STILL kicking myself for not buying one back then! Now here I am shopping for same but twice the price. Oh well, you'll have that when one procrastinates.
I purchased my H&R rifled heavy barreled slug gun in 2010, and after testing several 3" and 2 3/4", I settled for either both types in Winchester Gold Partition Sabot ballistic Tip 260gr. I put a Burris 2X9X40 scope w/a Turkey Plex reticle, illuminated with a diamond center in the middle of the Turkey Plex , range certified at zero 150Yds, shoots 1/4 " high at 100Yrds, 1/4" low at 200yds. Every deer and hog I ever shot (in Florida) dropped stone cold where they stood, most shot within 100yds. 2360 ft lbs of dynamic shock wave energy at 1830 fps. Clean, ethical kills. I would reorder the Winchester slugs every year5-10 boxes (5 rds) but since 2018, after being blown out of S Florida the previous yr by hurricane Irma, cannot find them anywhere, all my ammo providers online have them on backorder. I wanted to send my stock back up to H&R to be fitted w/a .44 rifle and 45/70 rifle barrels, but they posted their notice of going out of business (thanks Marlin, Connecticut Corporate assholes!!) for driving a good, respectable and honest American gun company to close their manufacturing and repair business., and when I tried to get purchase order app they sent me a notice that they were closing shop. Sad. I learned that you needed to keep it well oiled, and dried off and reoiled when it got wet
Henry makes a very nice firearm. I have a blue steel Henry 45-70 and it is awesome. I’m definitely considering the Henry slug gun. Here in NY half the counties require a slug shotgun for deer. I live in a rifle county, but 10 minutes from here it is shotgun.
I got an H@R Ultra slug 20 gauge, topped with Simmons scope, love it.Now I'm kinda sniffing around the henry slug guns.Henry makes really nice, well put together guns, just got a .410 single for grouse, love it.I'm sold on there firearms up here in northeast Ontario.
Hi there this is the 3 rd time I watch your Video ,and guess what ,just made a deal last night ,picking one up today ,and it as the scope rail on it ,I can't wait to try it out ,thanks again ,you should be a salesman for Henry LOL ,thanks again and I really like your sweatshirt ,
Just bought one today. Rifled slug barrel is new. Think Dec they started production. I'm a slug gun nut myself. Browning abolt remington 1100 with Hastings barrel. Bought my wife a savage 220 that shoots lights out as well. Looking forward to seeing which shells shoot the best in the Henry. Any body has shooting experience with the Henry let me know. Much appreciated.
The h&r will with slugs at least, the Henry rifles like .45-70 will not to collect the brass from extractor. Wish saboted slugs were a little cheaper because I would like to shoot it more often.
Great review! Just bought this gun and I cant wait for it to get here! Are the fiber optic sights bulky or relatively slim? I've had fiber optic sights that take up half of the deer when I aim. Just thought I would ask since I don't have money for a scope!
The 20 gauge h&r is more accurate altogether than the 12. We can use the 350 and 450 in Michigan now, but i love my u.s.h with the bull barrel. Hornady sabots hit super tight at 100yrds. Damn shame they quit making h&r and nef 😢
I'm watching videos after seeing one (h&r) in a shop for 450. Plus I picked up a lee lead pot, 1oz slug mold, and have everything to cast and reload slugs. Plenty of guns to sling em, but this rifled bull barrel looks too cool to pass up. I may go buy it tomorrow...
I want this gun- BUT in a 20 gauge. At 54, every year during slug season after I pull the trigger on the 12ga. Wingmaster w/Hastings rifled barrel " I've got to get a 20 gauge"😭
Awesome! I'm in Illinois as well. I have a Savage 212 with a scope and love it but interested in the henry's. I used to have a 12 ga h and r and loved it. I may be looking into a henry. I too like single shots.
@@mussersbowsboatsandscience6610 I have been using Remington buckhammers in my H&R , they are superb but Remington quit making them years ago. Would like a 20 gauge , maybe the Henry. Thanks for the reply
I like single shot too. I have the savage 220 and like it but also find it overkill for my hunting. I used to have and H&r tracker 2 in a 20 and it kicked like a mule due to being so light. The heavier barrel I am sure makes a difference.
There has never bee a perfect hinge breach single barrel shotgun. Earlier ones had faulty ejectors and would not throw out the empty cartridge. Most NEFs had plastic fore-end hinges and trigger guard which broke. The Henry design has an inferior hinge knuckle design which does not look right.
I brought the H & R slug gun (12 gauge) in 2008, for $240, the accuracy has always been fantastic. I'm sorry they don't make them anymore.
yep and you could sell it for over $800 on gun broker today. Very dependable gun!

