To think u have come this far. This is really beautiful, I can’t even describe with words. EVERY SINGLE ASPECT/DETAIL IS AMAZING! I found your channel YEARS AGO, back when I was far younger and now to see u like this. Really makes me proud to see a programmer doing his passion for all these years and little by little finishing this masterpiece. You, sir, are phenomenal. Amazing talent. I can’t wait for the final product. And thanks for honoring the mastermind behind this amazing story, Satoru Iwata, and one of the most beloved Nintendo streamers, Etika. Watching Iwata in his own world makes me so nostalgic. Thank you, sir. Keep up the good work.
Link 713 yea I agree I found his channel about 3-4 years ago and I saw him doing this amazing project I was so excited! I was AMAZED at the detail back then but now I don’t know what to say ITS INCREDIBLE, no even more than that. I think that he made this project alone at start (I think) but now a lot of people helped! I’m so happy how this turned out it’s absolutely incredible! I remember playing the N64 with my dad when I was young and to be honest I want to replay it after this, I wanna replay the thing that started this masterpiece.
So happy I check in on the project from time to to time to see all the amazing progress you have. Now I find out you have a patreon. Definitely subbing today to try these alpha/beta builds:)
@@chris2745 imagine using what you have, making something cool, posting it, and having some self-entitled, talent-less, shitstain call it bad. go back to your cave you fucking neanderthal.
The fact he put his heart and soul into this “ reimagining “ is amazing. The attention to detail! The fact he pays tribute to those no longer with us ( Satori ) I know he would be happy to see one of his creations being worked on! Seriously Nintendo you need to contract this guy! I know he is doing it for the love of the franchise but still.... talent this good should be put to good use in all of today’s companies making games! Cannot wait to see future updates. And like with FF7 remake they mentioned the remake is what they wanted the game to be, back then they didn’t have the technology or know how. I believe the same can be said for OOT. Edit: I feel the same as others when I saw Satori with the balloon it hit home Hard how much he loved his company and his customers. I hope you keep those little bits in as you progress.
this is insanely cool, but if I may offer a bit of constructive feedback, there are some art direction notes I'd like to offer: 1. the most important thing that needs a pass is color. Your shadows are black, which is a detail that screams "engine art/programmer art." Shadows are very colorful. They capture and scatter ambient light. The sun's light is white, but the sky's blue color is also illuminating the shadows. Where the sun doesn't shine, the shadows are illuminated by the ambient blue light. In other words, outdoor shadows during a sunny day are blue, not black. Look at the fountain in the Mario Odyssey mushroom kingdom stage and you'll see the blue shadow against the white stone fountain. In sunlight, basically anything white has blue shadows. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. Foliage has lots of yellows and blues mixed in. Light scatters inside the leaves to create yellow, green, and again, there are blues in the shadows. Shadows capture other colors too. Say the sun hits a red floor. Then there is a ceiling windowsill. That shadow would be red because the red light from the carpet is bouncing off the ground and into that shadow. "Color and light" by James Gurney is a great eye opener on this concept. There is a phenomenon called "atmospheric perspective" where distant objects become obscured by layer upon layer of particles in the atmosphere such that they take on the color of the sky which is usually blue. Go outside and observe distant forested mountains on a sunny day. you'll see the shadows are EXTREMELY blue, and the far distant objects are almost completely solid blue. In your game, distant objects do not observe atmospheric perspective, which hurts the overall feeling of togetherness and beauty in the frame. 2. UI. The buttons look kind of like 90s PC art ie. circles with a texture and a bevel effect. Look at how buttons, heart pieces, textures, colors, shapes, etc are done in breath of the wild and wind waker. Really observe closely the ways in which a slick, stylish UI design is achieved. 3. I would hand-create or procedurally create levels of detail at distance. LODs are usually to save memory for textures, but more importantly it is for a much better looking frame. The more distant objects are, the less detail you can see. This is why in a lot of video game art, distand objects tend to look crunchy and kind of ugly because they aren't simulating how the human eye perceives far distant objects. Go out one day and look at trees really close, at a medium distance, and really far and see just how vastly different the shapes, forms, and colors appear to your eye. Making simple far distant versions of objects will simplify and beautify the frame. 4. your flesh tones look pretty good. there are a lot of nice pinks in there which I appreciate. However, the way the faces are lit/interacting with the environment make them look a bit dated. Observe pale human skin in direct light. There is usually a ton of contrast. The highlights are washed out and almost solid white, and the shadow areas are a hard pink. Anime simulates this all the time with those really washed high contrast frames. I'd use materials for flesh that best simulate subsurface scattering as well as how light hits flesh, which is very different from how light hits other materials. This is more of a "nice to have."
