NOTE 1: The International Ancient Mew is the only version with 'Wizards' in the copyright.
NOTE 2: The language on Ancient Mew isn't "Made up". Its actually Futhark Runic and Gothenburg Runic.
Whats funny how one of text describing Mew as an evil god.
some peoole theorizes that mew is the primordial chaos based on hundin from chinese myth. It fits perfectly for the ancestet to pokemon
What if it has 1999-2000 on it?
@@Marik_Ishtar2006 Thats normal. I say "the 2000 copyright" but what I mean is the '1999-2000 copyright'.
@@sleevenocardbehind but it's the galaxy version, so is it from Japan?
@@Marik_Ishtar2006 It sounds like you have the International version. Join my discord if you want to show me
Ancient Mew Two, not to be confused with Ancient Mewtwo
Very interesting! Didn't even realize there were so many variations.
As a kid I took very good care of my cards. I always kept the rare cards in sleeves, and even kept my ancient mew completely sealed. If I recall, I think even as a 10 year old, I was thinking about the future and how valuable my cards could be. Glad I did! I still have all my cards today. Including shining Charizard, shining Celebi, shining Magikarp, and so on. So proud of my collection. And it keeps growing to this day!
The rarest version and most valued is the CORRECTED version. I have talked to people who've paid for or were selling misprints for a lot of money and they had no idea the CORRECTED version even existed. So the CORRECTED version sells high which causes people who don't know the difference to accidentally buy misprints for way more than what they're actually worth.
Yes absolutely. That being said, the error copy tends to steal the spotlight, that’s what most people want. I wish I worded it differently in the video. My writing needs a lot of work!
Sounds like the Zelda 1 carts in grey being a lot more rare than the gold versions 👍
How do you know what one is the CORRECTED version? 😂
@@MrCody6925 you know that from the kind of foil, the absense of 'nintedo' and the copyright date. The combination of the three uniquely identifies that one
When I was a kid my sister and I participated in a Pokemon TCG competition at a toy store called Zany Brainy. The grand prize was a 3-foot long wooden chest filled with Ancient Mew cards. My sister, somehow, made it to the final round but lost. To imagine what it would be like if she had won that prize.....
4:12 love this! Screenshotted.
Now I just gotta get my hands on a black label and my life would be complete.
I might be able to help with that
I had no idea and I have been collecting forever! Niceeeeee
Nintedo error is highly sought after, but the corrected Mew is far more rare as the print run was smaller.
First card I bought getting back into the hobby was the corrected Ancient Mew PSA 10, it's the only card I would never sell.
this is going to be a very important video for the future of pokemon
☺️
There are literally hundreds of versions of this card to chase. These six are just the start, you could have any of them graded 1-10, meaning there are 60 possible cards per grading company. You have printing errors and miscuts, cosmic swirl patterns that make unique cards and sealed packages from a dozen different countries. There are autographed ones out there, as well as bootlegs that somehow hold value for being fake. The Meiji Movie Promo version has its own variety to chase, and there are also custom fan art cards in this style that are worth looking into.
One other pretty noticeable difference between the original Japanese versions and international are the borders - the Japanese version has nice tight borders with no gap in the edge graphics, whereas the international version has a fairly noticeable gap. I have a corrected version, beautiful card 😄
There is also the Meiji Movie Promo Ancient Mew, which is the only other time Ancient Mew was printed on a card. The international versions sometimes show up sealed with different language cover cards which increase their value. You can also occasionally find bootleg versions of this card that are pretty bad, but some people (like me) will still pay good money for them.
was there a sticker variant? i swear as a kid i remember seeing others at school peeling the front of the ancient mew off
No official stickers but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were some bootleg sticker versions out there
my auntie had two in her collection back in 2009!! she had the corrected japanese version and the international release. i still think about it, because i used to think the japanese one was fake. i didn’t know it wasn’t!!
thank you for this! I'm working on a holofoil history collection and the different types of ancient mew look identical without seeing this in person
Really informative! Thanks for the video.
This card played a crucial part in my childhood…when my oldest brother was getting out of Pokémon and was throwing away all of his cards. I asked for his mew and he ripped it in front of me and laughed…that night a villain was born 😂
My brother sold his entire pokemon card collection for $12 when we were kids just so that I wouldn't end up with this card.
I had no idea about all these variants. Now I need to go home and check mine. Im pretty sure i have the international edition.
Nice video! To the point and point made clearly :)
I like the Ancient Mew (II).
I’m really not a fan of the glitter foil so I’m so happy they had another version.
I swear I didn't know there was more than 1 version wow and I have the other japanese trainer card with the holo back. so unique!
I received ancient mew in 1 FIRST pokemon movie as a kid and still have it today. I never went to the 2nd. So IDK why some insist it was for the 2nd.
I had no idea there were so many! Are there any other cards in this type of "Ancient" style???
Nope. Ancient mew is “one of a kind”
Going to have to check mine later. I lost my childhood one but I bought a graded copy a couple years ago. In my mind the one I had as a kid was the lighter japanese glitter foil version but obviously thats probably not true. Such a cool video.
Yeah my new one is the darker foil from 2000. PSA 9 though!
Nice dude! I’d love to collect all 6
People imported the original error card from Japan thinking it was going to be the most expensive card ever. When it was released later in the US the price tanked hard and this card showed up cheap in thrift stores and card shops around the states. You may have had the glitter foil if you didn't stand in line for it at the movies.