Yes, I picked up a Henry .45-70 because was happy with my gun
I would like to see one with 20-gauge rifled barrel

Congrats brother, looks great n thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
You cant go wrong with that henry 👍 i am in central Illinois and like the straight wall cartridge guns that we can use now.
Great review - might want to check your scope. My H&R with a 3-9x Nikon Slugmaster is very accurate.
Cool, thanks

Some really nice guns! There is something about slug guns that are cool.
Any update on it? Is it worth the price?
I like that the Henry ejects the spent shell.

I just picked up a thumb hole mint condition for 395. Ive owned a few and love the thumb hole the best. Im 3" group at 200 with the remington accutips
That is awesome! Great gun!
I am in PA. I got 5 H&R 13 Barrels for 2 recvers. Henry you can't interchange barrel. Always looking for H&R Barrels an parts. Kill a big one.
Not having H&R making guns today is a loss.
The shell ejecting caught me off garde. Too funny!!
thanks

@@mussersbowsboatsandscience6610 never have, but always evolving.
@@yep-sb4uf I shot h and r today, but just of many to check zero
@@mussersbowsboatsandscience6610 i got it. Shot 4 times. 2 at 25 yards, 2 at 125 yards. Now i can't wait for deer season. Gonna be a blast.

get 7/8oz 12ga slugs
Bought one today. Very well made and nice looking gun. Can't wait to take it to the range.
That is awesome!
Where did you buy it? I’ve been looking for a slug gun for a while.
What size shells were you using?

It is an awesome gun, in fact I bought another 2 Henry guns after buying this gun.
Where’d you find the slug gun? I’ve been trying to find one, live in lower Michigan and that would be quite handy.
KY Gun Company, I do a gun search through a gun broker or something like it
Just bought one at guns galore in Fenton with scope used for $179
What is the best ammo to use in either gun.
I have been content Hornaday SST harder hitting slugs for the 12 GA, and still have Remington core lokt for the 20 Gauge

My opinion best gun ever made H&R it's a shame they don't make them no more
Absolutely just mentioned that in my review of my H&R 450 Marlin today that is about to be loaded

good information
Nice!
How accurate at 100plus?
That is something to try. Only killed one deer over 100 yards in deer hunting career.
@@mussersbowsboatsandscience6610 what’s the farthest you have target practice with this?
I’ve got a security six 357 mag ruger six inch stainless I’ll trade you for that ol hr?
Can you shoot buckshot out of it?
Wouldn't be very accurate out of rifled barrel, buck shot would be better out of smooth barrel I suspect
Awesome!!!!
Henery is it

Shoot them at 100 yards, the Henry is ok,the H&R is the most accurate slug gun ever made,my 20 ga.shoots it thru the same hole at 150 yards.
Will do this summer
Same hole 150 yards huh? 😂
Or anyone for that matter or for a nice automatic pistol
この銃は日本でも所持可能です ただ初心者はライフリングを半分に削らなければいけないという規制があります 私はこれを所持するつもりです
No comparison to the H&R ultra slug gun is rated the most accurate slug gun ever made by NRA,and many other sources.