@Natty Sock Im sure he already knows all of that. Graphics engines are already capable of near perfect reflection of reality. The issue is performance and development time.
Nintendo went back to Wii U status since his death. The Switch was meant to be more for grown ups and now it's like a glorified 3DS without the cool features nor retro backwards games.
I’ve been watching these uploads literally for years now and I just wanted to say that you’re passion for this remake is so joy inducing. This game was a big part of our collective childhood memories and I’m happy to see it come together like this. Much respect my friend.
I feel like I was the only kid in the world that questioned why everything in a game was blurry and not so great looking lmao . Definitely much better looking than what I remember.
God this is just amazing like i played the original Zelda ocarina of time all afternoon and saw this in my recommended vieos here on youtube and let me tell you it was so worth watching this,it feels too real.I always have thought that an Hd version of Zelda oof should have been made and this is it,this deserves to be in a store and i would buy it immediately. Also let's just appreciate the hard and marvelous work these people put into it from the little details to the big picture.I love it
It looks good so far, but a few things to note: Reduce the bounciness of the drops from pots and crates so that they don't fly too far from where the container was broken. Increase the air time when holding cuckoos and jumping off of platforms. In the original, Link glides in a diagonal line. I think one other suggestion might be to reduce the light Navi makes, it's too bright compared to the rest of the game's lighting. All in all you're doing spectacularly. Each update blows the last one out of the water, and I can't wait to see where the next one will take us!
@@dragonfireinfernus336 yeah it does....but I hope it doesn't break any gameplay mechanism. The original OOT on n64 didn't have a day-night transition...there must have been a reason for that.
@@kaushalkartikey5702 Places in OoT where there were NPCs had day and night variations of the areas because different NPC's and Gold Skulltula locations appear depending on what time of day it is. I'd imagine this day and night cycled Kakariko isn't permanent considering Kakariko's night-time map has a few skulltulas hiding around.
THIS is how i used to see the game at the time. The N64 jump was something outstanding! And now the UE4 gave me the same feeling... Keep the good job man! ;)
You Sir... have made insanely good progress in the beginning you made this project and now I'm just impressed by the fine details don't ever stop graphics look phenomenal
I don't think I've ever been as heavily invested in a project, I've been watching since the very start. It's just phenomenal to see someone do what everyone here would love to do if we had the skill.
I feel like this is how my brain remembers this game looking, as if our childhood imagination filled in the blanks where the technology wasn’t there yet.
I've followed this project for a little while now, and I am blown away by the progress and dedication you have given to it. The differences that matter (Like the Lost Woods) and the additions to honor those who made an impact to the community like Etika, Martin Pfister and Iwata... just shows how much heart and soul you put into this. Your work is not going unnoticed! Keep it up!
For those wondering, his patreon is still updated with progress fairly regularly. so the dream is indeed not dead. if you want to see how he's coming along i suggest you donate the 2$ to see all the progress.
I dont know where you have been, I only hope you are still out there, somewhere. You are the only one who has created an image of a remake that I truly slumber for. While I enjoy and encourage those other projects to continue, this style and artistic vision is the version I await. Ocarina of Time is not my red tinted glasses game but, it is the one that I most enjoy and still gives me goosebumps completing tasks, only second to Majora's Mask.
I disagree, but it prints money for the guy so good on him. Hooked 500 people on false nostalgia, using other people's assets to make a living and he's not really doing anyone a service by using Unreal Engine as it devalues its originality.
