 251k only got reliability going on under the hood. Lol. Keep up the good work.
Jesus. I can't tell you how many times I went in to this one particular shop and I was overcharged because they either didn't know what the hell they were doing or they just fixed a bunch of crap that didn't need to be fixed. This youtube channel is a Godsend.
Will a 2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid S hold up and be a reliable car for Uber/Lyft? What should I prepare myself for and what kind of extra parts should I buy when they break?
@N0RT2G0RD4U I already bought the Ford. It's been running pretty good for 2 years now. The MPG has gone down but other than that it's been holding up at about 92K miles on the odometer.
Scotty the battery tool you have in this video I'm sure is best but do you think a multimeter is suitable checking the battery and charging system by doing a voltage drop test and just checking voltage under load while the car is running?
Scotty, I got a 2017 Nissan Frontier runs great only problem is when it rains for hours at a time like it did last week here in Houston I get a leak just about the driver side door but not from the seal. It comes from inside the panel where the wires are above the door, me the dealership and mechanic couldn’t find where it’s coming from any thoughts on what it could be? I also have a sunroof but doesn’t seem to be any leaks, I’m at a dead end.
After all the videos I watched about not doing this to your car or you’re stupid. I think this is the first video I’ve ever watched where I’m actually not stupid this time. Thanks Scotty!
No, Scotty has said that they are good cars. Their just small and they ride rough because of that, but, they are well built automobiles and if taken care of they will last a long time.
Once or twice a year use a battery terminal wire brush & clean the connections. After reassembly spray just a little PB Blaster on the terminals to prevent oxidation.
Thanks Scotty. I find myself pretty good with car know how not so much with computer stuff but most everyting else. like your videos you tell it like it is. have a friend that knows his cars too. has the older honda that was a hybrid at that time. forget what its called. now likes and trust still old cars so got a deal on a 1984 biuck century, lol. v6 I patched some holes on the shock towers because im a welder, and made a a new steel bumper up for him too.we did brakes, horn . and some of the power window switches as well. think it will pass certification now. we live in Canada. anyway like the old cars. can fix them easy(room) cheap parts even new and last a long time again trouble free.take care.Mike.
Most Cars in Houston dont rust much unless you live close to The Gulf ( Galveston, Freeport , etc ) and/or Drive on the Beaches a lot without washing off your car , after . I lived in Texas for 20 years..
Scotty, How come no matter how much attention I pay, how much money I spend, and how careful a job I do using high quality 3rd party brake parts, the brakes are never as smooth as the stock pads and rotors? I always get minor to noticeable steering shake at highway braking speed even after I wire brushing the mating hub surface and using awesome parts, including Akebono. What gives?
Hey Scotty I have a 94 Dodge pick up standard cab 120 K miles original owner it runs great, but it’s been parked in my garage for 10 years almost to the day. is there anything mechanically you recommend I do before I drive this thing down the road?
Those sway bar links on those GM cars are garbage. I had to change both sides because they rusted and broke. The replacement ones used a bigger bolt and were designed like older sway bars had. You right about GM,,,,,,,,,
I have a 2016 Ho da Accord Sport and when I get on the highway and start going 65 or faster I start to feel a wobble under butt. I had the tires balanced
I enjoy seeing what car will be in the picture that Scotty picks for each video, or which car the picture was taken in. This time, I think it’s a Skoda Octavia.

What about the traction and stability control Scotty? Fuse, wheel speed sensors?
Nice cat
What should we be doing to help, did I miss something
Hey Scotty, my aunt has got a 2004 Land Cruiser with 56k miles, should she change the transmission fluid or not? And if so, should she change it at the Toyota dealer?
Hey scotty I just bought a 99 ford f150 and at idle it vibrates semi bad when I accelerate it's not as bad what's your thoughts on that
The cat helped with the inspection
Conspiracy theory- the cat is the real mechanic 🤔😉
Lol
A CAT-Scan.🐆
In a rare move, it appears the Cat approves of this Chevy. Fascinating.🤣

The cat is scanning the roof of the car which is why it is called a catscan

I would be too embarrassed to give my mechanic a dirty car let alone have it seen by millions ...

I haven’t clicked a video as fast as that, My goodness I love Scottys vids. Keep it up dude!

Exactly how I change brake pads...I never remove the entire caliper...had to show the guys at work how its done
It's so good to see Scotty's assistant inspecting the car's roof and doing their part to help 😊☺️😀
HELL yeah Scotty. Today I woke up thinking how I can test my alt , starter. Then I watch this video and learned how to do it !! Love you so much.
Tip: don’t break ur hand squeezing the caliper with pliers. Use the old pad with a C clamp to push back in, it’s way easy on ur hands.
