      @@Whitetail_Properties my dominant eye has a really bad astigmatism that doesn't match my left so focusing on the front sight makes the rear sight and target smudge like crazy. I'm probably going to get a cantilever rifled barrel and scope

      I believe I’ve seen red dots that clamp to the vent rib but I’m not sure. I have the same issue with astigmatism and find some red dots are okay and some are more like red blurs, lol.

      @@phild9813 i almost bought one and mounted my holosun green dot rmr on it but the actual accuracy you can get from rifled slugs isnt as good as sabots, and no zoom kind of sucks. green light is a higher wavelength and isnt refracted as much as red by an astigmatism

      Unfortunately for my Mossberg, that was the only slug which had better accuracy than any other one. Now I shifted to SST, accutip, and federals & I struggle to stay consistent

    Ill take a 45-70 does the same sledgehammer but more accurate longer range and more power you dont need slugguns those states went straight wall

    • @Whitetail_Properties
      @Whitetail_Properties  Месяц назад +2

      There are still benefits to slugs over straight wall. Also, thousands of hunters already have shotgun because that's all they were allowed to hunt with forever. Some people can't afford to or don't want to make the switch.

    If your buying by the case know that shotgun propellant degrades faster then rifle smokeless powders so air tight, moisture free, and temp control storage is critical for long lasting consistency.

    I live in Ohio and our gun hunting regs are weird. Biggest thing is you’re not allowed to use shouldered cartridges.

    100 yards at best. Plus, shooting THOUGH brush? Not recommended. Know your target and beyond. Clean shot always. I err on the side of caution.

    • @Whitetail_Properties
      @Whitetail_Properties  7 месяцев назад

      We understand erring on the side of caution. We have 6-8" group out to 150 yards through this setup. Slug guns have no problem going through light brush. How much is up to the individual situation and experience of the hunter.

    my biggest buck a shot on a super windy day 2nd shotgun here in iowa and it was about 2 degrees out and since it was so windy i was still hunting moving when the wind was blowing and i snuck up on this big 12 point buck who was with a doe that was hot because i was down wind from him for awhile and he didnt spook somehow.the way i went i had circled around and was still hunting my way back towards the truck cause my dad was waiting for me he cant walk much anymore and he jumped up about 15 yards from me ran another 20 and stopped in some grass that was about 8 foot tall on the edge of some timber next to a field and all i could see was his antlers where he stopped and i just judged where to shoot from his antler tips and shot straight through the grass. double lunged him and he ran about 30 yards and dropped. i also shot the doe he was with from about 80 yards right after that and she was at a full sprint. that took three shots figuring out how much i needed to lead the shot but i dropped her too. i dragged that doe out to the truck in about 30 minutes the buck took me 4 hours thats how much bigger it was. it was about 2 miles back into some public land. it sucked at the time dragging it out but i look back at it now very fondly