I have only just found out about this project and my mind is blown! I can't imagine how much work has gone into this and it is beautiful! Amazing work. I will be joining the Patreon to support this 100%. Cant wait to try it out :D
This is incredible, THANK YOU for putting your heart and soul into re-imagining this masterpiece. Us long time zelda fans look forward to this someday hopefully being complete. You sir are a legend
Absolutely love the sounds of the winds and trees. These details add so much to the overall experience. I want to add the lighting and use of shadow is phenomenal as well.
I love how it's not just a remaster, it's a reimagining in some ways! For example, the Temple of Time that was so barren in OoT is now so detailed with some new features to add to it.
I was thinking that this was the exact same graphical realness that I envisioned when I was hunched over at the library, as a child, as I waited in feverish anticipation of, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. This is is exactly how I envisioned it as a child, when I would walk home and pretend that I was Link himself, and go on adventures in my own neighborhood! The fluid, watery, vivid, chromatic and emotional feeling that this game version elicits is the exact same feeling that I thought I would have when I would play the game in 1996. This is the version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, that the fans deserve and need to play in order to fully appreciate the game in its entirety. I will pay good money to play this game when it is finished and revel in it's expansive, immersive, and all-consuming atmosphere!!:)):):). This game version is not just a game, it is a spiritual experience, that needs to be felt, and i will feel it! It is the schizophrenic's, fantasy!
The amount of work you put into these passion projects is just beautiful my man. All I can say is thank you for making these pieces of content. Nintendo MUST sign you or something. Or take notes because THIS is TRULY what the Zelda community wants!
it’s hard to believe i’ve been following this project for years now... the progress you’ve made is unbelievable man, i can’t wait to see what’s to come :)

I'm honestly surprised they haven't already. By comparison when they were CoD'd by EA/Disney the Poem Studios guys didn't even have their KOTOR remake stuff remotely playable. Just assorted level building and character modelling. I've always kinda held out hope that they carried on the work in secret, it would be a real waste if not.
Are they even allowed to forbid people to make remakes? I mean for as long as those remakes are non-profit they should be perfectly allowed, aren't they?
@@DelasVC No, they’re not. But Japanese companies don’t understand this because they are based in in an extremely exaggeratedly overly conservative country. Now im still kinda young but I’ve played oot on 3ds and n64 and to see someone remake this game truly brings joy to my heart to see this have come so far in development and i think i speak for everyone when i say this You are a good man, thank you
I'm one of the many people who have following you when you started all this. Of course there are plenty of great skilled developers out there. But what makes you stand out is not only your devotion because you're REALLY devoted, but also you taking the fans serious. If people point out some mistakes you should fix, you do it. You take both compliments and critism like a pro. You're getting better and better with each update. But what makes you the best of the best? Adding Satoru Iwata. That's simply the coolest and nicest thing to do. To add this great man into his own world so he can live on forever is one of the best tributes one could ever make. It shows you're a truly respectful guy. This alone makes you already stand out. And you also added your patrons in the game. That's very cool as well! Keep the brilliant work going. I can't wait to see more updates! God bless you, sir. You deserve every respect.
I have been following this project since I was still just a kid, and you've been doing an amazing job. This is how I saw it when i was a kid experiencing it for the first time, and I'm really looking forward to it's full release.
I've ben seeing clips all over of this and still screenshots, to finally have actually found your channel and be able to try and see if my computer will run this masterpiece.. even if it cant ill make it happen one day. I'm just stoked to see this is a project you're allowing people to try as well. I'm more than excited and love seeing this, your work is beautiful
As long as you're not using any leaked copyrighted source code, graphics, etc (i.e. you created it all from scratch) and you're not selling it, he can do whatever he wants (i.e. distribute it for free). EDIT: clarified
14:45 I miss the black borders on the screen when you target or center your camera. I've always found that pretty neat. Maybe, if you add them, you could add some effects: like light effects or simply some more complexe shapes instead of borders. It's still a wonderful work you've done on this project and I hope you'll try to make it better and better (if it can be improved).
