I have been using the same HF wrenches for the last 12 years. I work in maintenance at a shipyard. So, i have been putting cheaters on them and everything. The only time I have bought a replacement is when I have had to grind one down real thin to get behind some stuff to hold a shaft/nut. And I still use those too. I know people that have bought nice tools to only have someone steal them out the truck/job site. Nobody really wants to steal HF stuff where I work.

HOWEVER, you don’t need nor should spend that kind of money when you can get much cheaper from brands like ICON, Tekton, Pittsburgh pro, Quinn, Dewalt etc that will be more than Durable! Hell they have a lifetime warranty. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love my snap on ratchets and sockets. They are legacy tools. And you can’t compare MAC pliers to cheap Chinese ones. But for most of us these middle tier tools are really all that’s needed. Great video!
The fact that the sockets are not deep is actually a very good thing. It means more material is used to construct them. If you look at cheaper sockets, they will all be deep. That’s how you can tell between high quality and “normal” sockets. With that said I have “normal” sockets and have never had an issue, but I’m also just a weekend warrior.
They will have ICON impacts coming out soon. I have a video from SEMA that shows them. 12pt is big in aviation so it would be nice to have them just for a complete set.

I went to harbor freight today to play with the new icon tools. First off that tool chest... holy shit that thing is ridiculous. I cant believe how good it is lol. Miles better than my proto case lol. The wrenches impressed me greatly. The ratchet ones in particular felt really great. The socket stuff tho... really underwhelmed to be honest. Felt bulky and heavy. They seem to be priced a bit high truth be told. The sockets felt like sockets, the socket wrenches didnt really seem to hit the mark. Comparing it directly to the pittsburgh pro ratchet .... it was WAYYY too similar to me. Is it rebadged? It was 3 times the cost and felt identical. Id grab the pittsburgh pro wrench every time. I really cant believe that tool chest though... they really went balls to the wall with that thing
Thanks for the update. Did you have the flex head ratchet wrenches. How are they. I'm so pissed harbor freight skipped 11/16 on their ratchet wrenches. I seem to use that a lot
To add on to the comments about 12 points, you said 12 points 10 times in the vid lol. Good vid, I'm impressed by icon. I only have a flex head 1/4 ratchet from icon rn, but it seems of high quality.
Problem with quick release is it tends to weaken the tool. Not really that big of a deal if you are using a breaker bar to break tough fasteners loose. Lately, since I like the ratchets I have and really good tools are more expensive than they used to be, I'm using a breaker often. Long handle 3/8 quick release is the one people break the most. Good to have a long handle flex head 3/8 without quick release for those times nothing else will fit. Most of the decent ones will approach 200 ft lbs. More than I expect from the tool.
I went grey pneumatic for my 12 points just so I don't have to buy impact and chrome. Don't use them often enough but would recommend buy both chrome and impact for 6 point.

Nice man I'm definitely gonna have to get those ratcheting end wrenches. Great review.🤘
Thanks. They have been working very well.
Those socket trays don't show the size of each socket. How do you grab the correct socket without having to try several times before you get the right one?
They have stickers with the sizes you can put on them if you want.
Great video! Kind of an unrelated question but what headlights are those in your Tacoma? I’ve been looking at replacing my old fogged ones on my 04 and those ones look really nice.
Thanks! They are just some that I got off ebay
19mm is a 3/4 so you have two of the same wrench with different labels on them.
False. 19mm=.748 inch.
3/4 inch=.750 inch
gittyupalice96 you should know one fits alittle tighter than the other ??
@@billlee1724 ayeee
I’ll bet ya $100 with 10 to one odds they are the same wrench made with the same die with a different size stamped on it.
Jed Mook icon is. Snap-on isn’t.
hall tools on amazon i think was the brand wrench holders i got. they have one slanted backwards for being flipped around in drawer
I'll have to check them out

nice meeting you!
I’m a Toyota mechanic and nearly everyone in the industry hates 12 points 🤦🏻♂️
🤦♂️
Because you work on Toyota😭😭😭
0:36 can somebody explain why is that some people have so many ratchets?! I have one short and one long and it’s enough for me
You would be surprised how much they all have there place. I do use them all in different situations. Some more then others. Everyone is different though.
1:27 I see that Milwaukee Fastback ;)
Aye! 😁
as far as impact sockets, their current ones are awesome anyway
agreed
Harbor freight owns majority stock in snap on since 2016.
I did not know that
@@JustinTBraun hence why William, snapons cheaper brand, is now China made in stead of USA made.
Impact sockets just came out if you didn't already know.
Got them a couple weeks ago.
Did a video on them as well
Where are they made?Tekton tools are damn good and made in USA
Taiwan.
Only 20% of tekton tools are US rn.
I really cant believe that tool chest though... they really went balls to the wall with that thing
the new icon boxes are pure beef! crazy how thick they are. I'd like to get one down the road.
Please god tell me how many 12 point bolts are on thst Tacoma? I am waiting

👍😁
Thanks for the update. Did you have the flex head ratchet wrenches. How are they. I'm so pissed harbor freight skipped 11/16 on their ratchet wrenches. I seem to use that a lot
I have the flex head ratchet wrenches in Gearwrench brand.
I find it funny I have two snap on sets of different lengths and I find myself always reaching for the longer ones
They get in your way much?
I’ve never had that issue usually saves me some busted knuckles lol
Haha for sure
To add on to the comments about 12 points, you said 12 points 10 times in the vid lol. Good vid, I'm impressed by icon. I only have a flex head 1/4 ratchet from icon rn, but it seems of high quality.
Thanks
What size is your shop ????
24x30
Like the way you keep your tools it like you never used them at all..to clean...
I like to make things last a long time.
Great video, tools looks mighty clean
Thanks!
They should put a quick release on their ratchets. Especially since the selector already sticks up.
Hmmm 🤔
Problem with quick release is it tends to weaken the tool. Not really that big of a deal if you are using a breaker bar to break tough fasteners loose. Lately, since I like the ratchets I have and really good tools are more expensive than they used to be, I'm using a breaker often. Long handle 3/8 quick release is the one people break the most. Good to have a long handle flex head 3/8 without quick release for those times nothing else will fit. Most of the decent ones will approach 200 ft lbs. More than I expect from the tool.
No fastener NEEDS a 12 point socket. 12 point sockets are a great way to strip a bolt in a pinch though.
You need to get out more if you have never worked with 12pt fasteners.
I went grey pneumatic for my 12 points just so I don't have to buy impact and chrome. Don't use them often enough but would recommend buy both chrome and impact for 6 point.
good idea
I am telling you harbor freight tool truck coming soon jk I don't know but I wouldn't be surprised if they do that
We shall see haha
Right
😁
I have that larger sae set at work and they work great, but the chrome isnt holding up very well, not flaking yet but they scratch really easy
Well hopefully they don't start flaking
Overtime Garage I dont think they will, my sunex wrenches have though and there about the same age and same amount of use
Bro what part of Idaho are you in? From Twin Falls myself.
Lewiston
Make more of these harbor freight tool vids!!
There is more coming!