This was a wild ride I had no clue about!
Thanks Dan! Tell your wallet I say sorry lol
I thought that the "Nintedo" cars was given for Mewtwo strikes back, but it was only for the Lugia movie. "Mew II" is just the corrected version
great video! thank you for this
I consider the meji promo ancient mew to be a version as well. Its different but as a big ancient mew collector i wouldn't say collection is completed without that one. Then there is also the topps its not over yet regular, foil and rainbow wich show the ancient mew card in them. I also think there must be a film card of that scene from the movie but never seen one and might never. Then there are variants like the missing white layer print. And if you talk about sealed variants thats a whole other part.
Thanks for the knowledge
Aw i remember back pre 2015 ancient mews were 5$ sealed this was a dope card
Crazy right?
Video starts off incorrect- the most desirable and rare japanese version is "ancient mew 1 corrected". Not the error that says "nintedo" those were actually more common.
Thank you for the correction
I learned something today
Dope video bro. 🔥🔥🔥👌🏽
Thank you!
You are missing the Meiji Ancient Mew from Japan. There are multiple variants of that too!
So I have a Cosmos pattern with the text at the bottom reading “1995, 96, 98, 99 Nintendo, Creatures, GAMEFREAK, 1999-2000 Wizards.” Which version do I have?
If an ancient mew card 1, the words on the bottom are spelled Nintendo and the word wizards at the end. Is it legitimate or fake?
I’m confused as well, my card is the cosmic version but it’s copyright at the bottom says (from left to right):
1995, 96, 98, 99, Nintendo, Creatures, GAMEFREAK, 1999-2000 Wizards
Which would mean I have the corrected version?
@@SourceOfUs yeah, i am very curious abt it.
@@PlyGameInMY0337 Your card says the same information too?
Such a great video! Very informative
I really wish I had any of the cosmos, I've never seen it here in Brazil
Hell yes! Thanks for this man
Thank YOU for the idea!
@@sleevenocardbehind btw, do you collect bgs slabs?
The slab size and dimensions are the same, but if you examine the fonts, clarity, see-throughness, etc…you’ll find 2 different kinds of slabs bgs uses, unless the other one is fake. I know about the “dot” but both seem to have it albeit one is clearly defined while the other isn’t so defined.
Maybe make a video on this? Would really appreciate it!
i bought a nintedo error mew in japan on my trip in february! as well as the 2nd anniversary birthday pikachu
Could you make a video of every WoTC promo in all the different languages?
I have an ancient Mew card that is still sealed in the wrapper that it came with. I wonder if it is still gradeable.
I NEED ONE NOW
This card must give the grading companies headaches
Is it me or the erro version is more rainbow colors, the corrected on more rainbow blueish and 2019 and 2020 more dark rainbow?
It’s really hard to get images with the same lighting for each card so you might be seeing difference in lighting.
@@sleevenocardbehind but they are all exact same color?
Yes
Why are there > 1700 PSA 10 graded Ancient Mew II Japanese version, but only 3 BGS 10 all graded before 2003?
Looks like BGS did not grade such cards afterwards, is that possible?
Are the packaged ones on ebay the original 1999, 2000 ones?
The ones you’re finding on eBay are most likely the 1999-2000 Wizards of the Coast copies
i still have 2 in the wrapper from going to see the movie with my mom
Me too! Tell her I say hi
Thank u 🙏
The ancient mew II from back in the day is also a sticker and not an actual real card. I had 3 when I was a kid and experimented on one after we saw the movie and yea it’s a sticker
It appears that I have the International US version still wrapped in the original wrapper. Should I open the wrapper and send it to be graded or keep it in the original wrapper? Is there any value to the companion card?
Ultimately it’s up to you but if it looks good I would send it in with your next submission. Personally I like to keep the companion card but they don’t carry any value
They are worth about $2 each in near mint rn which is not bad for a filler card. You can also find them in other languages, and they can be pricey.
So both mew 1 (glitter) and mew 2 (cosmos) have 1999 and the remake has 2000? Or does mew 1 have 1999 and mew 2 have 2000?
Just subbed
Thank you!
Im trying to buy an ungraded ancinet mew and see these people on ebay sell some sealed one. They have tons in stock though. I assume theyre fake?
I can’t speak to the specific listings you’re looking at but since Ancient Mew is a promo, they got delivered to the cinemas in huge quantities. I’ve seen many posts online of people who have boxes of Ancient Mews that were never handed out back in the day
didnt it come out for the first movie..
First movie promos were Mewtwo, Pikachu, Electabuzz, and Dragonite. Ancient Mew was for the second movie, to the point the villain of the movie has a copy of the card and cites it as the reason he started hunting the legendaries.
Wow I had now idea
Tuve la primera, y.. Digamos que parece cartón húmedo en cada punta jajaja
A stranger who was getting rid of his old binder gave me this card for free
Mine says 1995,96,97,98,98 at the bottom tho
Nice carddass zard
Thanks!
tfw yes i knew about all of these loool
funfact this card is actually banned in actual play because of how its made
another funfact is if you really want one there not really expencive ;3
bro I'm not that old xd
Its nauseating knowing i literally gave away over 200k worth of imvestments as a dusty lil child..
lol
My girlfriend as a misprint of one that is missing the red layer of foiling on it entirely. So if anyone has one missing the blue layer hmu
That is so sick!! I’d love to see it