Most impressive thing is the dedication...this has been going on forever. Anybody else who tries to remaster it at this point is just wasting their time even Nintendo. When it’s finished you should get it ported you switch. You’d be a literal god.
Everything looks too bright, this man and everyone who makes graphics mods seems to have a boner for excessive amounts of bloom, to dark ambient occlusion, to close and blurry dof, to much saturation and stupid amount of sharpening filters.
Love this project his next update wont be until he has it all set up and converted over to Unreal Engine 5 where the levels stand out even more in details so give him some more time it'll look even more beautiful and bring more joy to our hearts :)
my whole childhood is in front of me, it's beautiful, you make me want to play your game. You have a lot of talents and we can see all your passion for this game, seeing all these images makes me want to explore your kingdom of Hyrule. you give me hope that one day I can play this game again with this quality and level of details. Thank you very much. I am blown away.
I love what you guys are doing and as a broke fool, I'd pay good money for this sort of remake. But please change the physics on those bunny ears. It's cool for a minute, but after a while it's distracting and looks crazy when you're standing still. Maybe just like you're wearing a bunny hood, they'd move on the x/y axis, but not be so, I dunno, ragdolly?
Other than the character animation being as stiff as the original, This is so beautiful. Really wish this was a real thing . . . kinda makes me sad that its not
It is real! It's an actual game CryZEN is developing in UE4. Sure, it's taking awhile due to limited manpower but provided it doesn't get shut down it could be playable in the future.
@@garrycotton7094 would be nice. I guess what i meant is that it isnt playable for us. I would love to get my hands on this. This is child hood fight here
The Iwata tribute made me cry, not gonna lie. T__T I used to play this game with my uncle before cancer took him from this world. The nostalgia I experience from the soundtrack and visuals are both in equal parts heartwarming and devastating... When I look into the mirror and see just how much time has passed it makes me resent the present, the 90's were a far better time.... Being a kid was the best time of my life, not a care in the world. "It's true what they say. The grass is always greener, and you really don't know what it is you have, until it's gone... gone... gone.' - Conker The Squirrel
I know its unfinished so i feel wrong saying this but i will for hopefully to help. I hope that you don't just take graphic quality into account. Make sure its playable etc. Obviously you would be but the game looks so well done that i feel like its possible that graphics are it. It does look a bit bright to me but that's my only complaint. Much love
I mean you don't want to refine the gameplay too much that it turns into a different game. Also right from the jump he has created his own tutorial which isn't in the base game so I would say worrying that graphics is all he is worried about seems foolish. And I found the brightness to fit the overworld pretty well, it was a colorful game not a dark souls edgy game, save for maybe the adult link world
Id say tone navi down. She is super bright white here when she was always blue and a softer color, i would almosy say level her brightness to be akin to a campfire radius of light, maybe half,

Edit: I feel the same as others when I saw Satori with the balloon it hit home
Hard how much he loved his company and his customers. I hope you keep those little bits in as you progress.
I don't know what's worse, that you actually believe this or that you spelt "Satoru" as "Satori".
Lol, he'd be sued if they could.

@@KaguyaH Actually, Satori is the point of the message, ironically.
He's using Unreal Engine in any way he can!
this is insanely cool, but if I may offer a bit of constructive feedback, there are some art direction notes I'd like to offer:
1. the most important thing that needs a pass is color.
I’m not even the target audience and this helped me out a lot, thanks
Mad respect for this ❤️
I guarantee you he won't read this or take a single piece of advice from this
Man just wrote out the whole art textbook
@Natty Sock Im sure he already knows all of that. Graphics engines are already capable of near perfect reflection of reality. The issue is performance and development time.

It looks good so far, but a few things to note:
Reduce the bounciness of the drops from pots and crates so that they don't fly too far from where the container was broken.
Also, while in the village , the time stands still. But here we see a day to night transition
Kaushal Kartikey
I actually like the day/night transition, it makes it seem a lot more realistic, in a way.
@@dragonfireinfernus336 yeah it does....but I hope it doesn't break any gameplay mechanism. The original OOT on n64 didn't have a day-night transition...there must have been a reason for that.

This should be a real zelda game.
