This was a phenomenal adaptation of a well-worn classic! And one thing I particularly loved was Annes Elwy's performance as Beth. She highlighted Beth's severe social anxiety in a way that not only is missing in every other version of Little Women that I've seen, but is absent in entertainment, period. I suffer from it and so I was truly thankful to see this condition be recognized. Kudos to everyone involved on this project!
@@gracne3441 I'm sorry to hear that you suffer with it, as well. I agree; the severe tension that Annes exuded in her performance was palpable. I've always loved Claire Dane's portrayal of Beth but honestly, Annes's characterization makes the most sense to me in terms of how a person with severe social anxiety behaves.
yes I agree especially the 8 inches sausage of Jonah so delicious.
This one's the best one out of all the new versions, the cast was perfect and Marmee in this version was perfect, they really brought ou her character not just the girls.
yes girls really fancy Jonah and his 8 inches sausage.🍆
This is a very good adaptation of Little Women. I particularly loved Angela Lansbury as Aunt March.
Ahh, someone finally figured Beth out fro the sound of things. ^_^
I honestly think this is a much better version than the latest theatrical release
The best actress among them is the one that played Beth.
Really? I thought Maya was the best, I mean, just see how much she's grown from this.
They were all great. Beth and Meg were expanded and the actresses have more material to develop the characters. That's one benefit of doing a series instead of a movie: there's more time
She is very, very good! Funnily enough, in the 1994 movie of Little Women, Claire Danes's performance as Beth was also one of the very best things in a very good film. Perhaps we all tune in to the goodness of the character Beth.
We Stan Maya hawke !
As a period film lover, I think this will be the tenth time I see Emily Watson play a maternal figure to a teenager or young adult while wearing a corset, lol.
Well now it’s true
I couldn't agree more. Emily Watson's face is timeless. Her face is deemed suitable for any period piece drama.
Jo March is my favorite!
Wait! Isn't this the girl of Stranger Things?
Yep! this was the first project Maya ever worked on outside of film school. She dropped out of Julliard to film Little Women
@@maybeee7990 Thanks
Angela is so cool
YOOOOOO Im so excited to watch this I love these actors
This id gorgeous
Yesss. Angela Lansbury. Love love. Quickly though, pronunciation: maRmee, not Mahmee.
Actually, a New Englander from the 19th century would have likely pronounced it as MAH-mee as their accent would have been non-rhotic (doesn't pronounce Rs at the end or in the middle of some words like "water" or "party," pretty much like how someone with a British (RP) accent or a New Yorker would say those words). In fact, a lot of accents in the Northeastern part of the US are still non-rhotic to this day. So from a historical and linguistic point of view, Emily Watson was close to correct with her pronunciation of "Marmee."
That's one thing I appreciate about this version. They tried to sound at least slightly similar to what an educated person from mid-19th century, Concord, Massachusetts would sound like. The overpronounced Rs in most of these modern adaptations drives me batty. New Englanders from that time and place were largely non-rhotic speakers. Many still are. Katharine Hepburn's Jo was the only one who spoke in the way I imagined Jo speaking. It's Mah-mee, not MAR-mee.
Where is Kathryn newton? I love her,,
Ikr she is my fav
